KTM 390 & Triumph Street Triple Motorbike, Non Starters, Why?

We investigate why this KTM 390 & Triumph Street Triple motorcycle won't start. They both seem to be suffering from the same problem, which is very unusual!

Nice video again, do you changing only motor in fuel pump or whole set of pump?

We replaced only the fuel pumps on this occasion as there was nothing wrong with the fuel level sensors etc.

Hi Steve I have a suzuki er 50 1982 is it better to drain fuel tank and run carburetor dry or run it up over winter thank you thank you for sharing

I don't know about that. I had a first series BMW K100 with the Jetronic injection system. Bought it, busted my knee and it stood for 1,5 years under a tarp in the garden. Cleaned her up (oil, sparks and fresh fuel) and she started right up. On the first proper ride I put Forté I & II in the fuel and after some 20 minutes the vibrations became much less and she purred, for a BMW K100 that is. It all depends on which system is used. BTW, my present bike is a Yamaha FZS600 with carbs. That all being said: modern day fuel is bad, very bad. It's filled with all kinds of crap that turn to mayonaise when the fuel gets old. But that will trip up both injectors and the nozzles in the carbs.

See this issue a lot. Fuel turns to jelly and plays havoc with pumps, injectors, carbs etc. fuel stabiliser definitely helps

Do you think that the amount of time a bike sits unused has any effect on a fuel pump failure? Lots of cobwebs on the rear tyre of the Street Triple.

We replaced the fuel pumps and sadly that was on another day when the camera lady wasn’t available.

Why would a fuel pump care about the grade of fuel it's pumping?

The pump doesnt care so long as its liquid, but when it turns to jelly the pump is overloaded and burns out

Or water in the fuel rusts the tank and kills the pump. That happened to my cb500f sitting 3 years.@@themobilemotorbikemechanic

14:12 the screen message says both bikes were imported from a country that uses lower grade fuel and they suspect this might be why both bikes had pumps that failed.

Should you be working in fuel systems in a public place? Surely with the risk of spilling fuel onto the road, or potential fire or explosion this can't be legal? I think the customer would be pretty annoyed if you got petrol all over his nice block paved driveway.
