This movie spoke volumes, and the cast was perfect. I can't believe they did a remake, that sucked. This movie is a classic. Richard Pryor as always was perfectly funny... and what can we say about the glamorous, always harmonious Pointer Sisters, they came, they took us to church and SLAYED those vocals like only they can..

The Pointer Sisters were always on point. That's when all 4 sister were together. I'm from Detroit Motown. But I live here in the Bay area California. And their music was on point like Motown. I remember this movie when it first came out. I was a kid. That theme song was popular via 'Rose Royce.' The 70s were a good and fun time, where music was a major part of the movie. Especially with Motown being behind a lot of it.

What a fantastic, quite subversive movie! Great storyline with all the hard working car wash staff, and the bizarre customers they have come in for a car wash. A classic, no wonder it's considered 'cult status' long after it didn't do well at the box office. One of Richard Pryor's firsts, played it brilliantly and of course the music is awesome too! The 'prosperity theology' idea has been part of American history since forever, it's intriguing.

Well, I always feel like this DIVINE piece of funk (a FUN KEY!) goes by too fast, so I slowed it down to .5x and wow, was that hilarious. Pryor sounds drunk, or, you know, like he had a stroke. The song itself slowed THAT much is a little strange, but still enjoyable, and the faces everybody makes are funnier. But so then I slowed it down to .75x (3/4 time, like the incarnation of the Sisters post-Bonnie, 3 out of 4, perhaps?) and VOILA, fucking magic, it's exactly how it should be, in my opinion. The original 1x song is still more danceable, but the .75x version really seeps into your ears and soul. But, so, anyway...why not? Why not believe in June? Why couldn't she be God? THE God, the MOST HIGH...and when you think about it, who else has ever been higher? The woman smoked enough crack to kill 300,000 manatees. Anyway, I believe in her. And I believe in me, now, too. I suppose I'm the Pryor-figure, the preacher, the messiah-figure, whatever. I am what I am, as Popeye said! 🤷🏻♂️

After the boss insulted Duane (Bill Duke) in this scene , Duane left the car wash and joined the military. He became known as Mac and joined an elite team of Commandos. Years later he came back to town and ‘took out’ all the people who pissed him off. Sadly the next year he was lost in the jungle fighting an alien Predator.
