Getting those V4 carbs are a pain when the carb boots are so old... When I bought my bike It took some proper leverage to pull them out and my full body weight to push them back in. Whoever reads this comment and have an old Honda V4, my advice is buy new rubbers, for whatever reason they have come down in price quite a bit recently and you never know when they will stop manufacturing them. Mine are from Tourmax. My VFR 750 carb boots were hard as rocks and eventually broke after fitting them a 3rd time. Bought new ones and they slid right in without much efort with a bit of grease. My trick is to always fit both rear ones loosely, not properly pushing them to either the carb or engine side and push in the front ones first with the boots already fit to the engine side. To me it felt there was more room for everything to slide where necessary without forcing anything at a weird angle.

What a great little bike. At least it should go as well as it looks now. 👍

Good video Steve, like the tip with the bit of tube, to help with the screw!! I’ve not heard about balancing the carbs around 3000revs before, so they’re on main jets, that’s a good tip, usually when I balance mine they’re just on pilots, at tick over, I will try that in future! Thanks for sharing!!

Hi John Thanks for your comments. We do try to show as much as we can but these are customer bikes that need repairing first and foremost so filming comes second. Stick with the channel and you’ll get to see more as we develop our filming skills 👍🏻

When you were balancing the carbs the temporary fuel bottle appears to be lower then the float bowls, is there a pump in there somewhere or am I missing something?
@themobilemotorbikemechanic6 ай бұрын
It is just a gravity feed bottle so it may have been a camera angle thing.

Great video mate, what boost pack do you use, looking at a few different ones myself, always good to hear from others that use one

He’s using a Noco GB40 by the look of it. Got one myself. Great bit of kit. Started a completely dead Transit with mine.

Yes it is a NOCO GB40. It’s pretty good for bikes but you may want something a bit bigger for regular use on cars etc.

First thing I would do is invest in a set of JIS drivers for working on any Japanese bikes.
