Enjoyed the video! Picked up a few tips I will use from now on. The threaded insert on the jamb chuck is a great idea! Thanks!

I can’t take credit for the threaded insert; I saw Jimmy Allen (cool dude) of D-Way tools do that in a club demo and it prompted me to buy his mandrel he used from him. They do not list it on their website, you need to email them (Jimmy) if you want one. They are about $75 and comes with two blocks with inserts already installed. I have found the brass inserts on Niles bottle stopper site for about a buck and they work too. But what a brilliant idea. Oh and thanks for watching

Always good to see altenative approaches to turning something. Thanks for the acknowledgement. Safe turning.

Thanks 🙏 for the inspirations. Love your show. Especially the 4way work.

This looks fantastic. If you had a laser engraver, or could get in touch with someone who had one, I could easily see a set of four laser-cut inserts at 1" circles to go into each of the four side holes. This could serve as small customization, either for the holidays or with initials for weddings, or add a piece of colored film inside to change the lantern's color.

There is a ton of option with this design.

Thanks for watching and they are fun to make, the more I make the better I get the more creative I get. Every time I gift one I end up having to make another one. You cant do just one.

Greetings from Canada! Question: What speed are you using when inserting the Forstner bit? I go about 500 and it consistently jams but yours bores with no problems. My bit is new-perplexed! And fine work. Thanks for posting.

If you use it as a hanging ornament, what would hold the candle in place?

sorry for the late replay, I got the mandrel from D-Ways tools. It is not on their site but if you contact them and ask JImmy he will sell you one. It was about $75 if I remember right.
@DKWalserАй бұрын
In addition to getting the mandrel from D-Ways tools, you could also use a bottle stopper mandrel. You'd just need to make sure whatever threaded insert you used matched the threads on the mandrel.

What Tea Lights do you use? Ours are 1.5 inch diamter and dont have a flange. Video was very well done. Thanks!!!

I usually look right after Christmas at the big box stores (lowes, home depot they are the cheapes although I have found them in Michaels and holly lobby). The ones I used in this one I collected over the last couple of years. If you go to amazon and search for tea lights 1.4”, they are close and all you have to do is hit it with a box scraper and take a little off the sides. In fact, that would be a more accurate way to size the candles. All the ones I have looked at are straight side.
