Let’s be honest. Foggy made WSBK in the 90s... his fiery temperament - great, fast riding & competing with some other REALLY GOOD riders produced some amazing battles and rivalries.

Except Rea has won 6 on the bounce. In my mind Hislop was a better rider, but his temperament and attitude meant he didn't get the breaks that CF got, always a bit of luck involved. I watched the 92 senior TT from Rhencullen, what a race.

A true racing legend watch all his races and watched him live in South Africa a brilliant rider. WSBK not the same any more
@johnfenton79909 жыл бұрын
A bit outspoken, but he brought WSBK to the fans, now the sport is distant and not so friendly and the riders ride-round empty stadiums. Carl could also ride a 2 stroke, which he proved in the 500 class wild card rides he had. A real shame that he didn't move to 500's because I believe he could've got another championship.

Man had King Kong balls. One thing I always wondered how the UK Always had world champions in individual sports And but rarely in team sports. For example. Carl fogerty Lewis Hamilton Lennox Lewis Andy Murray Colin macray And countless Others in almost every sport there is. Almost like my country full of great parts that can never add up the sums to work as unit. It is a wonder indeed. Maybe a good spanking is in order. For them to realise the Wins are great individually but when you can do it at will as team The stories taste much better later on beacuse Other ppl who not only know the highs you on about but they can feel it cuz they was there A perfectly engineered highly efficient winning machine is the stuff of dreams. Maybe it is time to learn German Wouldn't be that much of stretch.

Clearly a top guy BUT, in his autobiography he claims he was the second best British rider of all time after Hailwood. Rather a silly thing to say. Foggy never won a World GP road race championship. How could he be so sure he would have beaten the likes of Woods, Graham, Duke, Surtees and Sheene in the day on the machinery available at the time? I can only guess his 'ghost writer' goaded him into saying that to make the book more controversial.
@smith27818 жыл бұрын
Yeah but that is foggy all over. I remember him saying put me in a Ferrari F1 car and I'll beat Schumacher easy. As Barry Sheene once said about Foggy "he should be a great rider as he's well balanced because he has a chip on each shoulder " lol.

THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE. HE MADE NO IMPACT AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF MOTORCYCLE ROADRACING AT THAT TIME,WHICH WAS 500cc GRAND PRIX. AND THE GUYS HE HAD BATTLES WITH AND OFTEN BEAT HIM IN WSK,ALSO MADE LITTLE IMPACT IN 500cc GRAND PRIX.SO YOU SILLY POMMIES ARE MAKING A "LEGEND" OF SOMEONE WHO WON A FEW CHAMPIONSHIPS A RUNG OR TWO DOWN THE LADDER. THOSE U.S. AND AUSTRALIAN RIDERS WERE DEMI-GODS IN THE GOLDEN ERA OF 500's.THEY ARE THE TRUE LEGENDS.

He made several starts in Moto GP, filling in for Pierfrancesco Chili on an ROC bike for a while in 1990, with a best finish of sixth at the Swedish Grand Prix. He also contested the 500cc British Grand Prix several times. In 1992 he ran sixth before crashing on oil. In 1993 he qualified on the second row, and ran second early on after Alex Barros, Mick Doohan and Kevin Schwantz crashed on the first lap. He was set for third when he ran out of fuel, coasting over the line in fourth behind three Yamahas. He was entered again in 1994, but withdrew pre-race - citing a hand injury but later admitting that he felt the ride was uncompetitive.
