You should add some tin at an angle so the castings fall by your feet and not under the bin when you fork at it. Like rabbit cages

I watched all of your videos and really enjoyed it...I raise worms, too... but only for me at this point. I have a big garden and the worm castings are wonderful. Last year I planted one 25 foot row of cucumbers...and picked 1100 pounds of cucumbers! I believe in God's little garden tillers...they are amazing!

Oh my goodness Matt, what a great setup. As I mentioned before, my Can-O-Worms is just off my kitchen and a perfect fit for me. I also have 2 oblong waist high planters that I started using to raise worms in about 6 months ago. I am amazed at how quickly they reproduce. I like your FWA ,Future Wormers of 🇺🇸 America 🇺🇸

I had 3 baths and 2 can o'worms set up 10 years ago. I see how these boxes are much more convenient. I only kept one can o'worms just for the home but I tell ya, these bins are so inspiring.

You can start with some old plywood at the bottom below the pvc rack and support it That will allow you to fill the bin while the worms do their job When the bin is at level Remove the bottom support and start raking

I'm afraid I don't understand how you harvest the castings. How does the rake access the castings which, presumably, are still above the cardboard flooring of the bin?

Wow, really educational channel, I just found you Matt, I would like to build some larger bins the locals are asking for more and more castings so I think it's time to expand the little farm!

Good day, I watch all your videos and love your enthusiasm. Thanks to your advices I keep successfully African Night Crawlers in bins. Now I like to build a CFT and like to ask you if it works for ANC too, because they are always at the bottom of my bins which are filled up about 1,5ft. Thanks for your answer and keep on going
@CaptainMattsWorms
@CaptainMattsWorms 9 ай бұрын
Hey Nikolaus... you're thinking in the right way - red wigglers are more suited for CFTs. I'd likely use a different approach for ANCs.

Good day, thank you for your answer, so what do you think is the best way to keep the ANC and harvest easy a lot of vermicast. I live in the Philippines and need it for my veggies, citrus trees and so on. I keep them in 3 120l storage boxes but harvesting is always difficult. Thank you for your advice. Have a great day.

Matt, can you breed in a continuous flow through? Why would they not multiply in a flow through? Why buckets instead of just breeding in the flow throughs. I have a commercial farm and I use a lot of castings but I also use worms in my soil in my beds, so I want to make worms and castings.

I was curious how you reinforced/screwed the plywood at the corners to each other. Did you use angle braces or a piece of 2x4 on the inside corner? Getting ready to build a bin this week!

Hi Back in Service... The frame at the bottom and "ribbon" at the top are sufficient to hold the plywood in place. Exciting - would love to see photos.
