@Bodie20202 жыл бұрын
When you are in the zone is almost primal. You pretty well disconnect from reality. My best races I don’t remember. I completely shut my conscious brain off and ride. There’s little glimpses that come to me but that’s it. My fellow racers soon learned that asking me what I thought about the track was useless. I raced off-road and we didn’t get to practice the course. The ones we did pre ride I was terrible on.

@@P5RCYJACKSON4EVER yeah our eyes addapt and slow down the world for you. you can actually try it for yourself in a car. if you go out on a highway and just drive att 180-200kmh (125mph) for a while and then try to slow down and get on the offramp/get off the highway. you will notice how your mind thinks you are going 40kmh but your speedo says 110kmh it's what's called speed blindness. :)

On the Isle of Man there are no namby pamby gravel pit run offs like you get on regular race tracks. If you go into a telegraph pole at those speeds, you snap it in half. As indeed actually happened one year.

No speed limit on those roads. That's how the race exists.

Thanks Guy, love the way you talked us through that... I've ridden bikes, but what you do is on another planet - God bless you! ... I get it now, you weren't only talking about the riding but about almost having 'compassion' for the engineering and its limits!

Glad he pulled away from TT before it cost him his life. Would be such a waste. Really clever bloke with much more to offer than balls out speed. ** EDIT FOR THOSE LACKING SOME CELLS ffs** Goes with out saying that you have skills to road race espeacilly at the TT and other road races. Other racers in general dont present interesting programmes or take part in other interesting engineering events. He hasn't won yet and I'm saying it would be ashame to lose him chasing it as its equally a shame to lose any other skilled rider. We frikin happy now?
