Hey Russ can make yourself a T-brace out of 2x4's to help hold the roof panels, its like having a second pair of hands like a drywall jack.

Coming along very nicely. The temp is almost dangerous to be out in it too long. Need a portable ice cube maker to pop in the red cooler 😉

You can try using a 2x4 to wedge & hold up one side of the ceiling panel while you secure the other. I did this for hanging drywall.

Greetings and thanks for the video. Where did you get the thin strips of replacement trim? How did you re-attach the trim...narrow crown staples or regular upholstery staples or nails?
@RogerSayers5 жыл бұрын
Good video Russ... I have some questions for you. When you insulated the roof, How'd you do it? Did you use an adhesive of some kind? How flexible are those insulating panels? And what is the thickness and R Rating of the panels? I'm working on my 8 x 24 Interstate LoadRunner Cargo Trailer trying to get it ready for some boondocking trips. I've already installed my solar. 300Watts. Two D150 Renogy Monocrystalline Panels, Renogy Rover 40 amp charge controller, Renogy 500 Watt Sinewave inverter. My battery bank is a simple 12 volt set up consisting of two 6 Volt Trojan T-105 RE (smart carbon) In series. So I'm pretty much set up there as for the solar. Tho I'm sure as I move forward with my build, I may be relocating the battery bank. Anyway, when ya have time please let me know how you did the insulation in the roof. Take care and safe travels always. By the way, Thumbs UP on all of your videos.

hi . i didnt glue the foam only wedged it inand then used the wood for support... i wish i would have had it done at factory when i ordered it... spray foam is the best... good luck with your build... thanks Russ

@@rvertv Thanks Russ... Yep I've seen videos of people using the spray on insulation. I think that would great but the cost might be outta my price range and I don't have the equipment that it would take to spray it on. Anyway, thanks again and safe travels out there...

Russ, it will be interesting to see the weight of the silver shoe box with all your custom work. Dang, you're good at setting things up the way you want. Last mechanic I had told me to stay away from those heat shrink wiring connectors as they come apart due to all the constant moving rv's do. Was Scooby this laid back even as a younger dog?

I insulated the walls and ceiling on my 6x12 cargo trailer and in my case I pulled all the interior panels and trim to do it. That is a huge amount of work doing it solo. I discovered some very shoddy trailer wiring from the factory so I tidied that up, installed windows and vents, and then installed the foam boards and replaced all the panels and trim...and yes, the trim pieces are a mess. It looks like it worked out in your case but I havent seen the reason you went from a nice class A to this self-build project. I really like your good-ol-boy style of video...

hi tx... i still have my class A ......i use my trailer for work project.... i travel in it for short trips, i regret not having mine insulated when i ordered it .....thanks

Just found your channel. I've heard a few RVer's talk about you. I binged out on your videos this weekend. Just thought you should check out The Paddy Wagon's channel. He interviewed an old timer that has traveled all over in a cargo trailer. He had a cool concept for the rear door area. It's sort of a utility room and the added wall he installed a window & a/c unit. I thought it was a cool idea. He gets more light & a/c. Back to binging! I'm almost caught up & I've subscribed.
