Sorry but the talking to the Cardo feature is an epic fail. I cannot get it to work when on the bike and moving. At home where it’s quiet it works fine. As a basic helmet comms unit it does the job. Sound is OK but no better than my Sena 10S. In fact the Sena works better when receiving a phone call. Just have to yell or blow hard into the mic for it to answer. The Cardo doesn’t respond to any voice commands. Presumably it works when pressing the button but I can never remember which one to press. That bit is on me, though. FM radio is next to useless. But so to is the Sena’s radio. So it’s not used. Rather, I stream from my iPhone. Should have bought the mesh unit. Needed it on the weekend. But mine was the only one which didn’t have it so I couldn’t communicate with other riders.

I think that voice command should be more tolerant of a bad accent or pronunciation. I'm not native speaker and i have problem with commands. But still thank you for the tutorial, its great.

My experience, and maybe it is useful for someone else. I have two Freecom4+ devices and each of them had phone paired. One with iPhone, other with Android phone, when using wee had a lot of crackling when connected to each other. When just single unit and listening to music - no problem. Played around with settings, latest firmware, installation etc. but to no avail. Fought with this problem for one full season. Did a factory reset and did not pair phones - crackling disappeared. Now everything is ok. So it seems that "connect everything" is not a good idea with Freecom 4+ devices.

In the tutorial for adding the 4th rider he is actually using the 2nd rider (Freecom4+) as an intermediary, not the 3rd rider (Freecom2+) as he is saying. It is important, because Freecom 2+ cannot connect to more than one rider as it only has 1 communication channel. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My older Goldwing had the wire connected from helmets to the bike. With that I could talk to passenger and also listed to music. When speaking the music would automatically lower then return to normal volume when chatting ended. Easy. This Cardo freecom 4+ will do one or the other I can chat with the passenger only or we can hear music only. That sucks. What I would like to do is hear my passenger as we have shared music. Forget about the useless instructions sheet that was included No one could read the small print. If anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated. Spent hours unsuccessfully attempting to link the intercom rider A to B with shared music. Not at all user friendly. Save your money keep the old school wire.

I've been using this freecom 4+ for 6 months now and I'm super happy with it, the phone quality is top notch. People sometimes don't believe me that I'm driving on the highway because the wind noise has been filtered out.

I think the voice command is either completely sh*te or something is very wrong. English and south so very clear speech but it doesn’t pick up any commands for Cardo! Siri commands work but Cardo commands haven’t worked once. Checked the app settings and which are correct, unit is up to date and still it doesn’t work. 🤷🏼♂️ not a great impression for my first Cardo purchase.

It’s now been 4-5 years and Cardo has STILL yet to release firmware allowing you to have your directions running live while talking to other riders! This is a MUCH NEEDED safety feature that has been ignored but why??? Where is this update and why wasn’t it a feature from day 1?

Nice informative video but all the interstitial ads for the product/company I'm ALREADY WATCHING gave me such a headache. The flashing lights hurt my eyes. I'm watching your video already, slamming that "Waaah aaaahhh ahhhhh" in between every action is torture. And it actually turned me off of buying this product.

I ride two different bikes. One has a built-in Bluetooth system (Goldwing) the other does not and I just use my phone for that one. The issue is that I have to "forget" My Bluetooth connection with the Freecom 4 on my phone when I ride the Goldwing...otherwise, it won't connect and vice versa when I ride the Yamaha I have to re-add the unit to my cell phone. This is annoying and I wonder if there is a plan to allow multiple profiles on the Freecom 4 and Freecom 2 as my wife has that one? Cheers!! Michael

Hi, Our systems are calibrated to work in a noisy environment, so when checking them inside a room, you'll have to speak much more softly. You can also adjust the microphone sensitivity levels in the Cardo Connect app. We hope this helps, Cardo team

We have tried 6 units, yes 2 each among the 3 of us of the Cardo freecom + and are extremely disappointed, between terrible voice commands, to ridiculous specific voice command requests, to bad intercon call quality even though we were all 3 within 300m of eachother. The volume on max is no where near as loud as it should be, they should be expecting people to wear earplugs. Will say wind noise cancelation is good. The usability of the interface is also pathetic for a $225 unit.

Just bought the dual pack Freecom 4x. Very disappointed to find out there is no charger block provided!!! only cable. Paid 500 US dollars after taxes. At that price point I would expect a charger block. Using the wrong voltage to charge the units can and will damage the units. Not every charger block or usb port has the same voltage output.

They should need to release some update that give as option to get the sound profiles with the 45 mm jbl speakers on the cardo unit freecom 4+ That come with 40 mm jbl speakers and give one option for the standard jbl profile , and you can’t change it even if you buy the 45 mm jbl speakers you can’t active then and get the all the jbl profiles Cardo please help it’s not real that we can not active all the jbl profiles with 45 mm speakers just because we buy the freecom4+ unit if you buy the freecom 1 that half the price of the freecom4+ You can active the jbl 45 speakers and open all the sound profile How that can be true ??

So far I hate/don't care for my bold talk cardo. My wife and I ride s x s in West Virginia . It doesn't work there. Between the noise of the machine and constant beeping and finally the battery going dead. Total waste of money.

