Things don't always go to plan as you said and no-one is infallible. Great to see a mechanic honest enough to show mistakes and then rectify the problem. Yes it's frustrating, yes it costs you time and money but does wonder for your reputation. Thanks for posting, thoroughly enjoyed. Regards.

Trying to get mine going for the first time since 2011 (on the road anyway). Sorted rusted fuel tank. Cleaned out and welded a new patch in and POR15 to seal it 👍New vacuum seal/gasket on fuel tap AFTER i got the tank nice and clean . Just had carbs off for a few days and replaced most of the seals, cleaned emulsion tubes and thanks for your video! I had another look at the holes after spinning them carefully in a drill with Autosol (nice and shiny) and as the were sooo small they filled up and became solid like paint in a very short time as so little had to dry. Checked and checked again cleaned with needle files and a good spray and all holes clear now. I wanted to keep mostly OEM parts in the carbs so reluctant to change float needles. I set floats to17.0mm + - 1.0mm on a vernier but after doing a bench test today fuel poured out of the front of them from those tiny holes near the butterflys and yes I've tapped them. Looks like i'll be changing those tomorrow. My pilot screws were 3 1/4 turns out when I checked on disassembly so I put the new ones back in the same not the 1 3/4 it says in Haynes and all over the internet. It ran fine and started previously so thought best left. Thanks for video really helped 👍 2 Days later 02/112024 Installed 4 new float needles and after an hour on a bench test no leaks PHEEEEW

Excellent Mark, glad you got the Bandit running right in the end, these things happen, it’s pretty frustrating when you’ve spent time working on carbs and finding you have to go back and do it all again in quick succession. I had Kawasaki GT750 that repeatedly had carb issues very similar to the bandit, even after taking it to a bike mechanic it still played up from time to time. Anyhow another interesting video, thanks mate.

steve top job but do mind your own body. bended back end your knees my friend, they are much harder to fix than bikes. question, did you ever came across worn needles and emulsion tubes? almost forgot, to clean them pilot jets ask a guitar player for the thinnest string. they go to 0.006 inch

We were told by the customer the work had already been done (by someone else, some time ago) so all they wanted us to do was a quick clean and refit to the bike. As it turned out this wasn’t the case.

Alright now. I'm here in New Hampshire. With one of those red bikes on my porch now. (Your's is blue) All about fb MP and a motorcycle campaign I started in Feb. So my campaign started with the realization that there are many "fast bikes" available on fbMP for well, what would be about 500 quid. or $600.00. Right? Literally from a container (in West Virginia ~Honda cb750 Nighthawk) and then from (not sure where~an 18 year old sold the bike ~ southern New Hampshire ~ 98'. 1200 Bandit) And then last week, local, the red bike. 600cc Bandit. So I am a mess with three 'go fast' bikes, all $600. That's $1800.00. All with potential. All needing a new battery and that four barrel rebuild. So the lift is coming on the porch, the red bike is being switched with the black Honda and I'll start with that. Fair is fair. I checked for the Alcohol Anonymous schedule locally. But really don't have the time for meetings. Not gonna lie. I'll keep an eye on that blue bike of yours. And of course subscribe. Thank you.〰✨👍✨.〰. - Steve from New Hampshire.

Excellent video! Was there any sign of rust particles in the carbs when you cleaned the float valve seats? My bandit had dumped a third of fuel from the tank of into the engine oil too and cleaning the carbs I found the main culprit - rusty gas tank plus torn filter diaphragms on the petcock, both for the reserve and the main fuel supply. Do you reckon adding an inline fuel filter from now on is a valid solution or should I find myself a new petcock?

Try a pair of mole grips very carefully to assist turning the screw whilst using a screw driver. It’s a two person thing but should get it out

Great video i was wondering I have the same issue with my bandit I've cleaned the carbs out but am still getting petrol in the oil sump what ended up being the issue final. I've cleaned the carbs and had them clean but others but still the same trouble

Get the float valves out and polish the float seats. They are not removable but you can polish them with a cotton bud and some T-cut

How does the engine oil get petrol in it, might be a stupid question but I know nothing about engines lol
@themobilemotorbikemechanic
@themobilemotorbikemechanic 27 күн бұрын
If fuel leaks in to the engine (because the carb float valves are not working correctly) it will run down inside the cylinders and leak past the piston rings and contaminate the engine oil. Hope that explains it.
