I’m currently paying off an AVATA from a friend and I haven’t even had the chance to fly it since buying it. I did have a fly when my friend owned it and loved it, that’s why when I got the offer from my friend I jumped at the chance to get it. If I had the money I’d definitely be thinking about getting this smaller one though, just for flying around people that might be annoyed with the sound of the AVATA. It looks good.
@CAPTAINDRONE7982 жыл бұрын
The AVATA is a beginner DJI Drone, kinda like a DJI Mavic, so you or your Grandma could fly it without issue. It does have a MANUAL mode so that you can feel what it is like to fly Pro FPV and it gets you close to that but most AVATA users crash & destroy their AVATA learning to fly in MANUAL mode. The IFLIGHT DEFENDER 25 has no beginner modes so any Beginner trying it will crash it many times learning to fly. Since you are a newbie with the AVATA, I would fly it until you feel comfortable flying in MANUAL mode, and then you could easily fly drones like the IFLIGHT DEFENDER 25 and experience the difference.
@davidreynolds85512 жыл бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I should have said that I also fly fpv drones as well, I like the AVATA’s abilities to be both an fpv and cinematic drone in the one. Yes, it isn’t a true aerobatic drone but it is a good compromise between the two types. Thanks for the reply captain, I know exactly what you mean and appreciate your reply.

It says on the website that they come standard with GPS in the list of changes. Unless I misinterpreted what I was reading. Per the change log on the product page: "May 31, 2023: Defender 25 4S HD BNF comes with GPS installed by default." I've been looking at the Avata for months now. But it just can't flip and spin and quickly and safely as this one. I know it's not a freestyle drone, but you can still do some decent freestyle with it. It freestyles better than the Avata from what I've seen, even though that's not necessarily the purpose.

My first was the DJI FPV drone and I thought it was the best thing ever, but I must say the entire world of FPV opened up to me once I starting flying Betaflight quadcopters. There is so much more out there than what DJI is offering at such a better price. You'll never look back! - I've got a whole wall of quadcopters now, but honestly the one I fly and enjoy the most is a simple little 3 inch freestyle quad perfect for doing flips and race gates around the backyard.
@marcsangiuliano42732 жыл бұрын
@@daniel.pendzich what is the three inch drone you speak of?
@kurtzFPV2 жыл бұрын
Not telling you what to do of course, but I agree with Daniel Pendzich- get a 3" or 5" freestyle with the 03 system since you already have the Avata for cinematic stuff. I have the defender with the previous camera system, but don't have an Avata. It does ok for freestyle, but not like an open prop that is made for more acrobatic movement. Ignore this if you are only interested in slow, cinematic flying.

