Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that Carhartt in spite of getting hyped up by street wear, still has kept their prices extremely affordable for all the hard working men and women out there. That’s what I call staying true to your roots.

I absolutely agree, clothing is such a big part of how you present yourself to the world. When people look at you, how you dress and groom yourself will probably be the first thing they base their impression of you off of, and first impressions are really hard to overcome after the fact. I also think when you dress well, you feel more confident, and self-confidence is probably the best quality for anyone who is trying to make an impression
@DB-xo6xh4 жыл бұрын
@@onebackzach Something I decided long ago....dressing well and looking put-together is a kind way to show respect to others around you because clothes do have a huge impact on how we see each other whether you admit it or not.. When we are clean and look presentable, we are ready to meet anyone and we can give off a confident and pleasant attitude. Dressing well can show others that we have many other positive qualities. I'm a 33 yo woman and I've been told that I look more like a girl in the fashion or creative industry, but I work long, challenging, hours as a chef in SF, CA. But it's also fun and important to care about your appearance and take time to take care of your body.

I believe it is because of the punk scene. As far back as the late 90's, a few subcultures of punk would wear Carhartts. Namely bike punks (who would constantly be working on their bikes), crust punks who would be train hopping and dumpster diving and sometimes living on the street, etc. Around 2010 or so this began to take root as many punk aesthetics became popularized.

A five star review and video presentation. I too am a Carhartt fan - I love their vests, jackets (old style Detroit and chore coat) and bibs ( I have 3 pair). I've worn Carhartt since I was in high school in the late 60's. Your grandfather was quite correct - invest in the tools of your livelihood and clothes are a part of it, especially if they keep you protected and comfortable. Be Calm and Carry on.

I’ve been wearing Carthartt since 2001. That’s when I first became a plumbing apprentice. Since then I’ve also accumulated lots of pieces from carthartt. I live in the south so I don’t need as many jackets but I do have a few. I’ve worn lots of their T-shirt’s and jeans. I’ve bought new jeans only because the color has faded so much that they don’t look presentable. Other than that. The construction is amazing. I’ve always wanted to wear some pieces out as evening wear, but some of the fits are well a little roomy. Almost baggy in some fits. Well I found some Carthartt WIP. I bought some chinos and also a few nice shirts to wear out with the wife. I get so many compliments, and they still have Carthartt reliable construction to them.

I relate to this video so much My Grandpa is a farmer & carpenter he has always worn Carhartt clothing as long as I can remember I remember sitting on his lap at the farm house and distinctly remember that Carhartt logo on his pocket with his glasses and carpenter pencil in it. We even had matching Carhartt bibs and jackets for winter and I grew up to work for him doing construction and to this day at 25 all I wear to work are Carhartt K87 shirts and various Carhartt pants, I've tried lots of brands like Berne,Dickies, Duluth,Filson etc. None compare to the quality I get with Carhartt and being 6'6 their tall sizes fit me great and the full swing series are the only coats I can wear and lift my arms without my jacket going half way up my torso. All in all a great brand with much nostalgia for me.

I loved Carhartt for many years, and still wear the excellent Carhartt items I’ve owned for a long time, but they lost my business when they stopped making their stuff in the USA. I know they make a few items here again, and if they bring it all (or at least a majority) back I’ll start buying their stuff again.

Very good video! I always had a interest in carhartt and north face for the utilitarian purpose and I just love how they look. Never had anything of none of those brands cause I dont work with construction (worked for a brief moment) and there is no dealer of carhartt here in Brazil. ANyway, you should make a video about the current relation of carhartt with streetwear!

My grandfather had briar britches made my Carhartt for quail hunting, they are now discontinued. They also made hunting vest, not sure if they still do.

It's because of the punk scene. Punks wore them as far back as the 90's for train hopping, working on bikes, dumpster diving, squatting, etc. They prized them because they were durable and functional (and therefore cut down on waste and excess). Many elements of the punk aesthetic have seeped their way into the mainstream, many subcultures have punk roots, especially the indie rock scene. Google "crust punk carhartts". I was involved in the scene when I was much younger and I had several pairs which I still have (way too fat to fit into them today haha)

@@tommartin3697 Skateboarding and punk rock were fairly synonymous in the 80's and into the 90's as well. There's definitely a lot of crossover, although when I got into skating in the early-mid 90's, most of the skaters I knew were into grunge. Some gravitated towards hip hop and rap, and others went back to the punk roots of skating.

@@rebbattt7526 nice man. It's the best clothing brand in my opinion. Lifelong gear. I've never burned thru a single piece of their clothing yet.

I've been wearing Carhartt for welding for over 10 years. In recent years I started to get my hands on the Double front firm duck (BO1) pants that I wear everyday but they are USA Made. The biggest advantage to the USA made ones is the right leg pocket has a full divider that is sewn on the bottom. The Mexico made ones only had a small divider at the top put both sides were essentially the same pocket. This pocket is always the first pocket to wear out as it holds my Welpers or pliers. I would then switch sides and wear the other side out out. lol. The USA made ones seem much better with the double layered pocket. Also, one note on carhartt duck material is if you can avoid washing it it will last longer.

Finally just got my Carhartt Jacket! Vintage strap cuff type RN# 14806 brown XL. Thrift store had just put it out on the rack. Been looking for years for one. Grand total $12......and yes it is awesome, and I am not reselling it.

I work a factory job in Iowa. I have a work uniform but on my way in and from my job i always wear my thick Carhartt winter coat. Im pretty sure its the reason I was able to weather the polar vortex last year so well.

WOW - Another great video!! I love Carhartt! I actually have not bought much new from them (kind of like Filson) - so that says a lot. I believe - over the past 15-20 years, Filson has made a conscious decision to go after a different clientele , while Carhartt is of the thinking: "...dance with who brung you". I did recently purchase a set of Carhartt seat covers (front and back) for my daily driver (2019 Tacoma). I would not have bought these for my wife's vehicles as she likes a less utilitarian look. A few folks (reviewers) said the Carhartt Seat Covers were too "pricey" but after seeing and using them for a while...they are like the other Carhartt items I own...nothing flashy, just good for keeping the seats clean and being sturdy...they just do the job for which they were intended. Not to many products - at any price point - do that anymore, and that's a shame.

I got a carhartt jacket in 4th grade, so like 5 years ago. I wore it every day in the winter and it kept me so warm and never wore out, I even still wear carhartt pants hunting. My carhartt jacket is too small for me now unfortunately

I wear the Black Double Knee pants a lot, for their professional appearance. Like you said people walk right by all the big Dogs to go to me, because they always think that I am in charge. Although I must own over 50 Carhartt Pieces ..... The one that I love the most is the water proof shoreline jacket, I wear the camo one the most & people ask where I got it all the time. I occasionally wear the Black one.... the ladies seem to like that one.

Hey Carl, Fairly new subscriber and was wondering if you have ever made a video about your career? How you transitioned from being on the tools to foreman etc. As a self employed carpenter Id be interested to know.

I’ve been rocking Carhartt for the last 20y on the job site. Wear them until holes in the double front knees and they stand up by themselves with all the caked mortar. But I work for a living and don’t do Instagram.
