I found as I ate more meat and less refined carbs, my desire for booze subsided. There is the habit side of booze, like a beer after a hot day or heavy work like mowing the lawn, and then the unconscious or addicted desire where you just want it. At one stage I was putting away a bottle of wine a night and a few beers. Recently it took me three days to drink a bottle of wine and I kind of had to force myself to finish it - stupid I know, but not wanting to 'waste' it was a strong feeling. We do things for some stupid reasons sometimes.

I understand “don’t wanna wast it”. I get the same intense feeling at times. If you are in the same dilemma maybe you can just use the wine in the cooking, it last for a while in the fridge and while you are technically still consuming it it has a different role. Also it’s much less quantity per time and you can get a nice sauce, for your meat😊 Then you are not wasting but you are also not technically drinking. You are repurposing. It’s funny how the mind works but things like this might help. You can also save it and make fancy sauce when you have non carnivore guests, then you don’t even have to consume if you do t want, give it to the guests and have your meat plain. All the best to you, Cheers

I’m 61, 6’3” and have lost 79 lbs (was 300 lbs, now 221) on Ketovore (95% carnivore) and have reversed/cured type 2 diabetes, high blood sugar, acid reflux, sleep apnea, IBS, headaches, depression, anxiety and more. Also now off all meds.😊 However, while I do sincerely appreciate how incredibly knowledgeable, amazing and also how incredibly strict both of you are on your carnivore WOE… I’ve found that I am thriving eating beef, lamb, pork, chicken, seafood, eggs, bacon, butter with some limited dairy (1-2 tbsp heavy cream in my morning coffee) and occasional/limited amts of cheese and occasional berries. After watching this video, I felt like coffee is a bad thing, dangerous to my health in fact. I’ve watched a ton of videos by Dr Berry, Dr Cywes, Dr Bikman, Dr Westman and many others who disagree and feel that coffee is “neutral”/not bad for most people. I have no noticeable negative effects from drinking coffee whatsoever and in fact enjoy it very much. I put some gf butter, heavy cream and a dash of organic monk fruit sweetener, cinnamon and vanilla and it acts as a “bridge” during my daily intermittent fasts, allowing me to feel satisfied until I eat my 1st of 2 meals. I feel that this ketovore (95% carnivore) WOE works best for me, but I do realize that some people need to be more restrictive due to autoimmune conditions and/or not being able to moderate (they are abstainers) and need to cut out anything (like cheese, berries, heavy cream, etc) that might tempt them and cause them to either fall off the wagon or experience serious/negative health effects. Great video Dr Lisa and Dr Chaffee!! 😊😊🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩🐮🐑🥓🐷🐠🍤🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

@@heatherwills7559 In the wild most rivers and streams have salt, potassium, and magnesium in them. In addition animals in the wild will seek out "salt licks," rocks or other things that contain high quantities of salt. Pure H2O is actually not healthy for us, but a healthy body rapidly adjusts electrolytes in the blood to compensate for water when we drink it free of electrolytes. I, personally need between 2 - 3 teaspoons of sodium and a couple of dashes of potassium in the form of "No Salt" to keep away the symptoms you describe. I don't consider that a burden when I consider how bad I felt before switching to carnivore. I also found that eating a stick of butter with some salted pork rinds an hour or so before bed helps me sleep like a baby. Good luck! And God bless!

I started drinking coffee years ago to get rid of dibilitating migraines I was having and didn't want to take medication. I started drinking it with creamer and sugar, but then any type of creamer made my stomach hurt. So, I switched to coconit oil, but because that's expensive, I started using butter instead. I don't have an addiction to coffee, but have one cup each morning with 1/2 tsp butter, half a Tbs molasses, and a couple dashes of cinnamon all blended up in my magic bullet. I guess I do depend on it, because it causes my bowels to move every morning. If that doesn't happen, I feel bloated and horrible all day. It would be easy for me to quit coffee, BUT alcohol is a different story. Although it makes me feel horrible and sluggish the next day, I can't seem to quit. My fav is White Claw, and have been up to 6 a day😢. I think I'm an emotional drinker, when I feel stressed with anything in life (children and husband) I want something to drink. I know it's tearing up my stomach, and I'm poisoning myself. Hopefully eating more meat and fat will help me with the cravings, and hopefully my depression and anxiety subsides.

I started cold Turkey and that was too intense. I think a good way to start is to stop eating anything with seed oils and grains over a week long period. Then increase your meat intake and slowly start cutting out vegetables over a week until you’re not eating vegetables any more. Then, start cutting out fruit and you should be down to eating just meat. I think that fish, eggs and butter might be inflammatory so you would have to test that on yourself to see if it affects you. Lion diet (ruminant meat, salt and water) seems to be the best diet for people who deal with arthritis.

I've been meat, eggs, and butter for some years now, and my blood sugar never came down to the early 5's. My A1C is today 6.1 and my insulin went up to ten from seven. Doctor says my body is making sugar and because I eat too much fat, the cells are not responding properly to insulin. He suggested the Mediterranean Diet with lean chicken, fish, mung beans and lentils and sweet potatoes. I'm going to just eat meat cooked with a little beef tallow and salt. No more butter. See what happens. If it doesn't work, I'll go for the Mediterranean thing without grains or nuts.

@@EricaBassi99 that still doesn't seem like it would be adequate. When I try doing keto, I can never get enough fat from meat. I need to add other sources like butter, olive oil, avocados, cheese, etc. I'm curious whether the carnivore diet is supposed to be approximately equivalent to a keto diet. If so, where does the fat come from? Or is it supposed to be just a high protein diet with some fat and no carbs (more like Atkins, I think)?

I’m 6 years now(90% carnivore) and gradually I healed my sores, don’t get them on my mouth anymore. I only get tiny spot in one of my nostrils, last one was many months ago I forgot even when. Recently though I decided to quit fruits and eat much less nuts. I also eat pork with all the fat and skin, always. I’m doing great on pork. I was born in Poland and pork was always a staple meat there ( with boiled potatoes and sauerkraut 😂)

I can imagine perhaps to lose weight in the short term. The carnivore diet could be handy. But in the long term, it’s not very logical. All you have to do is look at your teeth humans. Your teeth dictate more Hous teeth or flat teeth versus pointed teeth or carnivorous teeth. Look at other primates. if you only eat all meat. I don’t think you’re going to live along life. It’s not. Our bodies were designed to hunt and gather all day long eating primarily. Vegetation. And just because we don’t have to hunt anymore to obtain as much meat as we want. Doesn’t change her physiology.

I am amazed. Why people spend so much time speculating about all kind of details and excuses, when it is so easy to try it for one month? People are doing carnivore for many years or even decades and they have good results. So one month to find out will not kill anybody. I did not lose any weight, I actually gained weight in the form of muscles. The biggest benefit was getting rid of several unpleasant health issues like psoriasis, acid reflux, palpitations ... and I doubt very much that for living longer I would necessary need them. Teeth I have are good enough to chew all meat I want, so why would I need different teeth? There is no selective pressure to change our teeth. We do not use them to hunt and kill like lions.
