Oh wait did he go to Chicago auto pros because that's what they did to me. They said they paint corrected then ceramic coated my zl1 with swirls in it. Then to top it off went through my trunk and just left all my stuff floating about. They never coated my rims and definitely didn't do under my spoiler. I went to them because they were the most expensive and boy did I get screwed.

Absolutely amazing results. Bravo sir. As a detailer myself in las vegas NV I can say I have done several zl1 camaros and none of them had paint that poor or soft. This is most likely due to the car being made in Australia and possibly not the same paint or painting process Gm uses in the USA. Also I have measured thicker paint on the zl1 model compared to the SS I believe there is a difference possibly in the clear coat used on zl1 models vs the SS. I haven't done any lower model camaros so don't those measurements to compare.

Had to go back to part 1 and see how bad it was again. Wow proper master you are. Is the owner talking with the dealer about the shitty job that was done prior? Bowdens say that alot of their products can "stack" ontop of ceramic coating... would you recommend doing this? Or just too risky with the soft paint? And... Having a white car atm, it is 100% the clean cheat car, and I miss my phantom black mica car from back in the day, black hard to keep clean but super rewarding when you clean it well
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s all about finding a good balance. A top coat sealant over a coating can give it extra slickness and reduce friction when washing so it may further help prevent swirls if it’s a good product. But at the same time, the less you touch this paint the better!

@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
It’s really what I said in the video. Any good coating can last ten years, but if the car is actually regularly used the paint will look like trash at that point. Coating warranties are very questionable things as well and I understand that people like to have a warranty but it honestly doesn’t mean one coating is better than another it just means that the coating brand wants you to think that it is.

Mate your a legend, its that simple, i really cant find anyone out there that would have the products and the expertise to to such a soft pint and the massive amount of swirls noted on the pint, most detailers would not have the products range to tackle such a soft paint let alone polish it to near perfection its that simple well done Sandro keep up the great work, just one question, you did a Camaro SS as well, why was that one so different, after all its just added extra features ie: ZL1 to a SS, so the paint should be the same right? Or maybe the first Built dates had used different paint and then Chevy changed suppliers or paint systems etc?

Hi Sandro, thanks so much for another great series. I found your channel last year during lock down, your videos are entertaining, but also I am learning so much about how to look after my own cars! I have 1 question, with relation to quality ceramic coatings lasting 3 or 4 years on a daily driven car. My partners VW Golf R had a quality ceramic coat applied from new 3 years ago, now, as it ages, what is the best way to keep the car looking great long term? Can we just have more coating applied? Or will it need a correction first, or another step to remove the remanence of the old coating?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, and the way I usually treat my own cars is after 2-3 years I’ll give it a good decontamination wash, some light paint correction to both remove the old coating and get the paint looking great again, and then re-coat it. You really can’t just apply a new coating without doing the proper preparation first or it just won’t last or perform well and the paint just won’t look great.
@RUSSM83 жыл бұрын
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing thanks so much for your reply. Will see how the coating lasts over the next year or two and then look at that next. Hey Sandro, thanks for that video series. Really good watch and great end result. Bizarrely enough, I've recently seen a very similar problem - huge paint thickness readings but damn near impossible to work on ultra soft paint. In not saying its the exact same issue as here, but it is possible! It was a brand new Ferarri F8 Tributo. Paint depth readings all over the car in the 200 to 300+ range. It took major investigation, including a technician from Ferarri in Italy flying over, to figure out exactly what the hell was going on with it. He did a lot of back tracking of the cars build process and it turns out that, after the final clear coat stage in the factory, it had been failed by quality control because there was an issue with the shipment of clear coat they had been sent in that it wasn't bonding properly to the paint. So, apparently the clear was sanded off all over the car and it went back through the paint cycle again. The technician reckons thats what explains the huge thickness readings and the really difficult and touchy finish - its basically had two layers of base paint and then three layers of clear on top. Needless to say Ferarri took the car back to Maranello and replaced it with a brand new one. Which is good, because a sneeze in the wrong direction would have made the car look like it had been washed with a sponge dipped in a puddle!
