I actually grew up loving this song. My father used to sing it to us whenever he put me and my 3 brothers to sleep. He may have told me but I had forgotten it was a real song until my sophomore year in college and a teacher sung it at the end of class. Although I'm happy that so many people enjoy it, I honestly posted it for myself so that I can hear it whenever I get homesick or miss my father.

My mom who was born in Italy with basically no family here in America left an abusive husband and raised five children by herself working from our home sewing. She never slept and was always working. She often says she slept about five hours a night for 20 years; however, the one show she made sure we watched together was the Carol Burnett show.Typing this brought tears to my eyes even though I still have my mom - thank you Carol as I'm so glad we had that time together.

This song brings me back to Saturday nights in the 70's when I was a kid. It makes me think of how much has changed, how many people who were with us then that are no longer in our lives; but, I also know that the heart I had then is still the same and the things I loved and wished for may be gone, but they are not forgotten.

Like many folks here, it brings back memories of growing up. My mom and dad loved this show. Being the teenager I was, I typically thought the CB Show had some hip moments and, perhaps, I admit now that CB's old school style of comedy may seem dated along with the jokes but I love the theme song and I'm surprised more Jazz musicians haven't covered this song. I would have loved to hear what Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass as duet would have done with this song but I'll have to settle for Tuck and Patti instead! :)

I'm so glad we had this time together Just to have a laugh, or sing a song. Seems we just get started and before you know it Comes the time we have to say, 'So long.' There's a time you put aside for dreamin', And a time for things you have to do. But the time I like the best is in the evening - I can spend a moment here with you. When the time comes that I'm feelin lonely, And I'm feelin' ohooooo - so blue, I just sit back and think of you, only, And the happiness still comes through. That's why I'm glad we had this time together, 'Cause it makes me feel that I belong. Seems we just get started and before you know it Guess it’s time for me to say ‘So long.'
