Yes car insurance is the biggest rip off in the world and in the United States AT&T is the absolute biggest ripoff company. There are people out there paying AT&T phone bills that literally only have one phone. And are paying more than they would if they were paying for a brand new vehicle car payment Some are even paying what it cost to to have the car payment and the car insurance payment put together of what you would pay for a 50,000 brand new vehicle payment. If you ever want to save money in your life cancel AT&T and save yourself a headache and do it in person even if it means a lengthy Drive. No one should ever be paying more than $50 a month for unlimited phone service. Anything above that in the United States you're being ripped off. And by the way that $50 includes tax.

Also avoid the trap where you give one company all your business (home, auto & umbrella).you think they would reward loyalty but forget it. Shop around!

I just experienced the same scenario with Allstate. I’m 64 years old and I had been with Allstate for years and a clean driving record. I would have been happy to have my rates stay flat but instead they always rose with each policy renewal. This month my auto insurance policy renewal included a $954.00 increase in my yearly rate. This was for a 1994 Ford F 150, liability only, and a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek. I sent two emails to my agent asking for a reason this was happening and got no answer. I contacted an agent who found a comparable policy for me at less then half of what Allstate was charging. I should have done this years ago. Better late then never.

I was with USAA for almost 20 years. When I moved to MD, their quoted rates for home and auto was just too much, so I decided to shop around. Ended up with Progressive Ins based strictly on their rates. BIG MISTAKE on my part. Service was terrible. Rates roses by nearly $400 in less than two years. Found out the reason for the sharp increase was I had used roadside assistance once when my vehicle needed a tow. I couldn't believe they had the audacity to rates my rates that much for using a service I PAID to be included in my policy. Needless to say, I moved on and shall never return. As for any insurance that you purchase.....it does not matter if you get the absolute lowest price for coverage...IF their claim handling is terrible. Unfair and untimely settlements. Slow to respond to your reported claim. Unwilling to use OEM parts for repairs. Unfair and slow third party claim handling. You are paying for insurance coverage and the associated claim handling services offered. You may have pay slightly more to get the coverage and services you expect and deserve.

If you believe your insurance claim wasn’t what you think it should be, contact your state insurance department and file an unfair insurance claim against your insurance company. There is no cost to you and state insurance departments are generally very consumer friendly, but there has to be proof the claim has merit. Getting a lawyer is costly and generally not necessary unless the claim involves bodily injury or a fatality.

I’m retired now, but I was an Independent Multiline Insurance Agent for 38 years. I began as a company agent but I quickly became aware of the limitations that come with being a one company agent. I left that company after 8 years and opened my own Independent Insurance Agency. I eventually obtained contracts with 20 Insurance companies. An independent agent’s advantage is obviously the ability to represent multiple insurance companies. Single company agents obviously attempt to sell and maintain insurance based on their companies name, reputation, and national advertising. The company trains their agent to sell their products based on service and the companies nationally recognized name. They are cautioned not to get in the habit of selling on price because insurance cost are subject to frequent changes. Independent agents can sell on price because they represent multiple insurance companies, so they can easily move their customers to a more competitive company when that’s necessary. They can also provide coverage for virtually any vehicle or any driver with multiple tickets, accidents, or DUI’s. Insurance companies that contract independent agents don’t advertise very much or at all. They leave that up to their agents to advertise their agencies. Obviously that lowers their cost of doing business and that allows them to sell their products at a lower premium. Most folks aren’t aware of Independent Insurance Agents so they naturally gravitate to the State Farm’s, Allstate, and Nationwide type companies assuming they have the lowest rates. An Independent Agent can easily feed your information into their computer and shop your insurance needs with multiple company’s in less than five minutes; and then provide you with a printout with all the companies prices.

This makes sense because I’m currently with Geico,and they raised the price tremendously when I traded my lease. I looked into liberty mutual online and entered basic info, a lady called me and asked me if i wanted her to pull up more quotes from other companies. But I was side eyeing wondering why the agent would do that.

Companies we represent do not have huge advertising expense therefore your opportunity to be matched with best company is much better. There are many variables used in auto rating. Someone with 650 score with similar car and profile $2000. This is often main reason someone has realized a savings when switching companies. Their score has been going up and current company hasn’t checked it for years. I had enough and went shopping for the first time, and everyone was cheaper. I ended up settling on State Farm who said we'll give you more benefits, a lower deductible for $65/month, only catch is you have to use the Drive Safe and Save app. A $27/month savings is worth using the app. This taught me a valuable lesson, and if State Farm ever does what Farmers did, I won't hesitate to leave because it seems like customer loyalty is a thing of the past.

Farmers is one of the highest rated auto insurers for consumers, yes they are a little spendy. Your prices rising had less than nothing to do with your agent. What likely happened is that the cost of providing insurance went up due to volume and frequency of claims, increased replacement value of cars on the road in your area, higher volume of accidents occurring in your area, etc. Farmers does look at credit score in a big way, so if your credit tanked, that makes a huge difference.

