i once had a rottie, a husky, and a malamute at the same time. it rained and unknown to me they had a helluva time making their very own mudhole . all 3 came inside (doggy door) and jumped in the middle of my bed, so so proud of their new clothes. ruined an expensive bedding set. did i yell, get angry? hell no, lifes too short. the neighbors were peeking out the blinds at crazy dog lady . i jumped in that big mudhole with them and we had the muddiest, splashiest, time of our lives. we should do the things they love sometimes. its good for your spirit and soul. RIP my babies, i miss all 3 of u like crazy.

You are so right about missing the things that may drive you crazy about your dog. I had to put my dog to sleep due to cancer a couple of weeks ago. He used to want to go outside then he’d come in for a short time, then want back out again. And he’d always want to go out when I was just getting settled onto the couch. It drove me nuts but I would give anything to have him back. I would gladly let him out a million times over because I miss him so much.

@@Leeasher330 I am originally from Brooklyn New York. I’ve lived in Florida since 1976. I have rescued horses goats pigs, parrots cats dogs where I live now I can only do dogs however I have four rescues each with a different story but I understand how your heart leaps be joy with every rescue because mine does the same and my heart leaps for joy when I read and listen to your videos, you restore my faith in the world and in people. you help me stay focused on the good so why will attract more of it. All of my dogs are getting older the old blind one is 14 or 15 years old as Only Chi slept for a week when I first got him. He was very very neglected, but now, he prances when he wakes up in the morning. Teddy cause cuddles is about tenish and jazzy. Joy is 11 and then there a spunky who is about a 14-year-old Yorkie very bossy was attacking everybody because he was so abused but now he is mostly a love. I am a transformative coach mostly retarded, but I still work with people who choose to contact me and I connect with. I’m not sure who’s the alpha of the pack. I used to have four Rottweilers Pasha was the love of my life. Before Covid I volunteered training dogs at a rescue. I strictly believe in energy and are used to do some animal communication. I hope I outlast my dog because I don’t know where they would go if it were for me as painful as that sounds Alternative is worse so much love and light sent to you every time I watch one of your videos. You are my hero..

I had a friend who told me not to sweat the small stuff. Her animals were a major comfort to her as she was dealing with cancer, even when they would make a mess. She lived many years after her diagnosis, even though the doctors had only given her a few months to live. She passed away a few years ago. I took my friend's advice, and it helps to relieve a lot of stress when you don't sweat the small stuff. Two things I miss most about my dog Taffy is her singing with me whenever I would sing You are My Sunshine (she wouldn't sing any other song) and her coming running whenever someone said or spelled ice cream. You could spell other words and she ignored you. She loved ice cream.

This video really brought me back to our sweet Rottweiler Landa. She was a total wreck most days. We called her our Marley dog. She loved getting muddy, getting in the windows to watch and guard her pack(countless window blinds replaced), and sometimes counter surfing. One of her quirks was knowing when I would get potatoes out to bake and bark like mad over aluminum foil. I still smile when I get in the drawer where I keep it. That crazy bark will live in my head and heart forever. Her other quirk was flashlights. Somehow she would find them and carry them around. Thank you for reminding me of those memories 🐾❤️

He had been extremely abused and neglected, and I was told to just put him down. I refused! I fought for him and I fought alongside him. It was a long 6 months!!! People laughed at me when I taught my dog certain body parts, his and mine. They said, Cynthia, he’s just a dog. I enjoy teaching him things. He loves it. If he doesn’t want to do the body parts game, he turns his head which tells me he’s not in the mood. We spend all of our time together. Anyway, I say”Jackie’s eye, mommy’s eye, Jackie’s nose, mommy’s nose etc. If I ask him my body parts, he licks or touches with his nose and there is no prompting. Well, sadly he can’t do it anymore because he is totally blind. When I go to touch him, he’s very startled. So, I tell him, Jackie’s head or ears or tail or nose, whatever before I touch him there and he’s not startled. All my training was not in vain. Sad that I have to use it this way, but also glad. Thank you for all the wonderful things you do for all these beloved dogs and other animals.

