Audio and video from PP is super glitchy on CP...the control in Storyline looks great for bringing over some legacy training.

thank you for your video, the tip about not to choose solely on pricing is helpful. I have been sitting on the fence for days about choosing my authoring tools.

Hi Diane, good, informative video. I was wondering if you know, does Captivate have an equivalent to Articulate Rise? Rise is a big pull for me so far. having the ability to quickly create quick, responsive course design which on the surface seems to be lacking in captivate.

nice comparison, Storyline is still my choice.

Thank you Diane for making this wonderful video. I'm surprised there aren't more up to date comparisons out here in the interwebs. Also, I don't see the handout you referenced at the beginning of the video. Is there another place I can find it?

Thanks so much for doing this. I am a long time eLearning/instructional developer (in academia) that is investigating new tools. This was a great overview. As someone who also knows HTML, CSS, and Javascript, I wonder if those tools also allow someone with scripting knowledge to access the underlying code. Also, to embed the finished presentation/product in an LMS, does the content sit on a separate server and embed with an iFrame? Does it import as a SCORM object? Do Storyboard and Captivate play equally well with all LMSs? I'll poke around in your channel to see if you posted the basic in another video.

Dale, having a background in HTML, CSS, and Javascript does open up some possibilities for you. What we find to be challenging in a corporate environment is replicating these modifications in the future. This is especially true if you are developing courses for clients. Where should you document your modifications to a published file? How do you ensure that the modifications can and will be repeated in the future? Will you or your client have the resources to implement these modifications in the future? For these reasons, we try to avoid editing the published files. Both applications export zipped SCORM packages for deployment on a LMS. They play well with LMSs equally and both Adobe and Articulate offer their own LMS applications.

Thank you, great video comparing these two tools. Currently I exclusively use Storyline but may be using Captivate down the road. My impression is that Storyline is easier to use since I'm more "Office-oriented" than Adobe-oriented. The biggest difference to me is the layers. Storyline has it set up great where you can see content on multiple layers, but it seems like Captivate has all content on one slide.

The video mentions a review tool for Captivate. What tool is this and how can I find out more about it?

There is no built-in review tool but you can round-trip captions into MS-Word, have the SME mark it up then import them back into Captivate. For review, I recommend reviewmyelearning.com for both Captivate and Storyline.
