She failed to recognize that Jay is studious and recognized that he would have to learn his prey to claim his spot. He always had a plan and ulterior motive and she was a means to an end. To get the top spot one obsesses over the individual at the top. So the infatuation was a studious obsession vis-à-vis The Art of War. Anyone who holds the position of president of a label always has the power to decide who gets signed or not. It would be crazy for LA Reid to sign Nas without consulting Jay knowing that they had one of the biggest rivalry's in the history of hip hop. LA Reid is way too smart to do something like that.

Lyor Cohen offered Jay Z the Presidency but got caught up in legal drama for torturous interference. When they brought LA Reid there he had all the mandate and powers. Jeezy Rick Ross Rihanna were all signed when Jay was President but Jay doesn't get credit for those signings. Because the position is a puppet show. It's like a political party...the party drafts the policy and the face just enacts and embodies it. Jay was a face.
