NEW YORK, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) reached a settlement potentially worth $150 million to resolve U.S. class-action litigation tied to recalls of about 3.36 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles whose defective fuel pumps could cause engines to stall. A preliminary settlement was filed on Wednesday night in federal court in Brooklyn. It requires a judge's approval. The settlement covers owners and lessees of dozens of Toyota and Lexus vehicle models manufactured in the 2013 to 2020 model years and equipped with Denso low-pressure fuel pumps. Honda Recalls: Brake and Rearview Camera Defects Honda recently issued recalls for various models due to brake and rearview camera defects. These recalls address potential safety hazards that can result in accidents and injuries. Unexpected Loss of Brake Function: Honda recalled over 124,000 Civic, Passport, and Pilot vehicles, including certain model year 2020-2021 Civic, 2020-2023 Ridgeline, 2021-2023 Passport, 2021-2022 Pilot, and 2020 Acura MDX vehicles. The recall was prompted by concerns that the vehicles could experience an unexpected loss of brake function, increasing the risk of a crash. Defective Brake Holds: Another recall impacted nearly 400 model year 2023 Civic, Accord, Acura RDX, and Acura Integra vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured with defective brake holds, leading to potential movement while the brake hold is activated. Honda plans to notify impacted vehicle owners by mail, starting from July 24. Rearview Camera Concerns: Honda recalled over 1.1 million Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport vehicles due to defective rearview cameras that may not display properly. This recall applies to model year 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2022 Honda Pilot, and 2019-2023 Honda Passport vehicles. A non-functional rearview camera can compromise the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Class Action Lawsuits against Honda In addition to the recalls, Honda is facing class action lawsuits that allege serious defects in its vehicles' components. Variable Timing Control Actuator Defect: A class action lawsuit filed against Honda claims that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles with defective variable timing control actuators. The alleged defect, affecting model year 2012-2014 CR-Vs, 2012 Accords, and 2012-2015 Crosstours, can lead to catastrophic engine failure and poses a safety hazard. Defective Electric Power Steering Systems: Two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Honda, asserting that model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles were manufactured with defective electric power steering systems. These systems may "stick," requiring an increase in steering effort, leading to overcorrections and potential collisions. Electric Braking System Sticking: Another class action lawsuit argues that Honda sold model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles with electric braking systems that can stick at highway speeds. This alleged defect can cause vehicle owners to overcorrect, increasing the risk of collisions.

2025 Pilot ex-l owner here. The driving experience was just soo much better than anything else. I think the main reason is that they nailed the ergonomics. Everything just feels right. I also like the tiny details nobody talks about, like how the HVAC fan goes to low when you use voice controls (This makes Apple' Siri so much easier to use), the blower automatically switches from outside air to recirc when you set AC to max (so you keep cooling the existing interior air which helps it get cold faster), the dome lights go on as you approach, the walk-away auto-lock is great, all HVAC controls are button and knobs with great tactile feel, doors unlock as soon as you touch the handles, ACC and LCAS work well, steering wheel controls for cruise control feel great to use, . The screen is smaller than competitors' but the aspect ratio is right, it is positioned high in your view but doesn't block view through windshield, it has really good black levels, and it works the way it should. It seems like Honda aimed for neutral visual and design aesthetics but put a ton of effort into fine tuning all the tiny details that contribute to your experience.

@@RedShiftedDollarI have the Hyundai Santa Fe which in the 2022 model year was basically a baby Palisade. The Santa Fe and Hyundai have pretty much one of the best smart cruise control systems that’s not a hands free option. The AC fan settles down during calls as well. I have the same feeling with my Santa Fe fully loaded. It just has all the fine details covered. It’s much nicer than my wife’s X3 in all but the sporty driving you get with the BMWs. One great thing about Hyundai is that fantastic warranty. Sure Hondas have proven track record for reliability but a 10yr / 100k mile warranty sets me at ease. I go for the models that are actually made in Korea vs say Mexico. Can easily tell by the VIN numbers. Korean models VIN start with K.

You need to get your speedometer recalibrated if you went down to 18 inch rims. The suv is already smooth with 20 inch wheels. Now with 18 inch wheels your vehicle is going to lean more with bigger tire side walls and will have a bumpier ride. I wouldn’t call it smooth!

