Furudate's idea was to have both Karasuno and Nekoma (and largely Hinata and Kenma) be the main characters, yes, though they decided against it together with the editor. But Kuroo and Kenma were some of the first characters to appear; Kageyama actually used to look like Kenma, and Furudate recalled always doodling Kuroo on the edge of the manuscripts, wanting to include him somewhere. There's actually a bonus story behind Kenma's hair change: he accidentally spooked Yamamoto in the club room once, reminding him of that scary girl from the Ring, and Yamamoto told Kenma it makes him stand out - that's why Kenma almost immediately dyed his hair blond (and once his roots started showing up, he couldn't be bothered, hence the pudding head).

I love that you put so much emphasis in the intro on Kageyama's smile and the trust he has in Tanaka :) that pays off so well going forward with Kageyama's "the threat of trust" arc with Tanaka. Nekoma is certainly the best fleshed team after Karasuno and I think that it's them two that we are always most likely to root for, so when/if they go against each other it would be so challenging and bittersweet.

3:22 To me personally, the smile that Kags gives at that moment is kind of similar to the one that Suga gives when Asahi calls for him to set the ball to me in S1 . Asahi - " SUGAAAAAAAAAAA " Suga - " The ace calls...." It really just feels like Kageyama smiled and said the same words as Suga to the future ace of the team. The outlook of that smile is killing. Kenma actually dyed his hair cause he keeps standing out. People kept saying he looks like "sadako" a japanese horror character (he likes his long black hair covering his face and sight to narrow his perspective cause, wide perspective and view makes him nervous) So to not stand out anymore because he hates the attention he dyed his hair blonde. Little did he know his blonde hair made him stand out even more ahahahhaha

3:22 yeah, before Kags grins he looked at Tanaka to check if Tanaka’s mentally and physically prepared to hit, which is what he learned from coach Ukai in s4 ep7 (importance to check the players condition). And then he hears that epic LEFTOOOOOO and got convinced and smiked like this senpai is built different!! And also, I think it’s always a relief to know that your spiker is waiting for the toss, because of what happened to Kags in junior high😢

I don't think that's why she said her heart was broken. Pretty sure, it's because she low key loves him but wasn't sure until she cried a little that night he ditched her. Looking at that tactic form a volleyballers perspective. Its stupid. You can try to make the opponents move around more by spiking und feinting the ball to annoying places but you never purposely don’t score a point.

They are not trying to avoid scoring, they are as they said trying to tire out Kenma. They were still trying to score and get them ut off their rythm. It is Just that Nekoma is that good at reciving. And Kenma is the one who controls the team and is their best setter. Getting him tired will only make it easier and probably the only way they had a chance off winning. Since they are Just a worse version off Nekoma.
