Positivity. This video more than any made me want a extra vote from a staffer judge or something. Dude came last because his lowest vote was a 9, not cause he cooked the worst dish. Doubling the others' rating, he would have lost to Camisha 13-12.5

I feel like camisha was intimidated by Bethany’s dish which is why she gave her a 5 and gave them garlicky a$$ plantains a 7 🤣. And she said she gave Bethany’s dish a 5 because it’s not what she’s used to, but if they’re all repping different places they shouldn’t expect something their used to and definitely shouldn’t judge based on which is more familiar . Definitely needed a 4th opinion for a more fair score for everyone

Bethany’s dish was probably a little dry, I figure…since the guy said it reminded him of patacón. Camisha also said she wasn’t a fan of salty plantain in general so she also rated based on preference. The reason Bethany rated Camisha’s plantains a 6.5 was also a preference because she didn’t like sweet plantains. I guess preference is really what it came down to.

platano verde and platano maduro have 2 completely different flavor profiles, i totally agree. they both change/add to the main dish (assuming you're eating it as a side) in different ways. platano verde for me is more for the crispy texture (i normally eat w Dominican spaghetti). and platano maduro is more for the taste and those burnt edges (these i normally eat w any rice, locrio, moro, or even just plain white rice). platano maduro is the only one im willing to eat as a main dish. platano verde dries my mouth out, it's like eating bread w nothing lol it pains me a little to see the two being categorized the same way ngl 😭

When Bethany said “I don’t know how people could mess up plantains” Camisha’s plate is cut perfectly & fried perfectly .. in El Salvador we use ripe plantains ( yellow ) we cut it the same way which is basically cutting the plátano in half & then cutting sideways to get those rectangular pieces then we eat it with this sauce called crema & it’s a popular dish eaten for any time of the day .. ripe plantains ready to cook & eat are in their yellow color which is more sweet as Jeremiah stated probably what reminded him of platacon was it’s consistency & the crunch of it because of how she fried it .... i believe she did great 😊 Meanwhile in the Dominican Republic tostones or patacón is made from green plantains majority of the time with salt added once they’re done cooking & it’s super delicious .. when plantains are green they are in their less ripe stage, tend to be less sweeter & also a bit harder in texture while a ripe yellow plantain is usually softer in texture & much more sweeter … And of course Jeremiah added his own pizazz because thats what he probably grew up on or it’s just his own savory personal preference … but hey guess what I love both & eat both everyday big shoutout to Jeremiah as well for going hard ! 🇸🇻💙🇩🇴❤️😈👊

As a Jamaican, I have never seen plantains made like that. We make them like how the Dominican and the Trini made them. Just ripe plantain and a bit of salt, fry it and done.

Production requested I do cups specifically because they saw it off of my Instagram + thought it was cool + just to have a variety, so it wouldn’t be the same thing as the other contestants. I’m a Vegan chef and it’s just a unique way to switch things up that may not be “traditional” to others. I was representing Jamaica🤷🏾‍♀️

@@b.m7640 I get what you're saying. I didn't mean it disrespectfully. You have great skills! I just meant it to say when representing something it in many instances is almost synonymous with what majority of the people do. So let's say the curry competition Most Trinidadians might cook their cook their curry the same way or it is said Nah this is missing or that is missing. When I saw the cup I thought I have never seen it done like this before but persons may think this is how most Jamaicans fry their plantains. I thought it was very creative though but see the girl with the regular sweet plantain won.

Jeremiah was the only honest reviewer here. The other females were not honest. Making things up like “it’s cold” or “because it’s not how I do it I’m going to rate it a medium score in hopes that my plate wins” like both of them females need to stop reviewing food.

Bring him back he’s real and flexible to the tastes profiles of other cultures. When he graded the sweet showed his love of food giving exclaiming now this is traditional to… Love him.