The Honda has a heft to it that the palisade doesn’t. It drives a bit smoother for the engine. It’s a bit more business and less tech oriented. That said the palisade is super nice in the top trims, it has awesome tech and design. I can see why people like them. But for me it’s the pilot and the way it drives. There’s something about the steering, handling and overall drive feel that just is better. The car sort of is super refined. The way it drives is premium compared to the competition- like the smooth ride and control. Great body control and composure when you hustle it. I’m a moderately aggressive driver and I love that I can drive fast and aggressive in the pilot without bothering my passengers. It drives like an Acura or Audi in its chassis solidity. It translates in the ride quality which isn’t just soft but also sophisticated enough to blend comfort, agility, road communication and control together. It’s all possible because of that chassis and awd system. This is like a discount MDX and I’m loving that I can get that Acura feel minus the price tag. With Hyundai I thought it was good but felt like a step below of what the VW atlas drives like. I just liked the Honda but they are both awesome. Drive what you love.

I’ve driven Hondas and Accuras for over twenty-five years. I had a hard time leaving the brand but I bought a ‘24 Palisade Calligraphy in August ‘23. I have absolutely loved driving this car…only 5k on the car so far, so I know that I have a while to go before I can really speak to reliability, but I can speak to the luxurious interior, the trustworthy drivers assistance package and overall comfort. It’s been beyond my expectation. I don’t regret not going with the Pilot.

I’ve taken one 600 mile round trip vacation in it and it was extremely comfortable, and felt secure on the road. The driver assistance package was really welcomed on interstate driving. If you purchase a Palisade, I hope you are as happy as I am. You can’t go wrong with a Honda, but this car deserves a look. With more and more recalls these days (today Honda recalled 200k vehicles for fuel pump issue), not sure if HONDA still offers same quality that they did earlier. Also, Hyundai has DOUBLE warranty on powertrain and more warranty overall. So, if something goes bad in your Honda, it will be costlier to repair than Hyundai.

These guys do a really nice job reviewing vehicles. They give a good overall perspective that can aid in your decision on which vehicles to put on your short list. In addition, before you make a final decision, I would also recommend looking at the NHTSA for recalls and complaints for reliability and iihs for vehicle safety if that is important to you. They both add nicely to their reviews.

Most comments I have seen that favor the Honda focus on their reliability. I am curious to see how long a period these two cars are retained. Considering the length of Hyundai's warranty, anything under to 5 years of ownership would be a moot point. I have owned several Hyundai autos and only "once" had to return to service for anything other than routine maintenance. That was in 2012 and wasn't mechanical.

One thing I don't see a lot of other csr reviews talk about (including you guys) on the Pilot is the impact of the drive train and the impressive torque vectoring and its ability to shift power (I think up to 70% to a single wheel) as needed. Would love for your assessment of that aspect between the two!

I am 6'6" and owned a 2022 Hyundai Palisade for 2 years. I traded it in for a 2024 Honda Pilot solely because for whatever reason it started to feel cramped and I often kept hitting head on the top of the door frame when I would get in. I guess I'm getting clumsier in my old age. Anyway, at first I was disappointed in the ride of the Honda, but I think that has been a matter of something mentioned by @110382. 20" wheels look cool, but they don't ride as well as 18" wheels. If the cabin sizes were the same, I would prefer the Hyundai Palisade, but the Honda Pilot is no slouch. I went with the Touring version as it has most of the features of the Elite and is a few thousand dollars less.

I have almost finalised to Palisade SEL premium with 2nd row bench seat option. I will use the vehicle max for 3 years. My question is Pilot 2025 better than Palisade 2024 SEL for resale value post 3 years? Second - I've heard there's lot of engine failure issues for Hyundai and Palisades, is it true?

Ppl crying about reliability shouldn’t worry about the 3 years only warranty on the honda which is a scam to begin with .. they make you pay more since most people hold cars for atleast 5 years … atleast your safer on the palisade with all warranty coverage and also has the tech and luxury to go with .. so no brains on which one is better I’d say
