It shouldn’t be allowed. The timer should only start when both players are at the table. Unfair advantage, this should never happen in chess. Whether or not it for a world championship or not. Even amateur players should start when both are ready to begin, not before. There should be disqualification if you are late to a match. They should give you 1 minute after your start time and if you don’t show up, then your disqualified.

@@joedorben3504 that's definitely false. Carlsen isn't even nearly as dominant as many other champions of their time used to be. He might be slightly favored to win a tournament he participates in, but by no means is that a given.
@tomhoffs82094 жыл бұрын
@@joedorben3504 I mean exactly what i said. You need to get your facts straight. Let's define the major chess tournaments he participates in that have the highest level of competition as Tata Steel, Sinquefield Cup, Norway Chess and Shamkir Chess. Let's take the time frame of 2017-2019. In that time he won: 2/3 Tata Steel (combined score 26/39), 1/3 Sinquefield Cup (combined score 17,5/27) with the only first place being shared between him, Caruana and Aronian, 1/3 Norway Chess (combined score of 8,5/18, 2019 results can't really be factored into this because of weird scoring system) and 2/2 Shamkir Chess (combined score of 13/18). That brings us to a grand total of 6/11 major tournament wins with a combined total score of 65/102 which is a tournament win rate of 54,54% and a game win rate of 63,73%. I fail to see how that equals to ''every other major tournament he played, it's basically predetermined that he will win". For me, those percentages speak a different language. During their primes, the most dominant players like Karpov, Kasparov, Fischer etc. had numbers nearing or surpassing 90%. The argument of their opponent's lacking strength is completely invalid, as in any sports or field of research the previous generations will always have a way lower performance level than the ones following them due to the way that research and progression work. There is absolutely no merit to saying that people like Kasparov were only good because everyone they played was a patzer with no idea of the game.
@tomhoffs82094 жыл бұрын
@@joedorben3504 Judging by what you were saying earlier, that is definitely not what you meant. Regardless, I never doubted the fact that he is the world champion, nor that he is currently the best player. My point, which is correct and which you obviously did not agree with, is that he definitely does not just win automatically if he participates in a tournament. I proved this point at lenght, so there is no need to debate about that anymore. You are doing the same logical mistake. If Carlsen is rated 50 points higher, that is because he is better than his opponents. If Fischer is rated 125 points higher, that is because his opponents are worse than him? Your logic is contradictory. Obviously if a player was more dominant during their era, that means their rating difference was higher. That is just proving my point. To say that during all the eras someone managed to achieve such dominance all other players were coincidentially just bad is ridiculous. And, I repeat, there is no point in comparing players over 2 generations. 50 years of learning, study, engines and what have you have developed the game so much more that it is just the only logical thing that obviously everyone who is top now is way better than everyone in the past was. This is the same way for any other activity imagineable. A player has to be measured by how good they were compared to their opponents, comparisons between players of different eras are invalid and will always be. Carlsen is the best player of this era, Kasparov was the best player of his era, Karpov/Fischer were the best players of their era. Yet their dominance was much greater than that of Carlsen.

Reminds me the time in college where I studied c++ all semester and was sleeping the day before the exam. Woke up to some noise and noticed my class mates gathering by the door to see me sleep.

imagine the other guy just standing up, casually wasting 30 seconds of his time walking around and sit back down, sadly he did not have the balls 😉

I believe these are some of the things that makes magnus lost to some of his games online. Because the 20 seconds is such power move and it surely makes a huge difference mentally and psychologically.

Totally understanable when Matlakov makes his first move before Carlsen was ready. Nice that he crushes him anyway🙌

1:32 Picking up and torturing your opponents poor peasant by rolling him between your giant fingers. A horrific scene taking place in front of the enemy kingdom, all they can do is gasp with frightened silence... ! This is psychological warfare. And then Magnus shows why he is really the Grandmaster - at 1:44 he agrees to let the peasant go (maybe there is still time to save this poor, insignificant soul?!) JUST KIDDING! He picks him up again for another round of torture!!! Crushing the enemies morale into the oblivion! This is where the game ended for white! His army could never find the strength to recover from what they had witnessed... this day would always be remembered as "Sean the Pawn" after this brave little guy, who's only crime, was to guard a tower.

Ke7 was a very nice touch at 7.24, because if magnus immediately went for ne2, after kf2 and bxa1, theres c5 so matlakov can take the pawn on a2. By playing ke7, magnus kicks back the bishop so the pawn on a2 can queen.
@dzakyrahman7656 Жыл бұрын
thank you for explaining this, I didn't realize that indeed Ke7 is the only best move, even though Ne2 straightaway is good, but the pawn can't be promoted.
