@qrais That's probably the only compliment in the comments that's been positive about the voice/editing work done. Cheers!

Most ankle sprains are an inversion sprain. However, eversion sprains do occur as well, but the classic sprain is an inversion injury. Consider my other video on ankle sprain explained

I still, don't quite understand which joint you are referring to. Each bone position and joint range of motion is very, VERY, different. In my other video, I described the orientation of the Ankle Joint Complex "The spacial orientation of this joint’s axis in relation to the three cardinal body planes is: 8 degrees from transverse plane, 82 degrees from the sagittal plane, and 20-30 degrees from the frontal plane."

thank you so much! It makes much more sense looking at these things on a screen!

so, Dorsi flexion is in the sagittal plane then? and the axis?

@jemai852 The angles and degrees for each joint are different. This video provides more of a visual overview of the motions, but each joint is going to have a more specific and different "story" to tell. I based most of my fundamental biomechanics on "Clinical Biomechanics of the Lower Extremities" by Ronald L. Valmassy DPM MS

It varies from patient to patient. What I will say, is that Valmassey's textbook is an excellent reference for lower extremity Biomechanics

thank you for your kind reply..is inversion pronation or supantion though...it always confuses me
@maximusp210

when you sprain your ankle, is that pronation pr suppination?
@laufcra
@laufcra 11 жыл бұрын
My professor told me that supination consists of inversion, adduction, and plantarflexion, but he also said that "During supination the lateral forefoot dorsiflexes and the medial forefoot plantarflexes. During pronation, the lateral forefoot plantarflexes and the medial forefoot dorsiflexes" These seem to be counter-intuitive, I would think that in supination the medial forefoot is dorsiflexing and lateral is plantarflexing. Do you have any idea what he means?
@DrGlassDPM

No problem at all. Inversion is a component of supination. Hope this helps :-)

@gargeer5 There is a discrepancy in the literature. Anatomic and orthopedic literature will commonly refer to abduction/adduction as what is in frontal plane, for the lower extremity. Podiatric Biomechanics tend to favor the terminology presented in this illustration

@fattoes786 Yeah, I'll have to take direct blame for that. Kelly, the narrator in that video did a pretty darn good job. It was her first narration experience. Unfortunately, it was also my first voice editing experience, too. I think I got a little carried away with taking out dead space. (or what I thought was dead space). Hopefully our newer stuff is less rapid

I found this very helpful, but I also found that the speech was too fast. I have a learning disability that makes me process information slowly. So I have to watch this many times to to understand what is being said. I am still thankful though....very thankful.
