Flight restrictions are there to prevent you to fly where you are not allowed to fly. It's a great safety feature. Most people flying these type of drones are doing it for fun. If you are a professional user and actually have a permit to fly in a restricted zone then it is possible to unlock the area where you need to fly

@mjordan8122 жыл бұрын
Of course, Autel's tracking is Version 1.0 - one can only assume that it will get better. My main issue with DJI is their approach to Geofencing - they just shut the drone down. On more than one occasion DJI's software has limited my ability to fly where both Airmap and Aloft had said that I was good to go. It's a pain to plan out a shot, drive some distance to get there only to find that DJI is having a hissy fit whereas Autel has no issues.
@VittBrus2 жыл бұрын
A tip then. You can check the DJI fly zone map before you go. If you actually are allowed to fly in a place but DJI say no then it's not very good. I don't live in US but I have never seen any mismatch between DJI geofencing and where I'm allowed to fly
@mjordan8122 жыл бұрын
@@VittBrus That's all well and good, but when Airmap, Aloft & B4UFLY all say that I have a 300' altitude cap at location X. I need 250' to get the shot I want. I get there and DJI only lets me to to 192'. DJI's map doesn't show altitude limits. OR - I just take an Autel and know that I will get my shot.
@repaid12 жыл бұрын
Actually Autel just released Dynamic Tracking 2.1, it isn't their first rodeo. Most other companies use the customers device (Phone or tablet) to provide the calculations for active track, DJI builds the processors into the aircraft and also software. I have been flying "drones" for just short of 7 years, in that time traveling abroad and in the states I have never once had a attempt at flight where geofencing interrupted my flight with any of my DJI's, warnings yes. I guess I am lucky, but that was Autels main selling point when they decided to shut off their geofencing soon after they debuted there first craft. Their past history with support and marketing turned me off them, but they have some prior DJI employees with them now, hopefully they grow into some serious competition.

Steve: Autel just isn't good when it comes to tracking. That has always been their weakness. I still have the Evo 1 and rarely fly it or any quad anymore, but it was always weak at follow as I showed several years ago when the Evo 1 came out. So I hand it to dji on the tracking. They are the kings of it minus the Skydio as you pointed out. I love your reviews as they are always honest and no hype attached. I pretty much stopped watching all other quadcopter reviewers because they are just hype and shills for a company, typically dji. So keep being you and I'll keep watching.

I am using DJI drones for a long time and they are good drones. I am in the android universe. The DJI apps (Fly & GO) are no longer in the google playstore and you have to download a apk file from one of the dji servers to fly your drone. For security reasons a apk file is a no go. I think before buying a new dji drone you should be aware of this problem. In germany the drone manufacturer DJI is accused of passing on location data from Ukrainian armed forces to Russia, the big companies Media Markt and Saturn have removed DJI products from their shops. Good video, but in all honesty, you are inconsistent. You should have redone the landing test when you realized the height difference, and kept the drones at the same height on the speed test. Very interesting on the tracking test, though, how the DJI dodged the trees like it wasn't a big deal at all.
@CAPTAINDRONE7982 жыл бұрын
Just a few response points as I see what you are saying but believe you may be misguided in your thoughts. The higher a drone is when returning to home, the more difficult it is to land accurately. For this reason, the Autel was amazing. Speed height that is close (within a range of 100 meters), is inconsequential. I’m not sure why you believe the test favoured one over the other due to being a few meters different in height (feel free to explain your point if desired). These tests are NOT LAB SCIENTIFIC…. No drone comparison tests are. They are simply to show the viewer the results and revealing the parameters applied when the comparison was done.
@digitalranger42592 жыл бұрын
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 My thought on the return to home test was that the added height could have given the Evo more time to adjust it's landing spot. And from my own drone flying experience, I've seen a difference in wind in 50 ft of height. Unfortunately Autel tried that game and lost and it almost folded. Autel simply doesn't have a market share big enough to do competitive marketing. That is why they tried and basically failed with the no GEO fencing campaign. Last figures I was aware of DJI held over 70% of the market, Autel's market share topped at 7%. Precision landing is not very important. It's good enough if the drone can land witin maybe a metre from where it took off. You normally always take over and land it manually. It is the return to home that is important. The only situation I can think of where precision landing could be useful is if the drone returns to home and you are in some other location. If I change location significantly while the drone is in the air I normally also change the rth point to my new location. In such situarion precision landing is not relevant.

For you and your needs it seems it is not importmant, however For many, such as myself it is. Where I fly from is not often an open space but rather constricted, thus the drone needs to land within a foot of where it took off from when on RTH. In a bazillion of my videos, each time a drone takes off there are cameras nearby as part of a review. I'm busy working on the review as the drone lands in RTH & thus it is best it does not land on the cameras. Also, I'm in Canada and we have plenty of snow in the winter. Every Canadian that flies a drone in the winter will stamp out a takeoff spot in the snow. The drone must return to that spot or else it will end up landing in the fluffy white snow. Same is true when I am on a small boat and I launch from shore. Some drones are not designed for hand catching due to size, so I expect them to return to their take off point... and not many meters off into the water. Certainly one can take control and position the drone upon landing, but often that option is not available as we are busy with other items or distant from the RTH point we have assigned. Over the years, all drones have improved in precision landing abilities.

The autel tracking is worse than anyone off the MJX drone
@cjjuszczak2 жыл бұрын
oh my god the Autel tracking is ABYSMAL ! o.O it is not ready for deployment to consumers at all, it's like it's still in its infancy and not ready to leave the labs, not what you expect from a $900+ drone product trying to compete with DJI's efforts o.O

ARE YOU TURNING INTO A DJI FANBOY ? GET OUT THE LUBE !
@lukasallen8462 жыл бұрын
Exactly! ❤ I think Captain Drone is definitely a DJI fanboy. I don't know how much he is getting paid by dji but his predisposed preference is so obvious. That said, I still enjoy Captain Drones reviews because he covers so many items and that he is so geeky. A loner with his toys. I respect that.

Hillarious! I wish DJI would sponsor me and send me FREE products and have me sign an NDA so that I only say POSITIVE things or else they cut me off. :-)

I just can't back any DJI product, not because they don't work well, but in order to use it, you have to agree to the terms and conditions, and those terms say they can use the footage and data as they please. Not to mention that DJI drones are being used by the Russians against Ukraine.

What? Your Canadian? I had no idea. I unsubscribe 😂 😇

Canadian.... which explains the minimal suntan and ability to stand outside in a T-Shirt reviewing a drone when the temps are freezing. :-)

What's up buddy. I've been on a drone strike. Big brother took the wind out of my sails so to speak. Too many rules regulations keep up with on top of a full-time job... they wanted to take the hobby away from the everyday consumer they accomplished it

Do like most Americans and Canadians.... Carry on with your hobby and don't let the stupid government ruin it for you.

Yeah it went down quickly over the year because it didn't sell very well Autel also has done a poor job supporting it

Very sad implementation from Autel. They do things like they are Paid opposition for DJI. Chinese Snakery. Sadly because I don't make money with drones, They are pushing me away on the Costs front.