Asher House with Lee, what more could these wonderful sentient beings want from life? They really are the lucky ones & Lee saves so so many. There are thousands not so lucky. Lee proves that all these rescues are great dogs with time & patience a rescue dog becomes a brilliant asset to your life, so always rescue, please. I have 3 rescues, always rescued all my life, as with humans ,they all have different personalities, different foiballs. Of course they can drive you to distraction. 2 of my dogs are now on medication, 1 for Cushings, 1 for a heart murmur which he takes a diuretic for, so the pair of them are in & out all the time, it can be frustrating but I would rather have that than not have the dogs anymore, that time will come soon enough. So as Lee says if you look you can find the simplest solutions. Now Summer is coming here in England I can leave the door open for mine to come & go, that's my Sumner solution, Winter I just have to keep getting my butt out the chair 😄 my Winter solution, not so great but no sweat, my babies are with me & we can love eachother until the time comes when they're gone, I will miss everything, so this is a small thing to have to put up with for the joy they give me. Lee exudes calm, love & caring & the dogs feel that, feed off it & stay chilled relaxed & happy. Fabulous life for all. Love that your vision has come to fruition Lee such a great American animal lover. May you long continue ❤

We had the sweetest golden retriever who had lots of quirks. Walks always started with us clicking the lead on, then letting go. After several minutes of folding and refolding his lead, he was ready to go. But we had to hold his collar, not the lead, for the first few minutes as he carried his perfectly folded lead. His recall was atrocious. He wouldn't lie down when instructed, he would roll over for belly rubs. The sit command had to be given with a hand gesture otherwise he would lie down 🤭, but he would "finish" which also had a hand gesture, with a flick of the hand he would walk around me and then sit at my side looking up 🥰. I miss my boy and his stubborn disregard for his training 😢🥰

Raising three children (who are now young adults) has taught me to choose my battles. Before reacting or responding to something one of our children did, my husband and I would talk about it and say, “Is this the hill I want to die on?” And of course most things were not. We try to have the philosophy that if you only ask for a few things, as parents, you really deserve to get those things. Fortunately for us, our children agreed that was fair. And it applies to other relationships, including pets as you pointed out.

Yes, Lee, that is a good way to live life! Pick your battles! Is it a big issue or a quirk? ❤ 100% AGREE! I have a dog who has an old stuffed animal. She loves that stuffed animal. I have washed it so many times that I am afraid to wash it again b/c it'll fall apart more than it has already. I've bought her new ones. I have thrown it out and she mopes missing that stuffed animal. It may stink but it's something she loves. Why fight over a stuffed toy and make her life harder when it brings her joy?! ❤😊 I try to live my life like that! Don't ruin someone else's joy just because it bugged me! Our babies mean everything to us. Their quirks make them who they are! It's okay! Joy is important in our home!!

My eldest son is 25 and he still has his orginial Pooh Bear. Pooh has been through several surgeries. Sometimes I see videos showing a dog that has a favorite toy. Instead of leaving well enough a lone; the owners will go out and buy 50 of the same toy. I think that is weird.

Regarding the question from a viewer today 4-1-2024 about their dog taking their water bowl outside spilling a little water(!!🙄). People like that, so petty, should not have a precious pet. Today my Freyja got me soaking wet. We went to the dog wash and I did Diana and Freyja was supposed to get groomed. But they were short staffed and when I was done with Diana, Freyja was still in the crate barking and not happy. So I said I'll do her myself. Whenever I stopped rubbing her she would shake. Every time I put the hose down and got more shampoo or whatever, shake. I ended up drenched. But it is part of dog ownership. Could I train her not to shake? Probably. But why? I think every time you train a dog out of something they do they lose a little part of themselves. When I walk them I let them sniff and I stop if necessary. A well-trained dog that is "perfect" is less of a dog and more of a trophy for the owner. I want my dogs to be dogs, even if I end up soaked to the skin.

I recommend doing what Lee said about setting up a bigger, bulkier water bowl but I would add in putting down a decoy bowl that still allows the dog to take it outside but just don't put any water in it. Bring it back in when the dog is done and then start over the next day.

Lee is so right here. We have a larger beagle, and he would always climb on the back of my couch and lay by our picture window. He especially loved barking at our mail lady. It used to really irratate me that I had dog hair all over my couch and dog snot all over my window that I always had to clean. He is now 14 yrs old and is deaf. We encourage him to go on our couch to see our mail lady because he can no longer hear her on our porch. Yesterday, he couldn't climb up on our couch, so my husband lifted him up there, and I cried. Im so ashamed of myself for worrying about a damn couch. I can replace a piece of furniture, I can never replace my beloved Tucker. I'd give anything to see our Tucker jump up there so easily like he used to. 💔

I love watching them on their walks. The way Lee talks to them makes me feel less crazy because I talk to my girl like she’s my baby girl and my bestie. It breaks my heart that people pick the dumbest hills to die on. Did they expect a pup that never gets dirty, plays hard, loves to snuggle, etc. I just broke it off with a guy after he was rough with my dog. He tried to say that it was a part of she has to have a lot of snuggle dog. It know it takes time to get a new dog socialized to everyone’s, but Damien would run by because they are incompetent
