My condolences are with you and your family. Lost my step mum coming up four years this June, she too fought the good fight against cancer. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her... Grief isn’t a straight line, it changes you like nothing else. I’m not going to promise you that everything will one day return to the same normal that existed before you lost her, that you will be the same as before, that’s unrealistic. I WILL promise you that you slowly develop a new normal, you slowly learn to exist in a world without them and will one day breath without a crushing weight on your chest. It starts bit by bit. You learn to say their name without crying. You realise the so called ‘5 stages of grief’ aren’t in order or checkmarks you need to tick off. The first birthdays and holidays after really suck, but sharing the grief helps. You don’t need to ‘return to normal’ because you’re figuring out YOUR new normal. I love her, I miss her, I still grieve for her but now I can laugh at the happy memories instead on focusing on Judy’s physical absence. I carry her in my soul as you will too.

I swear this song was made for me. I’m 22, getting back from being overseas and scared about what my future holds. I don’t have a real “hometown” to go back to. Everyone close to me has either passed or moved away. Still, I find myself homesick and nostalgic to the times when things were so much more simpler. I would give anything to go back and soak it all up. To spend one more day with my grandpa before he gained his angel wings... before I was so consumed and worried about what boys thought of me. I’m not where I thought I would be. I have been all around the world and I find myself at this song, still feeling so small and stuck in my life.

Life is certainly tough, especially at your age and dealing with loss. Stay strong. You are still young and can make choices now to influence your future. Think about what your interests are and start taking steps in that direction. A Lot of people your age feel like you.

Your avatar picture reminds me of my daughter, she was also 22 years old. She was in the Canadian military and deployed overseas in Afghanistan. She came home sick, she contracted meningitis over there some how. She was put in the hospital here in her hometown, but unfortunately she went septic and passed away. She was just a beautiful girl and I miss her so much. I like to think she's an angel on my shoulder now. I don't why I'm even writing this here!? I just saw your avatar and I just felt I have to.. Sorry for the long comment. You seem like an amazing girl, take life by the horns and make it the best life ever!

This song came out after losing my mom and brother. Which of course changed everything in my life. Don't take moments for granted. Now it's been seven years since my mom passed and 6 for my brother. When i say don't waste the time you have with those you love...my daughter is now 9 and my son 10. These years are flying by with ALL of our lives on this planet. And it absolutely definitely will NOT always be like this! For better or for worse nothing will be the same in 7 years and you can't go back once time has passed. Nothing is forever. Im 34 now and I've never been more acutely aware of this than I am now. This is a great song that serves as a much needed reminder that even though life feels really awful alot of the time it can always be worse...

as a 37 year old who is a mother of a 5 & 2 year old this song hit me in a different way. I wish I knew back in my 20’s my dad would die when I was 36, I would have cherished our moments in arizona by his pool, our late night cookie snacks in the kitchen, turning the tv off when he fell asleep in his chair with it blaring, hearing him snore, the seemingly silly moments, his warm hug. I wouldn’t have taken these moments for granted. I would have forgiven quicker. I am thankful for the lesson at 37, because now I know each moment is a gift and life is too short to get wrapped up in stupid quarrels. Make every moment your masterpiece and be grateful for all your blessings. I am. I have my sweet husband, my sweet children, my mom and my friends. I will love them as long as i have them. ❤️

🥰Enjoy the lyrics [Verse 1] I remember how I couldn’t wait to get out of my hometown Now I’m looking for every excuse to go back on the weekend I can still see the front porch balcony, every time I leave, Grandpa waving back at me Wish I coulda told myself back then [Chorus] It won’t always be like this It won’t always be like this I know nothing lasts forever But sometimes I still forget It won’t always be like this [Verse 2] I remember hearing the door slam, 22, didn’t have a clue Who I was, who I could trust and who were my real friends I had big wings but didn’t have a sky, just a front row view Of everybody flying high, waiting for my time Wish I coulda told myself back then [Chorus] It won’t always be like this It won’t always be like this I know nothing lasts forever But sometimes I still forget It won’t always be like this, no [Bridge] Looking at you, looking back at me All I wanna do is make another memory And love you like it’s the end [Chorus] ‘Cause it won’t always be like this It won’t always be like this No, it won’t always be like this I know t won’t always be like this I wish love would last forever So I could live it all again It won’t always be like this It won’t always be like this

Beautiful song! Love her voice! It’s very relatable in so many ways. Some songs are cathartic in releasing emotions you don’t want to face because it’s too painful and you don’t want to cry, but sometimes you just need to let it all out! This song does that for me sometimes! Now I’m a hot mess, lol, yet still keep listening. Every so often, I can only picture the last few hours by my dad’s bedside in the hospital. I try so hard to flood my head with memories of the good times and when he was healthy. He was so stoic as they told him that he wouldn’t be going home. He tried to be strong for us. My mom loved him for 61 years of her life! She was 13 when his family moved upstairs! She was with him until his last breath. I don’t know why I just put all this out in public, and wrote a soliloquy! So unlike me! I guess I needed to!

Left my small town, family and history behind to find something else. I look back now after I've lost my grandparents and my parents with sorrow. What I wouldn't give to have one more evening listening to grandpa whistle, to hear grandma sing, to see dad laugh at the dog or mom cooking in the kitchen. 6000 miles and an ocean between me and there, I don't regret leaving or where I am but I miss it.
