same here. Like Train to Busan it's not one of those action filled zombie movies, where everyone has a gun, ax or something like that and starts mowing down undead people. Instead there is a feeling of helplessness and the fact that the father gets infected pretty early shows how dire the situation is. Seeing him runnig out of options, trying all he could to save his daughter was just devastating.

One of the things that struck me was that, in the first half Andy and Tumi are seeking the same thing. In the case of Andy "modern medicine and science will save my wife" because as someone living in modern society he places his faith in science. Tumi hopes that the Cleverman, representing of the native faith and culture, will save her father. In the end, it's human kindness that they rely on, saving Rosie.

Yeah, I'd genuinely like to know if that was actually just coincidence- or the creator's a fan of Sherlock. But lol, even before I heard her name, all I could think was AU Sherlock. So I gave it some thought, and came up with Sherlock, John and Molly (as a friend only but occupies the mothers role) going to Australia for a case that would naturally be based on The Adventure of the Gloria Scott. But while there, the 'zombie' outbreak traps them in Australia and forces them to hide out longterm on the boat. Then Molly gets bit and as the events of the movie, ends up biting John. Although in this scenario, Sherlock would have to become unreliable in some way that doesn't remove the whole baseline of the plot being John now needs to find someone to look after Rosie before he succumbs to the plague. And I'm loathe to kill him off to accomplish that scenario, so any thoughts? :-)
@nicole_toast
@nicole_toast 5 жыл бұрын
MRPandoraHartDR I think it’d be a really cool twist if instead of Sherlock being there with him as well, he could show up as hallucinations from the bite whenever John feels helpless. And with every hallucination he gets, it gives a the backstory to how Sherlock died and how they ended up in a house boat. Make people go “oh shit” he was never there to begin with!
@MRPandoraHartDR
@MRPandoraHartDR 5 жыл бұрын
Nicole Santos, That's actually a really clever idea and one that changes my mind on Sherlock's survival, plus I think a way to further deceive the audience would have the reality be that Sherlock left the other three on the boat, in order to try and find a way to get an SOS to his brother in London. But after Molly is attacked, we're made to think Sherlock returns to the boat. In reality though, John just imagines his return as a coping method for having to deal with Molly's turning, but after he gets bit he actually starts fully hallucinating him. Also, how about upping the sad and have it that both Molly and John actually die without ever knowing Sherlock's fate, (since he never actually returned to the boat), and only the audience find out he died, via a final scene with Mycroft (some men and a helicopter) standing over the sad remains of his little brother and deducing he got bit before he could return to the boat and rather than turn zombie turned his gun on himself.

@Lunix one, learn proper grammar, you're using the wrong words. Lmbo second wow the bar for being a good dad has been severely dropped. So it takes to get that time is to, by your own definition, fuck up and get you and your wife killed because you refused to listen any other persons ideas other than your own, not even allowing your wife to go out peacefully and all just to end up dead not knowing if he truly saved his daughter the only reason he submitted and listened to the girls idea is because he completely ran out of options and HAD to give in to someone else's idea. That is the epitome of a stubborn headed BAD DAD that if any bad thing would happen on earth he would probably end up getting his family and/or himself killed instead of taking time to put heads together and allowing his wife a chance to make a decision.... Oh wait, that's exactly what happened. So I feel very sorry for you if THIS is your idea of a good dad, cause your dad must suck crap if this is a more appealing choice of dad. Cause getting my mom killed and himself killed to orphan me at age one kinda sounds like he missed the point of being a father. I'm sure you're an absolute downer at parties with talk about your must-haves to make a good dad. xD *your list: #1. A pulse 2. You and mom stay alive and around long enough to make it to at least 6 months for good rank 1 year for great 3or more, best dad ever l. 3 get mom killed and still continue to ignore her while she's dying.* Holy Crap the TRIFECTA! Now, if you'd rephrase that as in "let's preserve the conditions that made life possible" that would be something else. Fun fact: a part of global warming (and cooling) is due to nature. Another fun fact: Humans produce only a tiny amount of co2, but since we're tipping the scale it accumulates just like the US debt. The planet slowly adapted in the last million years. More co2 allows for more greenery and it also goes the other way around. we're moving too fast for the planet.

This movie's ending reminds me of an indie film I saw about a dad who was trying to lead his baby to safety. He did the exact same thing towards the end, hanging his baby to his back and suspending meat in front of himself with a stick. Uh... you guys realize that the Northern Territories have the highest rate of child abuse anywhere in Australia, right? As in, children are more likely to be raped and abused in Indigenous Australian communities than anywhere else. www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-22/indigenous-groups-urge-government-to-address-tennant-creek-abuse/9473002 www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/mar/09/child-protection-report-reveals-soaring-number-of-investigations www.katherinetimes.com.au/story/5276074/child-protection-demand-grows/ I mean, I'm sorry to be the one to put a dampener on this movie's ending but statistically speaking, odds are good that little white baby is in for a seriously fucked up life.

+Daeven Ville You can call me racist all you want but I'm telling you unequivocally that we have a serious problem with child abuse in Indigenous Australian communities here in Australia (and that's to say nothing of the epidemics of substance abuse, domestic violence, incest, and worse in these communities). Nobody wants to talk about it and films like this try to act like it doesn't exist for the sake of portraying Indigenous Australians as 'noble savages'. Well, no, the problem does exist and this ending is just downright unrealistic because of it, sorry. Edit: Just try and walk into a serious Indigenous community as a white person who isn't wearing a police uniform and see how it goes. You'll find out all too quickly how 'noble' these people really are.

Edward Carnby but take into account what’s going on in the movie. It’s not the same world we live in. In this world their are more worried about survival than anything else so that could cause a change in the abuse you were talking about.

It ends with the infected guy becoming a zombie, but he hangs a bag of meat in front of him like a carrot with a mule and distracting him from the baby on his back. Survivors eventually find and kill the zombie, but find the baby alive on his back. Does anyone else remember this short or am I making it up?

I knew exactly how things were going to end, but that still did not stop me from full on sobbing at the end of the film as Andy turned. Cargo is honestly such a beautiful movie. I liked the short better. A longer version with so much added in took a lot from the punch that the short has.

chrissysky01 OMG, that's so true. When the short came out I showed it to my students in writing class. It was so profound and perfect for a father's day themed composition. My students were the ones that told me about this movie remake, they said it wasn't as impressive. So I guess they were right
