Total this build cost $3100ish. I misspoke on the brakes. 🤦🏻♂️ They are Magura MT5

Sweet build! I'm waiting on my Carbonda FM-936 frame to show up right now, so my apartment has bike parts all over the place... I was nervous about going with a trail or enduro frame since the riding gets more rowdy, so I went with a XC. I hope the FM1001 holds up through the chunky stuff and drops etc! I would definitely consider one in the future if so

I have nearly 1000 miles on it at this point. So far so good!

I've been running advent x as well and it is such a good deal! Right now it's on sale at chain reaction so you can get the whole kit for 90 bucks! That's less than an NX cassette from Sram

It's definitely the best value I've found. Very durable, pretty light, enough range. It's not worth spending more for anything else in my opinion.

Hi Kurt: I have been looking at this frame due to the geo numbers etc. Have you tried other downcountry style bikes like this? I am really interested in how we the bike handles technical climbs? Are the suspension pivots bearings or bushings?
@kurtmaxwell3203 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I would call this a downcountry bike. I guess if you went with a shorter stroke shock and shorter fork it could be, but I used the same stroke shock and fork that the khs 6600 and Sherpa Massif use. 150f and 135r travel. They are classified as Enduro/Trail bikes respectively. Despite the slack head tube angle and long wheel base it climbs great! Not as well as the hardtail I came from, but I've been very impressed. There are no bushing. Bearings only. It's very smooth!

Very nice build! How good is the painting? Did any chips or scratches appear?
@kurtmaxwell3203Ай бұрын
Paints pretty decent. I have a couple chips, but most of it is my fault. A few wrecks and what not

I'm thinking about getting one of these frames, how is the bike holding up these days?

I love it! My brother built one too. We have had great experiences with this frame.

I'm thinking of buying this frame, how much did it cost for just the frame? do you think it will be ok with a 190x51mm rear shock instead of 185x50?
@kurtmaxwell32037 ай бұрын
I wouldn't use anything but what is recommended for the shock. Here's a cost breakdown in USD Frame $750 Painting $75 Rear axle $15 Headset $15 Rear derailleur hangers $5 Shipping $190 PayPal fee $47

About 4 weeks.

how is it going? did you hit drops and jumps? any issues with frame?
@kurtmaxwell32034 ай бұрын
No issues at all. I'm probably over 2000 miles now. I don't hit big jumps or drops often, but it's handled what I have hit exceptionally well. Still very impressed.

Hi, can you please tell whether 29er 2.6 tires fit into frame or not? You installed 2.4 but is there a space to install wider tire?
@kurtmaxwell3203 Жыл бұрын
I would say there is room for 2.6, but that's probably the max for 29ers.
