Interesting... I actually have a very different experience. I have been carnivore for about 10 months. I initially lost about 5 pounds then spent time gaining and losing that 5 pounds. For a long time I suspected that I was under eating. Whenever I would count my calories to see how many I was consuming, I would come in around 1400-1800 calories per day. After 5 months of not losing weight, I decided to try increasing my calories. I have always eaten until comfortably full because I hate the feeling of being stuffed. It was hard to pack the food in, but I increased my calories up to 2500. I'm average height and moderately active. I was also breastfeeding at the time which increased my estimate by about 200 calories. It took a month, but I was able to increase my hunger (I think maybe my hunger hormones are messed up) so that I can easily eat that amount now. I gained 5 pounds initially but lost it within a few weeks. After several months of increased calories I still was not losing weight, though I was seeing other improvements. I decided to incorporate fasting, which I have done before but was unsuccessful. My weight would always bounce straight back up. In January I started fasting two days a week and now I'm FINALLY losing weight. I've lost 18 pounds which is a miracle. I've been trying to lose weight for 10 years and this is the first time I've been able to lose this much. I don't think fasting is a good long-term solution, but it's just a tool for now. I think this strategy is working for me because I'm guessing I have high cortisol (stress hormone) which tells my body to hang on to weight. I'm wondering if it's high from years of under eating? Now that I'm getting enough regular intake, maybe my body is ok with releasing fat when I fast. I'm just glad it's working; it's incredibly demoralizing to be stuck when everyone else has the weight just fall off. Everyone's story is different. I'm glad you're finding what works for you. Hang in there and I hope what you're doing keeps working! I know how hard it is to be stuck for long periods of time!

When I want to lose fat I buy I bunch of eggs, boil them all and stove them away in the fridge. Eating eggs with every meal or whenever you feel like snacking is a game changer. Very satiating. When i started i did not have to worry about anything but sugar and carbs. No calorie counting, no macro tracking.. i lucked out. I lost 131lbs total, and maintained great for over a year. Then with no change to ANYTHING i noticed weight gain. And no matter what i did it wouldn't stop. I almost gave up when i hit the 30lb weight gain. I started REALLY REALLY tracking everything i put in my mouth. Heres what i think happened with me. I went from 249lbs to 125. My metabolism changed. What worked for my 249lb body doesn't work for my 125lb body. I had to think more like a "normal weight" person. It was definitely a learning experience for me. Luckily, im back on track. Oh also, men stink with how much easier loosing weight can be for some of them!!! And another big issue for us females is hormones.

Ok I'm really confused because everyone else says don't track your calorie intake~ might of fact~ if you work out~ you need about 2000 calories a day.... I feel a little confused about this one. Maybe you need to talk with Dr Ken Berry again~ counting calories is dumb~ per his podcast 11 months ago... it's about energy in and energy out.... girl I just don't know... this seems a little off.. but perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. 🤔😊
@CarnivorousMe16 ай бұрын
I clarified that calories are imperfect, the CICO is not a balanced equation. I ONLY use calorie intake to recognize how much energy I'm consuming, I'm not trying to counterbalance X amount eaten minus X amount exercised, that does not work which is what CICO says it does. A blanket 2000 calories for every person who works out is ridiculous (not call you ridiculous just the idea), the amount of energy our bodies need depends on age, gender, genetics, HEAVILY on how much we move during the day, etc. Someone who walks 30 min daily to exercise needs a heck of a lot less energy then someone who lifts weights for 2 hours. I do understand why you are confused, may dont speak about this because CICO has been just beaten into our heads (again I say it inaccurate). We cannot negate the fact that food is energy and energy cant just disappear, it HAS to go somewhere. Our bodies dont just poop eaten energy out, it saves it for rainy days (i.e. adipose storage). I think were most people are confused is they think im advocating for calories in = calories out, I am not.