This is our 3rd upgrade using the Cardo products. We just upgraded to the Freecom4+ because our granddaughter will start riding with Grandpa this weekend. Installation was pretty easy, and pairing all 3 devices (Grandma has to be connected too, and rides her own bike!) was relatively simple. Strongly recommend!!

The voice commands don't work at all for my Australian accent, but does what you tell it to do on the TV from 2m away. When listening to music via my new garmin zumo xt the music constantly skip. Is there a remady for this. The shop here in Australia refuse to let me send it back for a refund so I'm stuck with a 420 dollar paperweight

I have to considerably raise my voice when saying a command after the Hey Siri. I have both the microphone and overall sensitivities set to maximum. Maybe due to this high sensitivity level I am getting random behaviour, with the unit saying the battery is full, or redialing, without actually saying nothing. Any suggestions? Anyone with these problems?

If someone can help me I'd appreciate it. My opinion is totally different from others. Nothing but problems of not working or unresponsive, unable to connect etc... I am totally frustrated with the unit. The unit is totally inconsistent responding to my voice, sometimes and then not at all. On my latest motorcycle ride, after trying unsuccessfully to connect with my friends, non-Cardo unit, my unit stopped responding to my voice at all. When I stopped later I tried to get the radio to work through my phone, then it worked, then stopped once I started the motorcycle. Never was able to connect with other rider, music did this a couple of times then I gave up. Oh, and then the battery went flat, but I had only used it twice for about 4 hours since charging. The previous time, I was able to connect with another motorcycle friend, but in between talking there was a hiss like a wind noise that went on and off every 5-10 seconds. So much so that I had to turn the unit down, and told my friend if he needed to talk, to raise his hand. As well, "sometimes" when I turn my head to the left, the unit beeps for some unknown reason? Today I brought the unit inside with the helmet, checked the connections and placement. Reinstalled the updated software. Tried the language from British to American, no difference... Still not responding to voice. Then I did a reset, works sometimes, sometimes not...I've spent too much time fiddling with this unit, about ready to throw it in garbage. Im hoping someone might have a suggestion and can help... Sent an email to Cardo support today....

Just installed the duo pack and installed the firmware upgrade. Works to perfect in this video, in reality it doesn't. Voice commands do not work. Also the velcro pad on the long mic is stronger then the glue, it tares of the glued velcro from the mic.

What is the main difference between CARDO FREECOM 4X and CARDO SCALA RIDER FREECOM 4+ ?

Hi. I bought freecom 4+ but I think the product is very bad. the audio with my croup is pretty bad, always with a lot of noise. if I activate the voice and music function, it is impossible to hear the voice and music. a bad choice. I would like to know if there is any configuration to improve the system. thanks

Just got this unit and with it, the voice control works. People say it doesn't work but you have to say the commands exactly as listed like you can't say Hey, Cardo next song. say Hey cardo, next track. If you want to call people you can set up 4 people for hey cardo but I just use ok google which also works. Also, check your voice control is set to English UK if you aren't from the US. just leaving it here because I went through a lot of trouble to figure this out. Also the volume settings for music and phone, for example, is different so be careful I almost blew out my eardrums when switching from music to my phone.

Hi Foong Kim Seong, Thank you for reaching out. For a flip-up helmet, you should use the Boom microphone supplied with the box, and position it directly in front of your mouth, with the yellow arrow pointing towards your mouth. Cardo team

Pretty bummed. Bought this the other day, installed correctly and Cardo only listens sometimes and only when it's to play music. It doesn't call anyone. I sometimes will hear a beep but it doesn't follow through and call. I do not have an accent and it is updated on firmware. Pretty disappointed. May return.

Hi, Thank you for reaching out. Regarding the voice commands, Can you adjust the microphone sensitivity slider in the Cardo Connect app? if i was in a group with two other riders and they both had the free com 4+ and i just had a third party one, can they still add me into there call

Thanks for this video ! Very helpful. However, I got a question regarding the last point. Pairing with another device from a different brand. As you said, we must click the intercom key for 5 secs and then the mobile phone button. Does this mean that I won't be able to do a call between 2 or 3 cardo units plus the 4th device as a Sena for example? Thank you for you help

It's ok. If you are going to get video & other extras. You have to spend $300.00 or more. For 150.00 you can hear it up to 35 to 40 mph. Full Volume. Take Volume restriction off on your phone & you will be able to hear little bit better. I say if you are going to use them alot & travel with partner ? Spend the $300.00

Really good for phone use but for music is crap…speaker distortion and bad sound through spotify. Last but not least do not expect voice commands working at high speeds. Better buy something cheaper

@@CardoSystemsGlobal I have to admit that your support is excellent.but the system is not as good as advertised.I have placed properly the speakers, I have used a different unit (thanks to my seller) and the problem remains.your unit cannot handle Spotify’s level of music and the speakers are not as good as the trademark “jbl” implies. as for the voice command , no,after a certain point of speed-noise level is useless (and I am using a touring helmet and I have a big windscreen) thank you although for your reply

Hello. As in 27:25. I followed the steps to pair a Freecom 4+ with a BT-S3 and altough I hear the words "paired successfully" we can't hear each other trough the speakers. Are we doing something wrong?
