I regret that general recommendations always come in comparison with petrol cars. Plug-in hybrid technology has nothing to do with petrol. Therefore it is a pity these are always been put into balance whereas they serve two completely different purposes. This is definitely a better car for tomorrow's issues, in terms of sustainability and economy, no matter what current petrol vehicles do provide in terms of leisure and "convenience". Oil lobby groups only keep saying this is not the right alternative.

Lovely colour and cabin interior details. I love the electric idea but yes it does alter its practicality as a compact suv with having to store the extra baggage. Great SUV that is not long but still holds the road really well. 🧡
@VictoryHand3 жыл бұрын
Love the styling of that new cabin. My wife has the previous capture petrol and it looks much the same tho everywhere else. I'd like to see them do a full electric version with a 300mile range battery.
@stephendoherty82912 жыл бұрын
Not alot of space to have a big enough battery for 300miles unless it had been designed specifically to be a BEV and with such a small footprint that would be tough. With the battery allowing for most daily local trips and a faster recharge time (think shopping centre recharge) then the small petrol engine would rarely be used. Not sure there are many pure EVs in this class (or anywhere near this price)

How does this Captur plugin hybrid compare with non-plugin hybrid from Renault Arkana? Regarding how much petrol consumption per 100km?
@RichardNash1003 жыл бұрын
@CarGurusUK what's the battery only range in miles of this car? any details of the electric motor? you said in the review the suspension is not great. what is the rear suspension type? what size/capacity is the petrol engine? what is the petrol tank size? and therefore what is the maximum petrol driven range of this car? How long and how to charge the batteries? is there longer warranty on the battery and electric motor? I feel that a lot of important things are missing from your review.
@benjimc13 жыл бұрын
she answered the majority of questions you listed. battery takes 3hrs to charge, rated for 30 miles but real world 20 miles on a cold day.
@corentinoger3 жыл бұрын
Plugin version has a 39 liters fuel tank (Vs 48L for the petrol and non plug-in hybrid) . This will give you a little over 400 miles of petrol-only range. Starting with full battery+full tank, you should be able to travel 450 miles, which is 3x more than a similarly-priced electric car.

On the basis that I can get up to 65mpg from my 1st-gen Captur dCi, where is the benefit of the PHEV version of the current model? It would take for ever to pay back the inflated purchase price
@corentinoger3 жыл бұрын
PHEV fuel economy heavily depends on use case, especially commuting distance and whether you can charge at work. Many owners hardly ever start the petrol engine. On the other hand, when driving long distances on the motorway, the hybrid system is essentially dead weight.

If you do lots of short trips, had only one child (and all their "travel" gear) and your fuel costs were a noticeable burden, this might work. Also if you could not charge overnight and a 1-2hr public charge was more possible. Most of these PHEVs have such short EV mileage (20 here) as there batteries are too small for a decent EV range and the added weight of the engine- fuel tank-battery-electric engine and plugin adapter all make for a heavy car and this car is small, so suffers more.

If they put the cable under the floor, how can you charge it on the go with the boot full of stuff?
@terryhunter7223 жыл бұрын
You don't need the charge cable at public charge points and as it isn't a rapid charge car, you probably wouldn't bother topping up on a longer journey anyway.

Never mind the car the best bit of her videos is to guess when she mentions that she is 5ft 4 and a half ins. 2 mins 27 into this video a bit sooner than usual as she did the back first. Perhaps she can arrange a competition we can take part in to guess the time when she mentions her height and encourage more viewers to the channel. Keep up the good work.

I think the price difference between the regular and hybrid versions makes this car completely impractical. It's getting dangerously close to BMW X1 territory.
@beatonthedonis3 жыл бұрын
If you commute 50 miles a day and can plug in at work, you're saving a lot on fuel (don't know how many years it would take to make up the difference).

Still bellow and honestly what more the BMW offer than the badge? Faster in this price range acceleration by 1 sec?Way more expensive maintenance cost? And the depreciation for BMW models is even worst compare to renault especially in the last decade or two.

For that price, better off going full EV. Don't see why anyone would go for this car, can't just buy it for looks and nice interior. We have a captur at half that price. 15k more for 20 miles of electric... pass on that one.

Depending on your commuting distance and whether you can charge at work, you can use it as an electric car daily, but you have 3x the range when going on holiday.

£31,000 - a joke. I can understand why someone who mixes city and main road driving would be interested in a self-charging hybrid - but I fail to see the appeal of plug-in models like this - you have to visit both garages and charging points (frequently!) - why bother? - just buy a self-charging model - two of my friends have self-charging (Toyotas) and they run on electric power most of the time in the city. Mind you - if Rebecca came with it......
@unenthusiast3 жыл бұрын
They’re suited to people who can charge at home and then make the most of a daily electric range. Bonus if they can charge at work to double it!
@superduperawesome68583 жыл бұрын
Totally agree and I would have concerns on what the depreciation would be on any of the French cars especially. The only thing at the back of my mind is how long will it be before cities and large towns bring in congestion charges (by 2030?)🤔👍