Ok I listened to 6 minutes already and had enough lol. What animal in the wild uses a tracking app to stay fit?? I don't personally know of any. We are also animals and we have a species-appropriate diet and you can't argue otherwise unless you never paid any attention in your biology class in school :) When you're only eating red fatty meat and consuming NO carbs or sugars or other junk, then you can trust your hunger signals 100%. As long as you feel hungry, keep on eating, and as soon as the food stops tasting good to you, that's your signal to stop. The lion that hunts and eats more, gets stronger in the wild, not sicker or fatter. Sometimes dairy is a problem for some people, cut it out and you'd see magic start to happen. Eating fat doesn't and won't get you fat unless your combining it with some carbs (Even a little bit) or honey or fruits. That's just pure science I'm giving you here. I don't know what those Taco shells you mentioned are made of, but if they did contain any carbs at all, once you combine them with fat, the Randle cycle will kick in and you'd need about 72 hours, even up to 96 hours in some cases, to get out of it!!! You don't need to track anything and you'd be losing weight. Your body will gain the weight if that's where it should be and will lose it if that's what it needs to do, just eat RIGHT! :) Now if you decided to do some working out a couple of days a week, then you'd see some muscle coming in and fat going away at a faster rate. Also, "Calories" are a construct and they can be way off on the label fyi. You lose weight by losing mass, not calories, and you gain weight by gaining mass, not calories. If I ate a banana and you also ate a banana, do you think that this banana is going to be processed in both our bodies the same way, providing the same amount of bioavailable energy? The answer is NO. Calories mean nothing, but the quality of your food is everything. I challenge you to eat only red-fatty meat, overdo it and get fat. It's impossible. Do you get it?
@CarnivorousMe16 ай бұрын
You have never experienced binge eat is all the comment says to me. I FULLY explained calories are Flawed, by your logic then we shouldn't bother with measuring time since no other mammal on the planet does. I also clearly stated this is a TOOL for those who are stalled or NOT losing weight not for a "do this the rest of your life thing". Its also not as simple as "trust" your hunger signals, for those of us with insulin resistance the signals are not function properly.
@David-R.6 ай бұрын
@@CarnivorousMe1 Time is also a construct. We use it to communicate better because we're more intelligent that's all. When it comes to food, we're the same, we have an appropriate diet. Ok I get what you're saying and I didn't finish watching the video so you might have covered all that later on. However, there's no better fix for insulin resistance than sticking to a strict carnivore diet without having to measure calories or any of that. I did say "I challenge you to be able to over eat meat and get fat", so back to the point: If you don't introduce sus foods to your diet, and do a clean carnivore version, then your body will take care of all of that for you. So even if you were insulin -resistant and can't trust your hunger signals, just eat red-fatty meat (I know, boring af) Well, you can do some fish, chicken, pork, lamb, eggs (if you're not allergic) etc... and you'll heal, and still lose weight in the process. But I've heard from many people that cheese and dairy in general stalled their weight loss. Any food you can eat too much of and yield negative results is obviously not our appropriate diet (Just logically speaking). I didn't mean to offend you but I was afraid some new people to carnivore would watch your video and miss the whole point of a proper carnivore diet and it's simplicity! That's all.
@CarnivorousMe16 ай бұрын
I wasnt offended no worries. It is hard for those who have never experienced or had a close person with binge eating. We literally eat until we vomit. Now with carnivore it is MUCH harder to do that as you are correct we feel fuller from the meats. Many people do MUCH better a binge eaters doing it bc to removes the physiological drivers from the glucose however that doesn't erase the psychological habits around food. Thats just my point, we can overeat on it and no lose weight, most people tend to do well for a bit and lose weight then hit a stall (myself after around 110 lbs I got quite stuck). I get it, thats why I repeated said in the follow up video I did about this it is ONLY for those stuck/stalled (more then 3 months not losing weight), its not a "do it forever thing" just a tool to use in those times. Thanks for your candor!

@@CarnivorousMe1 yeah I guess you’re right. I’m personally still struggling. When I see a pastry or chocolates or donuts, I feel like I wanna hang myself to stop the cravings 😂 I went down from 208 and stalled at 166 for months. What seemed to have worked for me is eating less of the Greek yogurt and cutting out the cheeses. And I increased my meat portions, and I started eating my steaks with at least five eggs, like Sunnyside. Once I did that I walked up on the scale and lo and behold, I was at 161.6 for the first time in over seven months !!! My personal culprit for not being able to overcome my cravings, is that half a squirt of sugar-free hazelnut flavor in my dark roast. It’s not even a half of a small cup, but that sweet taste is keeping my brain wanting that crap. Actually, there is another thing that I tweaked, I used to only eat ribeyes, which have more fat in them, but I started to eat the New York strips with less fat, and maybe that helped me lose more weight too, because my body had no choice but to start burning its own fat . So after all, in a way you are correct, as long as we’re not eating any carbs ( I personally would grab a little bit of blueberries every now and then, and they never seem to decrease my ketone levels at all) but that’s about it. And I hate it 😂 but I’m never going back to eating the way I used to eat because I literally healed my entire body and I look and feel better. Thanks for your response and sorry again because looking back at my comment, I was a little bit aggressive in a way, but you handled me well and killed me with kindness lol.

