Thankyou, after being brought up vegetarian with the occasional chicken habits stuck, my horrendous mental health led me to alcoholism to try and alleviate my moods and I've wasted so many years, now at 42 I'm on my 4th day of eating stake and eggs and I will continue because I feel an improvement in my mental health already. I’ve been watching these conference videos all day and, while many are interesting, yours has been the most compelling to me. I felt I really leaned something as a lay-person. I don’t expect to become a carnivore. Meat preparation has always grossed me out to the degree I can’t then enjoy eating it once it’s cooked hahaha. That being said, I eat eggs, dairy, and different types of meats from time to time. I lean more toward a keto diet relying on eggs and dairy as my protein, though I find it difficult to stay on. I think I would find a meat-only diet impossible. Do carnivore typically have not cravings for sweets or for the texture of bread?
@dana1020834 жыл бұрын
The stricter you are in your first 6 months, you'll have less cravings and your body will prefer fats. What's left will be how you deal with stress and emotional pressure that were once treated with carbs. They act like narcotics in your brain. The most important thing is committing and setting boundaries you promised yourself you'll never cross and follow through with it!

I have fully dropped all my meds. I no longer have inflammation. I don't crave anything else than meat. My reflexes are spot on. I have muscle like crazy. My legs have muscle on top of muscle. One thing that's been bothering me is that I do need vitamin C while eating carnivore. I didn't take any during the first three months and ended up with extreme fatigue, sore and bleeding gums, and excessive bruising. 500 mg of vitamin C turned that around fast. (Stopped getting fresh bruises, but it took forever for the old ones to heal. Like three months) A month ago my new physician had me to a 30 day trial where he took me off all supplements and had me eating raw liver. He wanted to see how I did. Well, I made it only three weeks before my symptoms came back. I reestablished vitamin C three days ago and already I'm feeling much better. Is it because the meat I'm eating isn't fresh enough? I will admit that's true as every single piece of meat I've eaten has been frozen at some point. Possibly more than once.
@92JacobG5 жыл бұрын
Yes, eat fresh and barely cooked meat. Also include liver (should be very high quality)
@andreafalconiero90895 жыл бұрын
Many people on carnivore diets report going for months or years without supplemental vitamin C, so it does appear _possible_ to obtain sufficient amounts of the vitamin just from the trace amounts provided in meat (especially raw liver). However -- you're not "many people" -- you're _you._ Therefore, due to bioindividuality (genetics, current health status), you could easily need more of this vitamin than you can get from animal foods. This is particularly true since this water soluble vitamin is easily destroyed by heat, freezing, and simply degradation over time. Therefore, unless you're eating cuts of very fresh raw meat that are relatively high in this vitamin, you could easily get less than what you currently need and develop scurvy. Do you really _want_ to eat lots of fresh, raw liver just to get enough vitamin C? If your vitamin A intake is already high (from egg-yolks), that might not be the best idea! In an interview you had with Carneval that I watched yesterday you reported that you have _scleroderma._ One quote I just looked up about the functions of vitamin C in the human body states: _"Vitamin C is needed for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It is used to: Form an important protein used to make skin, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels. Heal wounds and form scar tissue."_ Therefore, it seems likely to me that anyone recovering from scleroderma might require _vastly_ more Vitamin C each day than someone like Paul Saladino who appears to be in excellent health and only requires enough of the vitamin for maintenance. Please remember that we are *not* vegans! We don't need to rigidly reject any particular foods or supplements for ideological reasons -- it's just *food* not a religion! All we are trying to do is obtain and maintain optimal health. I personally eat a mostly-carnivorous diet, but I don't avoid spices, eat plants on occasion, and take supplemental vitamin C. I don't see anything wrong with that. Ascorbic acid is probably the cheapest and safest vitamin supplement money can buy. The benefits of adequate intake are huge, and it is practically impossible to overdose on this vitamin since any excess is easily and reliably excreted in the urine. Extremely high doses _might_ contribute to the formation of kidney stones, but that theory is currently unproven, and the potential problem is easily avoided simply by doing the obvious thing -- *don't take extremely high doses!* For most people, I'd suggest just taking about 100 mg of ascorbic acid 1-3 times a day (or a daily multivitamin) and not worry about it, rather than living with the constant worry that you might develop scurvy on a carnivore diet. In your case, an even higher dose might be warranted. If you don't want to take a supplement, then fresh lemon and/or lime juice added to water is another good way to get more vitamin C without the sugar. The carnivore police aren't going to hunt you down and crucify you for adding a few lemons to your diet!
@vociferonheraldofthewinter22845 жыл бұрын
@@andreafalconiero9089 Please understand that I am taking vitamin C. I know for a fact that I need it. I just couldn't puzzle out why. Your idea makes perfect sense to me. My body isn't a normal body and - even if I were healthy - some people require more and that's all there is to it. Right now the accepted science about scleroderma is that we're not to take vitamin C for fear that it will stimulate the collagen production that's destroying us. But, as far as I know, that's only a theory and not backed up by any hard science. They may be very wrong about that. The other thing that I've come to understand is that collagen is really a generic term for a multitude of different structures. The healthy collagen in young skin isn't the same as the collagen in keloid scars (that scleroderma patients have in abundance) or the collagen around the intestines which is a different structure from the collagen that holds the structure of the heart or that cushions the vertebrae. I'm starting to think that my enemy isn't necessarily collagen, but improper or poor collagen. Thus, denying myself what my body needs to create and maintain healthy collagen probably isn't smart. If my body is crying out for more vitamin C, it gets it. I do accept my reality, I just want to understand it! lol! I think you understand why I'm not dogmatic about 'my way is the only way.' Hell, I'm still trying to figure out what 'my way' really is. :-)
@andreafalconiero90895 жыл бұрын
@@vociferonheraldofthewinter2284 Unlike you, I know next to nothing about scleroderma, but it sounds like someone suggested _avoiding_ sources of vitamin C in order to prevent the body from repairing itself by forming scar tissue. This idea seems very unsound -- essentially what is being proposed is that people with scleroderma should _induce_ Vitamin C deficiency (or at least insufficiency) in order to prevent the progression of the _symptoms_ of the disease. While that might work to some degree, it seems like a bad tradeoff! As I understand it, the scar tissue forms as part of the repair process -- even if unsightly, it is an effect that is benign in itself, and indicates that your body's cells are healthy and _capable_ of repairing the damage caused by the immune system attack. I think the only real solution is to fix the underlying problem with the immune system somehow -- get it to stop attacking healthy cells, and the symptoms of scleroderma (scar tissue, etc.) should abate, or at least no longer progress. Hopefully you'll find the solution to that problem in a carnivorous diet.

Good weight is not unhealthy, in adipose tissue you store vitamins and other useful things. The quality of fat you put on is just better. It depends on what you want. The thing about carnivore is about feeling great and that you can freely choose if you care and want more or less body fat. If you look a little theres not much difference with keto aside leaving the antinutrients and toxins behind. That's why is better for mood and well being, but regardless to weight loss is almost the same.

I'm not sure of her age but I will suggest that IF she is going through menopause - the hormonal imbalances will contribute greatly to difficulties with weight regulation. Alternatively, even as a carnivore I find myself drawn to have a cheat now and then (rarely, as it can kick you out of ketosis) which can cause immediate bloating and health problems. Further, I'd suggest people go watch Ivor Cummins interviews - he did one with a hormone specialist who's main clientele is women and those going through menopause; one of the things he gets his clients to do is reduce the fat ratio (on a keto diet) while going through hormonal imbalances to maintain weight better.