My situation is COMPLETELY different from all that BS. First of all, I simply do not buy new cars. I did once, back in 1987, and seriously regretted it. The payments and crazy full coverage insurance ruined 5 years of my life. That was also the last time I bought a car from a stealer dealer, and I will never go near another one of those. I strictly buy used cars from private sellers. I only buy cars at least 20 years old, and as time goes by, my cars will get older. I am currently driving a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, which I bought about 7 years ago, with 47,000 miles on it, for $7200. I'm still driving it, now with 218,000 miles on it. So far, repair cost has been under $500 (parts only, I am a mechanic) It is extremely unlikely I would ever buy anything newer than that. I want nothing to do with the guaranteed to fail TRASH technology they are putting on newer cars. I will likely just replace the engine/transmission/whatever it takes to keep my current car going, or buy another one just like it with fewer miles. And because the monetary value of such a car is so low, I have only ABSOLUTE MINIMUM insurance. Only what my state requires in order to legally drive it. No comprehensive, no collision, no glass replacement, no uninsured/underinsured motorist (I have medical insurance) no towing (I have a separate plan for that) and I am the ONLY covered driver. I am 63. Perfect driving record, own my own house, credit score of 837. My insurance rates are significantly lower than anything you listed, and I use a well known company. I could save even more, but I refuse to deal with a no name company with no customer service and could go out of business at any time.

I find it interesting that people give advice about insurance cost, underwriting criteria, quality of the companies, their claims practices, etc. when it’s obvious to a trained, educated, insurance professional that these people have no idea what they’re talking about and their advice is usually dead wrong. It’s kind of like a layman giving legal advice when they’ve never been to law school. I’m retired but I owned an insurance agency and was in the business for 38 years. Insurance policies are legal contracts and are highly regulated by state insurance departments. Companies cannot arbitrarily raise rates, state departments of insurance must grant rate increases and the individual companies must prove to the state insurance departments that increased rates are necessary to insure the companies solvency and thus their ability to pay claims. I have 6 1/2 years of formal college level courses in Insurance and risk management, from the American Insurance Institute, in order to obtain the designation of Certified Property Casualty Underwriter as well as Accredited Advisor in Insurance. If you want insurance advice ask a qualified insurance representative because your friends and neighbors don’t know any more about insurance than you do. If your agent has no professions designations then you might want to consider finding one that does. Captive agents represent a single company such as State Farm, Nationwide, and Allstate. These are all fine companies. Independent agents represent multiple national companies such as Safeco, State Auto, Hartford, Travelers. etc. That gives them the ability to shop your insurance with multiple national companies to find their customers the best price with a quality national insurance company.

I have USAA auto insurance which just went up $36.00 more per month. I live in Florida and apparently they just changed the laws making it more expensive for car owners. Of course two hurricanes in a little overza month didn'.t help. More increases in auto claims from flooded out vehicles.

I switched from State Farm to Allstate, they asked for and I provided state farm with my policy info. A few months later I started getting calls from collection agencies. State Farm turned me over to a collection agency. I explained and a few months later another collections agency representing State Farm again started calling. State Farm SOLD my account to 3 separate collection agencies on 3 occasions despite my having insurance with Allstate, that they could easily verify, that I provided them proof of. The last one was angry at ME, saying I owed THEM at least 10% as THEY HAD PAID STATE FARM FOR MY DEBT insisting that even though I had proof, I legally owed them for what they had paid State Farm.

How does Esurance rate? One month ago I had was rear-ended. The person who hit me was insured by Esurance. Been trying to contact the company but the person handling the claim is always "working from home." Leaving a message and sending e-mails gets no responses. Finally I got to talk to a person there who said they did not have the police report of the accident. I sent it to them. Also was told the person who hit me had a maximum property damage coverage of only $15,000. My got the worst damage of the three vehicles involved in the accident.
@geraldscott4302 Жыл бұрын
$15,000 property damage is the minimum legal requirement in most states. I don't see anything wrong with that. Many people drive without insurance because they simply cannot afford it, but still have to get to work, stores, doctors, etc. I will never own a car worth more than $15,000. I have minimum liability insurance. Most of my assets are part of a trust, meaning they are untouchable. My income comes from a trust, which means it is also untouchable. Which means that I am worth virtually nothing, which makes me lawsuit proof. If I chose to drive an expensive vehicle, it should be my responsibility to insure it. Being poor should not prevent you from owning and driving a car.

This should NOT be used in tabulating insurance premiums,but Florida is one of seven states that pull this bullshit game!! I will note this video is providing misleading information regarding car insurance cost throughout the country. He is quoting averages based on statistical data. The chances any one person would be able to obtain the quoted rates are highly unlikely. Insurance rates are highly regulated by state insurance departments. Each companies cost for insurance is determined by their states insurance department. If you think insurance is too expensive complain to your state insurance department because they are the ones that approve what individual companies charge for insurance.
