My 2010 GTS has been pretty darn rock solid reliable. Everything that has gone wrong I was able to pretty easily repair myself with a little wrenching know-how. Bought it used with 53k miles and now has 103k. Since then (5 years) I've replaced the coils and plugs, did the jimi-fix on the cardan shaft bearing, replaced leaking coolant vent line ($36 part) under the intake and did the starter at the same time. Had the coolant tank pop and ordered a new one for $60 and replaced. I drive it from Northern California to LA/San Diego all the time.

Thanks for the update. Mine was totaled due to a drunk driver hitting me. I had a 2005 Cayenne Turbo and I miss it. I can’t afford new so used is completely ok with me. This awesome car saved my life. I was restoring her from two previous owners neglect - I took care of her and she took care of me…

Worth maintaining & fixing if you really like this car. These 955/957s got charm unlike the new Cayennes.

I bought a GTS of these as I had worries of any future Turbo issues (plus the Mrs drives hard, so less performance for her sake . lol). Man oh man, I love it. Put a Racechip Tuner, but struggling to find the paddle tuner. So far, have successfully taken it offroad, and had the ever so fulfilling gob smacked looks.

Thank you for ridding me my fleeting thought of getting a used Cayenne. I've driven a '23 loaner from the dealer once for a few days. It's a very nice SUV.

I have a 2007 GTS which I am probably going to have to trash. I parked it outside for a couple of months last winter, as I had a Mercedes in one garage and my shitmobile (1984 Suzuki SJ410/413 hybrid with a Peugeot 1.4L engine having the rear axle (from a RAV4) replaced. Rain got in due to blocked drains and filled the area under the driver's seat, where the battery is and where all wires lead. The corrosion caused some breaks/shorts/damage and now Porsche won't touch it, apart from replacing the entire wiring loom at an estimated cost of €19,000. I have hopes of one last electrical expert in my local town of Carcassonne, but if he can't fix it it will become scrap. When it was good it was great, though I never loved it the way I have loved other cars, like the 500SEC, 740iL and the Shitmobile, which can go pretty much anywhere less that 1.2 metres deep. Now it's bad it has cost me about €7,000 in trying to get it fixed, and I will probably take a €10k loss on scrapping it. I am now back to Mercedes, and will stay there.

Thanks for this inspired and informative video! Wow, that is a shocking number for the repairs, and doesn't speak well to Porsche build quality. That said, they are awesome cars. I have a 2013 Cayenne S, with you guessed it, a coolant leak. Ended up taking it to a shop where they diagnosed and fixed a leaking thermo housing gasket. Unfortunately it didn't stop there. There is also a head gasket leak, and I have yet to find out what the final price tag will be (discussion is one side or both gasket replacement or just swapping out for a used engine in case of warpage). As I am retired (fixed income) and living in a remote area, I am not sure how much longer I will keep this vehicle. A decision for another day.

Honestly overall I think you made out completely well. A lot of people will look at this and think it's so much money that drive Hondas but you have to understand these cars are so much more advanced so more things can go wrong. To me it's worth it for sure. The first gen Cayenne is the best. Ive owned both a 955 and have a 957 3.6L right now. I have the same 21' GTS rims on and it looks sooo good especially with the black paint and silver window trim. Owned the 3.6L for over 2.5 years and probably spent about 1.5k /year. Done about 44,000k kms in that 2.5 years. Im going to buy a 957 turbo/turbo s when the right one pops up and if I have to spend 3k year on maintenance I would be totally ok with that honestly. Thats not crazy to me. Any less I'll be super happy. There is just something about the first gen that these cayennes have that the new ones dont. The interior/exterior is just so timeless.

I totally agree. By the time I have time for cars again, I bet the 957 will go up in value. I'd love to pick up a pristine 957 Turbo S one day. In the meantime, I'll slowly acquire parts to make mine more like the perfect spec'd one.
@DjJugend4 ай бұрын
@@CarFanatic Your right. Good examples will forsure go up in value. Like you I hope to get a Turbo/Turbo S in excellent shape and low km as soon as I find a nice one here in Canada or figure out how to import it from US to here. That would open up my options a ton. The Turbo S has PDCC standard aswelll as the wheel arches that the GTS has but some Turbos have these options if the original buyer bought the package or the car came equipped with them as an extra. As better as it will make the car handle it's also just another advanced feature that will enviably fail down the road so it's a double edged sword but worth it to the right enthusiast.

I am a day from purchasing an one owner 2009 Cayenne GTS with 68,000 miles. I have been reading and watching 100s of reviews. What I don’t understand is that all the problems people report, including you, reoccur periodically. Aren’t there any aftermarket parts to address all these issues so they don’t happen again? Your feedback is much appreciated. Thnx.

Some of the issues would be considered lemon able in other cars. I don’t get it either. Doing my research between a b58 x5 or x3 and a cayenne

As long as you’re paying for the maintenance, car will last pretty long. Problem is Porsche is not diy friendly and mechanics knows that and charges a lot.

On your first video you mentioned you had aftermarket warranty. What company is it? In the market of buying a cayenne.
@jmichael11576 ай бұрын
I’m in the market for a CPO Cayenne. I’m considering a 2021 Cayenne S or a 2023 Cayenne Base model. The 2023 Cayenne has more warranty than the 2021. Which is the better option in your opinion. This will be my first Porsche. Thank you 🙏🏽

It was through "The Warranty Group". They actually no longer offer coverage to Cayennes lol. I tried to renew and got denied.
