You sitting there enjoying those views while eating breakfast takes me back Shug. Been following you for years now and I would have never guessed how much I would treasure your videos now. I used to live in the Yoop while going to college and enjoyed similar mornings myself. Now I find myself in the marines waking up in a foreign country dreaming of the day I can wake in the piney woods once more. Cheers Shug!

+ONTERRAFIRMA I'll keep sector seven secure for ya'.......Thankee. I spent 3 good hard days at Camp LeJuene when I was a boy scout. Our scoutleader was a former Marine. Yes....I have been stuffed in a locker for hours. Staring at that red light in the barracks through the locker slits. Good times. It was the early 70's. Stay vigilant and a huge thankee to you and the Corps from Shug of the Third Person.

About 4-5 years ago my wife, dog and I attempted this trail. It's the first (and hopefully last) time that I ever bonked on a hike. Sugar crash, I had the shakes and we had to turn around, somewhere before Stairway Falls. We ate a good breakfast, had plenty of snacks and water, but something went wrong with me. Anyway, I don't feel as bad thanks to you mentioning several times how difficult this trail is. We're going to do it again this year and dammit, we're gonna make it all the way this time! Thanks for the awesome video.

You have way too much fun, and it's a privilege living vicariously thru your trips. Many hundreds of $ on equipment, and no time to use it. Also, the taste of camp food is awesome even when sitting out at the lake. Thanks, Shug!

I just can't get enough of that view, what a perfect place to camp/sleep. I recently had a trip where I was in the same boat, the trail ended up being much harder and longer than I was led to believe. Lots of blow downs, washouts, etc made for a lot of extra walking. I was so glad to setup camp and hit the hammock, as I bet you were here :).

@briannelson10579 жыл бұрын
I've day-hiked to Rose Lake 3 times (Yes, you read that right, I'm a little looney) and canoed in a few more. The CRT, I think, is the toughest trail in Minnesota. The SHT and BRT soar to greater heights, but neither grinds the body down like the CRT. But the rewards are worth it: heading west to the W. Rose Lake cliffs and the sights of Rat Lake and South Lake. And, now you have the option of taking a loop trail and not doing an in-and-out. The BRT Association just finished as of May 2015 a loop connecting the CRT, BRT, South Lake Trail, and the newly constructed Moss Lake Trail. It's a total of 13 Miles. I'm hoping to check it out in a few weeks. Thanks for the videos, Shug. I've learned much and enjoyed them over and over again.

Are you sure your in Minnesota? Sure looks like a Pennsylvania trail to me. We got lots of rocks, roots, and lots of blow-downs too. Many places I hike you're likely to get 1000+ foot elevation gains in as little as a mile. I usually do 13 to 20 miles a day on trails like that. :-) This is my first year using a hammock and I'll never go back to a tent unless I absolutely have to. I have gotten Pocari Sweat in Japan out of a street vending machine. always in a bottle though. Never seen the powder. works wonders if you had too much... uh... fun, the night before.
