Can you skate paper? Hell yeah you can! We just posted our Cardboard Chaos series with Ernest Packaging where we see how far paper can go. The goal, make a skateboard out of cardboard that can handle the real elements of skateboarding. With legendary skateboard builder Paul Schmitt and the design crew at Ernest Packaging we build a few different boards until we land on one that is good enough for one of the best skateboarders in the world, Tony Hawk.

I love skating, snowboarding, and all the stuff that comes with it, and this channel brings all of that in a new and unique way. I imagine this cardboard material just wouldn't have the same kind of pop as a wooden deck. However, if the board is actually really, noticeably lighter than a regular board, then I'd definitely be interested in owning one and seeing how it goes. Interesting idea!

Chris Kringle Thin slices of wood is what you get when you whittle a tree branch or piece of lumber. Paper is the cellulose fibre that's separated from the wood or other sources that's compressed into a thin sheet. Google images of pulp.

I'd like to see how it does on a board where your feet don't go directly over the trucks or under that kind of stress in general. There was that one example at the park but that's not much. I'd like to see someone boardslide it, or make a longboard with big cutouts. For even more rigorous testing, a drop thru.

Interesting concept. Corrugated cardboard is a pretty sophisticated thing. It’s a composite, sort of, as well as a stressed skin panel. Nevertheless, even with the most hi tech materials like carbon fiber, it’s hard to beat wood!

I’ve been trying to make a small functional bridge in my living room with cardboard and hot glue. So far my attempts have failed. I have been watching KZbin to research techniques to see if it’s possible. Thank you for your inspirational video. Do you think it’s possible for a hobbyist to build a weight bearing bridge out of cardboard? If it works I’ll have to post it on my channel. So far I’ve learned that It’s not just paper, it’s the glue and other materials used with the cardboard that give the structure strength.

Technically it's not a cardboard or paper skateboard if it's made with carbon fiber and resin - then it's a carbon fiber resin skateboard with a cardboard template.

i feel like we are missing the fact that its now mostly polyurethane by volume. its a paper core used to soak up poly, so its resin and fibers, like fiberglass or carbon fiber, only instead of graphite or spun glass for the fibers, you got cellulose from paper. the impressive part is the resin. its an epoxy skateboard cast around a paper scaffolding. so i hate how its mentioned repeatedly as "100 percent cardboard" nope. try like 30 percent cardboard. you would say your factory wall is 100 percent pure steel even though the concrete has steel bars in it. its a composite. this bothers me greatly.

ok Hawk is one of those guys who can skate on a toaster with wheels. it works for Hawk on vert, but will it even bounce when popping a flat ollie for an average joe skater? Some cheap wooden boards dont bounce because bad wood or poor construction which makes it hard to learn or to evolve with them.
