CAR FREE DAY in Indonesia's Most Polluted City (JAKARTA) 🇮🇩

Having arrived from the panoramic train ride to Bandung, I was back in the city of Jakarta. I'd heard that there was a so-called "car free day" every Sunday morning, where I could join the local runners and cyclists to enjoy some relief from Indonesia's most polluted city.
I headed towards Monas, the independence monument near Istaqlal masjid, where I would conclude my walk with an incredible view over the momentarily desolate streets of Jakarta. Meeting many friendly locals along the way, including a lady selling a delicious cold coconut, it was amazing to see the city in a different light - free of the traffic congestion and pollution that it is unfortunately notorious for. Mantap!

It was such a shame… though I overslept a little as there had been an earthquake during the night which caused us to evacuate the hotel (and meant little rest)

The Indonesian people are the kindest, willing to help you people on Earth. I know. I lived in Indonesia and was in awe of their kindness. Please be a little less aggressive and you will get "what you want" with less stress. Many times, I have asked for help, and they would say " follow me" or introduce me to someone who could help. Enjoy yourself because it is an incredible country with incredible people. All in all, this was a good reaction.
