@@ZeeDrakon Then sell me the bridge, how is this an excuse? In terms of characters it's carmen explaining what happened, but in context to other events prior, after and her thoughts/her pov. In terms of audience 'Where in the world is carmen sandiego?' came out over two decades ago and as far as I'm aware the show's not easy to find without being blasted by ads, there's also issues in quality with streaming services presumably not to get copyrighted [though take it with a grain salt since, again, 2 decades]. There's also the fact of animation taking time and especially in this flat, almost lineless vector type being quite hard to do. And that's under the presumption they're tweening and not doing frame by frame since even with a team that takes fucking ages- my point is that the writers wouldn't dedicate two episodes to backstory without reason, since as shown with the undertones and coupling [goat & mole, the flowers sent to julia as well as the subtext there, you get the point] the writers are taking advantage of their freedom from what I can tell. However if you have proof saying otherwise you're welcome to expand on your points. Said points seem to be 'it's an excuse to do two filler episodes but also fill them with plot' so expansion would be useful. Do you mean they used the excuse of 'oh but the new viewers don't know!' as an excuse or that in terms of real life Carmen's excuse was poor to Crackle? Cause I think pointing out that 'this is how I escaped and what I found out while you weren't around' is a pretty good reason and even provides new context to situations that Crackle himself was in. Like to Crackle he was just doing a job but to Carmen he was attacking an innocent bystander. But then that wouldn't be an excuse- that'd be the writers fulfilling a requirement, that being writing and planting seeds for lore. Though again this could all be ripped from the OG show so if it is, I'd like to see proof. Not like 'ohhh! pics or didn't happen' it's more so people lie a looooot.

To be honest I don't even think it's possible to argue otherwise anymore after Dr. Bellum's "Your precious boy" comment. A lot of people will get mad when characters who are queer aren't shown as such in an overly direct or explicit way and while I agree that it's exhilarating to see queer characters kiss or state their sexuality out loud on screen I do appreciate more subtle representation like in CS just as much. Especially as a non white/western person I have to be incredibly careful with what media I mention or talk about where and with who. Media that does include repsentation of people like myself while still leaving room for deniability is amazing. I can gush about it to friends, watch it with others and even safely buy or carry things from it around with me in public! The people know know and the ones who don't don't. I watched some of the earlier spop episodes with my cousins immensely enjoying the queer representation especially Catra and Adora's relationship without any of them taking note of it. Instead they enjoyed the show with me and we all had a good time. Once again I love how much more direct queer representation in media has gotten from Ruby and Saphire to the wonders of lumity to Benson straight up admitting he's gay on screen. I wouldn't change a single thing about it. But it's important to not condemn/dismiss subtler representation in media. Because subtle representation that can fly below censors while evrything more direct gets cut or banned let's queer people in more conservative countries and homes see themselves on screen! Especially for evryone who's from the middle east like me. I watched TMVSTM with my dad and cried when I realized Katie's character was queer. My dad didn't notice which allowed me to see the movie and see myself in it's queer character in the first place. So yeah subtle representation is just as important as more direct rep! Keep in mind that there's a difference between censorship and being subtle too. So don't harras creators or dismiss the representation in their creations as lacking or baiting just because they want to bring their work to a larger audience. Another plus of subtle representation is that people who normally wouldn't have consumed media with queer characters still end up being exposed to them even if they don't notice at first or at all. Which is good in ultimatively minimalizing the stigma that is still sorounding queerness by subtly introducing people to it. This is getting incredibly long, I'm going to cut of here. English isn't my first or even my second or third language so I hope I still managed to make sense in my reasoning.

Let's be honest, age difference aside, Carmen and Julia's probably the only one of these non-canon ships that can be considered healthy. Didn't want to admit it, but Crackle really is kinda the brother, Tigress makes Shego look like Amity (TOH), and Paperstar's psychotic. Julia's wrapped around Carmen's finger, and she likes it.

Gives him enough time to learn how to be an electrician, prove his mettle enough to become a junior electrician at the Sydney Opera House, get bored of it enough to use those skills to commit crimes (after figuring out how to do so, of course), and go through VILE's training program. I mean, he could've been a prodigy in the field, but if that were the case it would've been something that came up to connect him and Carmen.

Paper Star really deserved a bigger role. She was first revealed as a terrifying threat and her character design is just *chef's kiss* but then they nerfed her by letting Carmen win every time. I get it, Carmen is the hero but Paper Star had the potential to be a bigger threat. I also refuse to believe that she threw all those stars at Carmen, the same ones that broke glass and stone, and yet Carmen escaped unscathed. Tigress, El Topo and Le Chevre were skilled but not that bright. Paper Star was both, her only disadvantage would be when she ran out of paper. I wish they had made her a more serious character in the show.

*Twiddles thumbs* I watched up to the beginning season three of the original series. It took some getting use to Carmen not being the thrill seeking head of VILE. Also had to get to Zack and Ivy not being ACME agents. I liked the reference to Dr. Bellum’s original hair design with the flashback in season two. As well as the rendition of the game show theme song. This reboot is full of good Easter eggs.
