@2:30 "Variable throttle roller" it's actually just the steering D/R. They call it "ATV" and it adjust maximum steering angle on both sides. Great when you have a track with a long straight followed by lots of turns, you can then adjust it on the fly as you race and not oversteer on the str8 section.
@daver18qc7 жыл бұрын
@6:50 Actually Axial get those from Hobbywing also, like the rest of them :) They are all the same ESC but i've come to notice that on the new GEN7 Redcat there is also one and they say you can remove the drag brake "jumper" to actually get 0 drag brake, which is something not told by Axial, so i wonder if Redcat got a new revision or if Axial just omitted to tell us that.
@GCMRacing17 жыл бұрын
HobbyWing sells several versions of the same thing, and they aren't all the same. For instance the 1060 esc from HW has a drag brake, and other stuff due to the jumpers.. the Dynamite version has the same jumpers, but different features, and then the 3rd use of that 1060 has no drag brake at all... I wonder if that GEN7 is the same sort of thing, built for Redcat on the same platform?
@daver18qc7 жыл бұрын
Could very well be ! I asked some of the guys with the AE-5s to test it for me, if they can get 0 drag on it also by removing their jumper. Waiting on their replies.

Those Tamiya connectors will actually hold up for many years if used properly. The pins wobble around inside the connector making them difficult to connect. Sometimes they just need to be wiggled around while connecting but in some cases the pins gets smashed to one side. I once accidentally charged a lipo battery on NIMH settings which nearly resulted in a fire. Nowadays I try keep Tamiya connectors on all my NIMH batteries so that I don’t confuse them with lipo batteries anymore.

Looks like a nice truck, the matt finish looks great. Chrome steel wheels for sure would look great with the chrome grill,rear bumper,wipers and mirrors. And its nice to see a little bit of suspension sag right out of the box, for me most seem to come with springs that are way too stiff.
@GCMRacing17 жыл бұрын
I will say... a racing company making scale shocks is a real treat! The truck naturally sits on the spring, and the shocks are so freaking smooth it's silly. I'm guessing this thing will ride real nice on the trail and rocks!

ESC is a rebranded Hobbywing unit but correct it is same as one used by Axial in the SCX10 and by HPI in their Maverick Scout so tried and tested. I have several of them in my RCs and never had any problems

They are good, yeah. I've seen a couple catch fire... real fire.. but it's always from the same thing.. using a low turn motor that draws much more amperage.

@BasBoyRC7 жыл бұрын
I've already raised my front bumper and to fit the chrome bumper you will need to make a bracket. I do not know why they have chop the front panel down as in early pictures you can see it's deeper.
@GCMRacing17 жыл бұрын
Agree.. it seems they trimmed off the bottom section where the front chrome bumper would have been. Hopefully they will release the lexan body kit sometime and we can build it with the bumpers on the body both ends!

It looks as though the chrome front bumper goes in the void instead of dropping the body place the chrome front bumper in between the body and the winch bumper that should fill that optical illussion that your seeing before you customize brackets definitely want to see this machine totally assembled

I'm planning to purchase a beginner's level crawler.. my price limit is USD $300.00 .. do I get this or Redcat Pro? Thos rig looks a bit more equipped stock.. I always look for metal/aluminium suspension parts.. also the drive shaft being metal is really cool.. I've looked at dozens of review vidds..and the entry level crawlers between $150 to $300 mainly come with stock plastic drive shafts..great review.. I'll be needing info as I begin my rc hobbying quest...

Before you try adjusting the body to the bumper, let me bring it to your attention that the bumper itself has two mounting positions built into it. Pull the two screws and adjust up, then re attach screws from bottom of mount.

Thanks! I see that, yeah. Cool feature for sure!

Hey, I got the Carisma SCA-1E yesterday but the slowest speed on the truck is already way to fast to climb precisely and there isnt a smooth transition between minimal and full speed. The throttle limiter doesn't fix this and neighter the throttle trim. What part do I need to replace to fix this? I assume the ESC? (I still need to learn a lot about RC's ;D) and how do I know if I buy a new part that I don't get the same problem. Also, the weird thing is; it does have a pretty decent transition when I reverse, so maybe I can flip/swap something so that reverse becomes forwards? ( for instance some wires? or is that bad for the motor?) Or i can somehow modify the remote so there is a throttle ATV. or buy an other remote, but what types of remotes can I than buy? (sorry for the many questions) I hope I can get a reply so I can continue to love RC's😁

The body is a Toyota Hilux . Toyota made this body style from about 1960 - 1969 . There was some changes in this truck threw those years but the basic style was the same to a degree . The only thing the grill on this truck seems to be wrong for the Hilux . I always like the 60 Toyota truck style best I like was the 1966 Hilux .

Don't put a lipo 3 battery's in this rig the manufacturer says you can and the battery tray is a awesome fit for one but I kid you not it ran great for about 20 minutes.... By the way get your cameras out when this happens cause the fireball it makes is quite spectacular!!! We unplugged the battery and the speed control module looked like silly puddie didn't smell to great either so we grabbed another coyote truck off the shelf in the shop took the speed module out that truck put it in the first rig and didn't even get two feet an same results and again get your cameras out for this.

andy randy I have one of these and i run two 3s lipos in it in parallel. Ive had no problems at all with mine. It keeps up on the trail with my friends Komoto and my other friends SCX 10. Honestly for the price you cant beat thid truck! Ive been running the snot out of mine for months now, and havent actually had to change anything on it at all.... That being said ive also upgraded the steering servo, steering links, and steering knuckles. But not cause i needed to, i just wanted aluminum ones. Also i put a 55 turn motor in it to up my torque a bit.

@GCMRacing17 жыл бұрын
Not sure why, it's so completely different from any Vaterra. Actually, many of the SCX upgrades will bolt right on this, thanks to the same bolt spacing etc.. which is a great thing for aftermarket. It's way smaller than the Vaterra trucks, less wide, and shorter, etc. Much smaller tires than Vaterra also.