*"rapid prototyping"* is creating some absolutely amazing product in the pure BEV market at *INCREDIBLY NO LONG COSTLY PRICES* at the moment very much spot on with that to include imaging solutions and some really amazing bells and whistles now too absolutely true dat as well. Sad to see how these items are being used as an entirely new type of fighting War but one side effect is that this be the case turns off many to the drone market driving prices in some cases *MUCH* lower but also increasing quality and the fun factor to start creating a right proper and hopefully true as in real as good image for these now in Ukraine anyways *TRULY* literal killing machines. Be interesting to see how Artificial Intelligence starts to impact this market such that the item basically *"flies itself"* using preset cinematic modes which in theory anyways would create some truly amazing *"film"* (digital) product... especially as a kind of *"sport model"* too/as well/in addition/best just got better. Wow! Hey sir, this certainly qualifies as a major drone purchase for me this summer! Right now I'm kinda 'stuck' on the BETAFPV Cetus X (Betaflight) kit, which I JUST purchased 2 days ago (I use the term 'stuck' because I absolutely, as of this moment, CANNOT find a Windows 11 driver set for the included LiteRadio 3 Controller, all which forbids me from using the controller on training sims, preventing me from learning the arts of FPV flying ... so yeah ... 'stuck'). My question here is: If the Defender 25 has the DJI O3 system, will that confine me to pair it ONLY with DJI Goggles? (DJI Goggles, Goggles V2, Goggles 2, or the new Goggles Integra) ... or is there a way to use FatShark Dominator HD, or HDZero, or any other high quality goggles that AREN'T ridiculously expensive like the DJI Goggles 2? I would STRONGLY dissagree with this one been better than DJI Avata, unless you NEED that 250g limit. I fly 5” APEX HD on Kiss that I build. I fly also Avata. Avata flies like on rails indoor. Charging is like safe dream. Plug anywhere to USB C charger. Not even talking about safety of that batery, self discharging to safe levels, etc. For me it flies about 12+ minutes indoors (acro) and I land at 30% battery. It takes off, hovers and lands by itself if you wish. You can do hand take of/landing as I do (not touching ground in forest, dirt etc.. It has BRAKE button when it will stop when you mess up…. That button alone is pure gold for anyone learning. I would kill for that button when I started. I can now fly without problem, orbit, rolls… and I still love that option. I would be carefull to say anything with O3 has same quality as Avata. Avata camera is so vibration free on those rubber mounts. It has gimball you can adjust mid air. Yes you will use it. When I fly indoors I decrease angle and you see that angle in the googles while avata is hovering by itself… It has GPS return… Im 100% sure that Avata durability is faaaar superior to Defender. Its unbelievable durable. I will not start discussion about component quality…. And the best…. Same price

If you want the DJI O3 Air unit in the drone, then it only connects to the expensive DJI FPV goggles

Hey Cap! New FPV enthusiast here! So two months ago i bought the avata, enjoyed the heck out of it. Long story short, loved the feeling of acro mode w/ the visual capability of what the avata offers...but i crashed it during a dive freefall due to that weird yaw tumble. What would you recommend to someone who wants a drone thats acro-capable but also has camera quality that could rival the avata without a go pro?

The Avata camera is the DJI O3 system which is available for any FPV drone. You can also buy such FPV drones from all the big name FPV companies (I believe I have reviewed pretty much all of them). Just watch any of my FPV drone reviews made in the past 5 months with drones with a DJI camera. Also watch my FPV FOR BEGINNERS EPISODE 12 video so you know how to set them up.

I have a 16yo that can fly my Mavik A2 & Mavik 3 pretty well however I’d like get him his own to do with what he chooses so I can get back to work with mine … What’s the price point ? You didn’t even give us a hint 🤔🤔🤔

Any FPV Drone on the market that has the DJI O3 system in it, along with a very high tech modern flight controller, is gonna be costly and you'll always be looking at prices in the $400 to $700 range. This one is in the $500 range.

Wow, you can get 3km on that little PCB antenna? Why is not everyone using these? They are in so many other electronics. You can find such antennas yourself in old laptops and WiFi routers.

Great review as always Steve , it confuses me how the heavy dji AVATA or Atleast heavy compared to this but it seems the avata has better battery life . I like the look of this one but I need to go on a sim first unlike the avata . I’ve not checked prices but I’m guessing this a lot cheaper that they Avata .

The AVATA was designed for people who fly the DJI MAVIC drones. It uses GPS and position hold and bottom sensors so that even your grandma could fly it. If you put the AVATA into full MANUAL mode, the stability sensors are still active so that they can rescue the beginner pilot if they get into trouble. All of this adds a pile of weight. It also makes the AVATA not fly like a common FPV drone.

Please. Can you say me how I bind with dji transmisor? And must I bind and activate the air unit with dji Googles v2?
@CAPTAINDRONE7982 жыл бұрын
- ACTIVATE the DJI 03 unit with the DJI ASSISTANT - Ensure your GOGGLES and DRONE and REMOTE are on the LATEST firmware - You bind everything by simply pressing the BIND BUTTON on the DJI 03 system (use a paper clip to push the button). Then bind your V2 Goggles by pressing the BIND button on the Goggles (first make sure you set the goggles to the DJI 03 Transmission.... it's an option in the menu) - Bind your remote by holding down the power button until it goes into bind mode
