Great review. I have 2 Redcat Gen7's with portal upgrades and some other more frivolous accessories. Been looking at options for a 3rd Crawler. Been kinda hooked on the portal modded Gen7's due to the price point, but after finding your review on the Coyote a lot of my reservations have been cleared. Been tipping between one of these Coyotes and a lightly modified Sendero...your review is tipping the scales some, lol. Subscription added.

I have the same Carisma chassis with the 86 Suburu Brat shell. The tie-rod that you pointed out that is made of plastic was the first thing that broke on mine when it hit a jagged rock. Carisma sells an aluminum replacement for about $12.00 US. That’s what I replaced it with.

It’s a great crawler it really is. Surprisingly out performed most TRX4s and SCX10s too, and having all three and a few other brands, it’s genuinely the most capable out of the box for climbing, and if you get the Range Rover version, by far the best value for money currently available.

I’m off to Newquay in the morning for a few days and out of my TRX4, SCX10.2, Komodo and RC4WD G2 I’m actually taking the Coyote. It has that care free appeal which should make beach fun that much better. Hope you enjoy your new crawler buddy, you’ll love it 🤟🏻👍🏻

Hi Experience RC, currently trying to find an RTR for my 7 years old's Christmas present (and one for me!) - looking at the Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E Lynx RTR which is £199. I'm guessing you've replaced all the bushings etc with bearings along the build, also the wheels. Will the RTR still be capable?
@ExperienceRC5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Williams Hey Daniel. The Coyote is a great truck and is extremely capable. The only bearings I changed were a few in the transmission housing, but I only did that as I had a few left over in my parts box, I decided to leave the bushes in the axles as I’m in the UK so it’s wet a lot, so I thought I’d try and see how it reduces maintenance and so far I haven’t really noticed any negatives of using the bushes, yes they have more friction than bearings but my cheap RC4WD 35T motor seems to cope with it perfectly fine with no issues. I don’t know the wheelbase of the Lynx but I know the body is higher so centre of gravity will be a little higher but I don’t see it anything to worry about. I hate plastic wheels as they simply aren’t heavy enough to assist with steep climbing, so I would recommend at some point getting some metal beadlocks (I get all mine from AsiaTees) and that’s all I would do. It’s a great chassis and I have no doubt that you and your little one will have tonnes of fun with. Whichever decision you make I hope you have loads of fun 🤟🏻✌🏻

@@ExperienceRC Thanks for the reply. Really helpful! Yea i'm in the UK too Suffolk based, so that makes sense regarding bushings. Im trying to decide with the Lynx at £199 or the Coyote body for £20 more! I prefer the Coyote but I could put that towards new wheels! Hummmmm.... Thanks again!

@@ExperienceRC quick question - from your experience, should I get the £199 Lynx SCA-1E or a Element RC Enduro Sendero which Ive found for £271 on Black Friday deal.. My budget is properly stretched at this though. Thanks your help is appreciated!
@ExperienceRC5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Williams personally I wouldn’t buy two Lynx, just because it’s two of them, unless they give you more discount (just ask them, you never know). I would go with one Lynx and the Element as it’s something different, and has the overdrive options on the transmission. I’ve been checking out the Element and it seems to be a great truck from what I’ve seen. What I’ve learnt in this hobby is that what you don’t buy now, you will certainly buy later lol. May I ask where you’ve seen the Black Friday offer, as I haven’t seen it that cheap and I’m trying to decide on my own Christmas present from my fiancée lol.

Hi Matt, great info. I had an FTX Kanyon for a week after 10yrs away from RC. Now looking at other trucks, buggies, drift cars already to build up a new collection. Did fancy a used Axial Wraith rock racer or something with more metal based durable parts. What's your thoughts on this Carisma compared to the used Axial stuff? Is there anything better under £350 new or used better than this...or, have you got a top 3 of choice? I just started a man made garden course, and only using the truck for fun not competition, but want something half decent. I know what you mean about geometry being a mountain biker for many years...thoughts please? All the best, Simon. (is this the same chassis thaty the Range Rover fits also)
@ExperienceRC4 жыл бұрын
Simon Kear hey Simon. Overall it’s a great truck, and I think the geometry is probably one of the best I’ve used (I have the TRX4 Bronco, Axial SCX10.2, GMade Komodo GS01 and the RC4WD Gelande 2). What I would advise however, is that the Coyote sits quite low, so the diff houses can catch, having said that, they side over things well, and a bit of wheel speed can help overcome some issues with getting caught up. I believe the kits are all the same with a small few differences, mainly in chassis rail and link lengths. If I may however, I would advise looking at either the TRX4 Sport (it just doesn’t have the two speed gearbox and unlocking diffs, which is less to go wrong) or take a look at the new SCX10.3. Both of these trucks are more premium are are within your budget, and are more upgradable and modification friendly, simply as there’s a world of options across both. If you get a kit, factor in some metal beadlocks as it will transform any truck you buy, regardless of the initial price of the truck. Both the TRX4 and Axial SCX10.3 have portal axles too, which will help you climb over less natural obstacles if you’re making a crawler course in your garden. Whichever truck you buy, it will be great. If you can spend more for the premium models, you will have a better experience in the long run. I hope this helps.

@@ExperienceRC Hi, budget change, so looking around, these have taken my interest as a used vehicle, what's your thoughts ? scx10 vs Gmade R1, GOM, GS2 BOM
@ExperienceRC4 жыл бұрын
Simon Kear if it’ll be your main truck, SCX10.2 for sure. GMade are great but are limited more on modifications and the R1 is a different rig all together, and would be boring if you ever went on the trails. Can’t go wrong with an Axial.

Hi saw your video on the sca 1e I'm after a RTR crawler for around the £200 mark would that be the best in your opinion thanks
@ExperienceRC3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ben. If I was you I would highly recommend getting the Deluxe Range Rover, I think it’s £250 ish? Reason I say that is to buy the body separately it’s about £50, and the licensed Range Rover wheels are about £100, which actually makes the kit a steal. The plastics are a tiny bit softer than I’d like (so be careful tightening screws) but on the whole I can’t see how it can be beaten for money. Both my SCX10.2 and TRX4 cost twice as much, and the geometry out of the box for the SCA1E is simply better. Overall it’s a fantastic truck, but if you go for the cheaper model, you will need to replace the plastic wheels for weighted beadlocks, which again makes the RR much more worthwhile, it’s also licensed and looks better in my opinion. I hope this helps.