Don’t weigh every day. A weight loss of half a pound a week is 25 pounds a year which is a stellar accomplishment. But that’s only 2 pounds a month. The best carnivore influencers took YEARS to achieve their current weight levels. Don’t expect the big water whoosh that happens month 1 to continue. In Dr. Berry’s words, “you need Vitamin P” (patience). I’m convinced people get discouraged and eat off plan far more than they acknowledge. It is frustrating to realize one cheat meal can sabotage an entire week’s worth of effort but it can.

Most Carnivore doctors say “avoid drinking 2h before and after a meal, otherwise you’ll undereat (you’ve filled up with fluid) and dilute the stomach acids, so it doesn’t do its job as it should”. I follow that, otherwise I undereat severely, and my body will then start storing fat again. 🤷🏻♀️

@@CarnivorousMe1 tracking calories is a hassle. A pure meat/eggs diet is way more simple. Nobody stalls eating meat/eggs alone. They aren't addictive. Dairy is. Proof? Try to come off dairy and you'll see 🙂
@CarnivorousMe16 ай бұрын
Its actually not a hassle at all, its a hassle doing it on the SAD when we eat 100 different foods, carnivore = weight food add food done. And yes people DO stall eating meat and eggs, eating 12 eggs and 2 lbs. of meat isn't conducive for a female to lose weight if they don't need that much food. BINGE eaters lack the ability to know when enough is enough. Sugar/carbs yes DO lead to physiological addiction however people with food addictions it doesn't matter the food, its the fact they eat their emotions, yes it harder to ON meat BUT it still does happen. As far as diary I HAVE taken it away and had zero change in weight loss, why? I really don't eat much of it anyways. For MOST people this isn't necessary AGAIN its for those who are stuck. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean its not happening, thank goodness life isn't just based off your view and experiences or we wouldn't have 99.99999% of the knowledge or advancements in the world. I don't mean that rudely either, we need all sorts in to make the world go around.

@@CarnivorousMe1 binge eating meat and eggs? I never heard of such a thing. If anybody did, pls chime in with comments. Those who stall on meat and eggs either cheat too often or do addictive processed meats, which are a no-no. Is there even a female who can do only meat and eggs? Even most males gets sick of eating meat and eggs exclusively and that's why we under eat. And we have it easier, hormonally speaking.

I did lose 21 lbs but it took almost 6 months. I was on a stall for a bit so did an 8 day egg fast tracking everything I ate which ended up about 1050 calories a day. I lost 9 lbs in those 8 days. I am now down 31lbs with 9 more to go before my goal. I do walk 5 miles in an hour everyday but I don’t think that’s caused me to lose slower. Tracking seemed to do the trick!

Here is what happened to me on carnivore. When I didn't lift weights, I lost weight. When I was lifting weights, my waistline kept getting slimmer, but I wasn't losing any weight. I think it comes down to muscle weighs more than fat, and you build muscle like crazy on the carnivore diet if you lift weights.

Men build muscle MUCH fast then women (higher levels of testosterone) and due to mass differences utilize more energy stores i.e. more weight loss faster. I would probably add: Don't rely on the scale to track your progress. If you're gaining muscle your weight may go up. But if your clothes are fitting better and you are feeling good, that's a better way to track. For me, I've done some pretty extreme diets in the past, which has totally tanked my metabolism. I have found now that the only way I can lose weight is if I eat fewer than 900 calories/day. That's not realistic of course if I want to get the nutrition I need. So I carry on with carnivore (just meat, fat, salt, water for me) and hope that it will help my system sort itself out one day. I'm not losing weight, but it wasn't the main point anyway. I need it for my health.

My view is a smidge different then CICO its more about JUST using calories to estimate energy intake. Our body only uses chemical energy but converts that into thermal (calories), electrical and mechanical. All this means is a calories eaten isn't a calorie burned, the CICO rat wheel can get you really frustrated, its ALL about just paying attention to what works for you.!
