The problem is just the lower power level of budget decks in general since you essentially have a smaller card pool to choose from, which has always been the same -- hence why optimized deck are almost never in a budget range. In most spots pictured the opposing interaction could've been not-free and would've worked the same. This video might not get that many likes, but I seriously hope you give this type of video another chance. This wasn't an FNM, it was a big quarterly local tournament. The skill level was much higher here. I'm sure we would have performed better with our brews if we went to an FNM, but it's also harder to film and there is more chance that we play against each other :)

One little Thing for the Dimir Ring Match From Carl. Tapping the Ring is the only Cost to the Ability. Putting a Counter happens only on Resolution. Meaning that when Carl tried to Kill Shelly in Response to the Ring tap and his opponent untapped and tapped it in Response with Minamo the Ring should only Draw 2. Then after Shelly dies they draw 3.

A format me and my friends invented called "Double Commander" The Rules are kind of simple > You have two commanders (which can be any two legendary cards including artifacts and enchantments but excluding lands) > And you have to build the deck in the color of the commanders > The deck is 60 cards with singleton rules excluding basic lands > The starting life is 30 Additional notes Backgrounds are banned and cards with partner and similar mechanics are also banned from the command zone Your deck cannot have a Companion Popular Double Commanders Include some common themes Tribal Commander (Runo Stormkirk and Kenessos) Similar Strategy Commanders (Landfall with Omnath Locus of Creation and Yarok) And aggro(?) (Having a legendary equipment like embercleave and another creature, Yargle and Multani in my friends deck)

As someone who doesn't play Magic, and has no idea what anything actually does... Why are Leyline and Solitude allowed if they seem to autowin games?
@theGeross Жыл бұрын
13:00 I believe the burden counter gets added to the ring as part of the resolution. Therefore Max should only get to draw 2 cards after untapping and activating the ring again, gaining 4 life, and then draw 3 cards after for the first activation. It would put Max at 9 life instead of 11. Probably wouldn't have mattered since Carl chose not to draw cards but would have made the difference if he topdecked another lightning bolt. Easy to miss interaction so I'm sure it was an honest mistake but I just thought I'd point it out.

a 2-4 record for the "winner" of the contest is absolutely playing for content also, that Wizard Ring deck looks so fun and if i were to advise one thing for trying to make Treasure Hunt work, play Nephalia Academy. it's perfect against Thoughtseize and Grief on the play, especially since you're likely to lose game 1 since you're basically on a meme deck. and with a playset being only a dollar at best, it fits perfectly into the budget strategy

Gotta love the casual GRV Max performed against Carl, (The One Ring adds a counter on resolution so it should have been tapped, response with Flame of Anor to kill sheoldred, untap ring tap again, put counter number 2 draw 2 gain 4, then flame dies, then ring resolves again going up to 3 counters drawing 3 cards), followed straight up by what looks like a missed detrimental trigger? (clearly had untapped between the ring going up to 3 counters and the end of that game, but somehow was still on 11 life instead of the 8 with the prior GRV mistake or 6 without it)

I remember discovering MTGGoldfish in KZbin back in 2014. I was so hyped for this game. And that was my re-discovery! I started playing the game back in 2002... I used to play 60 cards kitchen table decks, it was so much fun... After a big pause (8ish years), in 2014 I gladly started playing Commander, Modern and Pioneer. I used to be excited about making my own brews and come up with my own stuff! Now the only format where I still get that vibe is my cube. I guess I'll limit myself to that. Feels sad though.
