Capturing Every Bunny the RIGHT Way!

Paquerette Down the Bunburrows Part 8 - one of the three pillars is for home captures. This means capturing a bunny in the room in started in and not stacking the bunnies... as far as I know. This forces me to solve the level in the way the devs intended!

Watching Tyler figure out that he can stack only if it doesnt change their movement was AMAZING. Just seeing him think through it and experiment with the mechanics was so cool to see. Def one of the reasons why I adore this channel

@@scientificthesis He's got an extremely long track record of not being spoiled by comments. Longest run I've seen is 10 episodes. I think he prerecords and releases them slowly to keep the audience feom being overwhelmed and saving up for slow weeks.

The intersection rule? if that's the one where you break walls using 2 bunnies them he already did that before this level, hence the flashback

@@TheCat_3 I think they're talking about the two walls he had to break to stop the bunnies from stutter-stepping. The game mentions that the bunnies will always favor moving left at an intersection, but I guess if the bunny can go left but can see it's a dead end, it'll pick the next option clockwise? I'm not too sure myself but I think that's why the bunnies didn't stutter, since it didn't consider the tunnel as an option.

the intersection rule i think was the one where if the bunny can't move to either the left or the right, it will continue forward. This causes a stutter thing when this is because one or both of them is a tunnel the stack can't enter.

Goodness, i thought Tyler was closing in on the end of the game but seeing that Tyler missed the opportunity to blast the top left tunnel on C-2 possibly into a glitched area, which is understandable cause Tyler had to clean his mindset of dropping bunnies to holes cuz of the quest, this game still had a LOOOOT uncovered. I imagine there's so many inconspicuous dead end tunnels that can be blasted by midtunnel breeding, just sitting in plain sight hiding mysteries.

When you've gotten used to the way the bunnies pathfind from playing the game, it's actually not quite so subtle at all - you notice pretty quickly that it's what happens when the bunnies can't take a tunnel because they're stacked. The only leap of logic is going from "it doesn't count as a home capture if they're stacked" to "it doesn't count as a home capture *if you're using the stack to make the puzzle easier*"

Game literacy. He already experienced the rule "stacked bunnies break home capture" so if you’re set on that assumption you’re gonna struggle to figure it out. But I guess this level made it clear enough that you HAD to stack to bunny to have any chance of progress so if you get that and you’re willing to question your own assumption, the question becomes "what exactly makes stacking bunny break the home capture?" and while the stutter had already had one use in the game (communicate to the player that stacked bunny won’t enter small holes) when you’re looking for something related to bunny stacking that would differentiate home capture from non-home capture, reusing that stutter animation for this purpose makes a lot of sense. Basically, if it wasn’t stuttering, that’d either mean "all bunny stacking break Home Capture and you have to figure a way to captures N19 bunnies without stacking them" or "you can stack bunnies and still Home Capture them but there’s something related to stacking that breaks Home Capture and there’s absolutely no visual indicator whatsoever to explain to you what actually breaks it". It really speaks for how well the game is designed, but also for AliensRock experience in deciphering clues in game design, plus being good enough at puzzle to quickly understand and be sure that there’s no way to complete N19 without stacking.

​@@Senen33I think that's bad design. You can get one of the N19 home captures without doing that, but not the other one, and no other room in the game requires it. It's not even close to obvious enough that there's no way around it, considering all of the other inventive stuff the game has you do.

Are they sometimes easier? Sure, but I rarely like having a game where your using your brain to solve things being updated invalidating your solution. Not sure if you knew already, but those white bunny ears sticking out of the ground in certain levels (like the top middle at 2:39) are to indicate this bunny hasn't mated yet!

Ah, no, those are just set decoration, particularly belonging to that theme. If you restart a level, the set decoration will also randomize, and you can verify that those appear and disappear without even Paquerette moving. Just to be sure there's no connection, I started a new game, got down to C-17 real quick, brought that bun north to N-17, mated them, exited the bunbarrows entirely, came back, and indeed, the white bunny ears were still sometimes there afterwards.

The stutter step is weird because the bunnies wouldn't normally go that way yet still stutter, i think it might be whenever the psthfinding hets interrupted by being stacked rather than whenever they try to enter.

The bunnies does the stutter thing if they would normally go into a rabbit tunnel if it was by itself, but can't, since it's stacked. Basically, you had to capture the bunnies as if they were a single bunny in their home room to satisfy a home capture.

If a bun has a wall above and below it or to the left and right of it it will keep moving. Because stacks act like tunnels are walls this can cause their movement to change.

i am right now at 13:52 so if its later explained sorry they stutter when they try to enter a bunny path while being stacked. that doesn't work of course so they stutter... but bc they would normally be in the bunny path right now it doesnt count as home capture bc its not as intended... intended would be that they are in the bunny path in that case^^

The home captures are a clever way for the devs to force players to do puzzles the "right" way. Basically exploit and solve in unintended ways all you want but you won't get the true ending. On that note, I'm not sure how I feel about patching out exploits. It may create a better experience for future players but it also seems like the devs just shutting down solutions they didn't like.

the fact they require you to get all babies and all intended solutions means they found a way to get you to redo or replay content, but in a transofrmative enough way that it soesnt feel so reptitive. the content is fresh because you are either getting more babies or getting the intended captures for the first time. It feels like the game was designed for you to maximize baby bunnies first, then go back and do some of the missed, normal puzzles.

So I have yet to play this game so I can't say I understand the mechanics fully but I have a question. At about 13:18 the bun runs through the bottom tunnel ending on the right side. Could you not have put the trap at the other end of the tunnel and sent the bun back through the tunnel? I'm sure there's a reason that couldn't have been done but I haven't caught why. Figured I'd ask.
