Thank you for not editing out the little mistakes. That makes me feel more comfortable since I know I will be putting zippers in the wrong direction 🤣 I really appreciate you! Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

We all make mistakes. That's what seam rippers are for. ❤️ And worst case scenario: it is just fabric. 🥰

Decades ago I was told, "As ye sew, so shall ye rip." Just knowing that mistakes are an integral part of life, makes it easier to deal with them painlessly and patiently.

Thank you. I generally use option 3 when making totes and pouches. I use option 4 when making unlined grocery totes out of heavier fabric, but don't cut off the triangles. I figure it just makes those corners stronger for carrying heavier loads.

Option when you have the corners cut but not sewn, if you start on the short seam on the lining, don’t cut the thread, bring the side seam towards the sewn bottom seam and continue up the side. You’ll have a little string across from the bottom seam to side seam, and it helps bring the box seams together . Repeat at each corner. Hopefully that makes sense. It is a method from another bag maker I follow.

I watched this video ever so months ago - scared me!!! Ans the. I bought the Boxed Bag template at my local new quilt store after I watched (also bought a couple patterns!!). Everything just sat there😧. Then - my wonderful Accuquilt came out with the dies - wasn’t going to get them - but I did!!! So now I have everything and am watching your video again - and my brain seems to be getting it!!!! I can see pros and cons with each method - I just need to check out my batting supply or get so,e of that whatever you are using for the bags (Bosal???). I do have the ice cream container pattern !!! And the insul-brite so good there for something other than bags. But it’s bags I want to make!!!!!

I have always avoided projects with zippers because they seemed difficult to work with but after watching this video, I am not afraid anymore:) Thank you so much. I love all your videos.

#4 was the way that I first learned and I can’t stand that way, which is why I bought your ruler. I have never seen anybody sew the corners first before the zipper Going to try a sample method because I’ve always done zipper tabs and I’m not quite sure I follow what you were saying about flipping the zipper but it will probably make more sense once I start to do it

I used to sew the corners before the zipper, because it does make it easier to chain piece them. But, it makes installing the zipper really fussy on smaller bags. However, on bigger bags, it isn't too bad. Let me know how it goes without the zipper tabs! I think zipper tabs look great, but for simple zippered pouches, I like quick and easy.

What is the fabric line that you used for these pouches? Those flamingo are super cute.

The line is "Love Struck" by Art Gallery Fabrics. The ID number for this fabric is LOV14005 - Perfect Match.

Greatly appreciate the different versions of the bags, but I found it quite confusing way they were presented. Would have liked to see each bag shown beginning to end before going to the next. Maybe presenting your preferred method first then, mentioning why or commenting during another version--the variation.

I understand. I went back and forth on how to present this. I know some folks will prefer this way. Some folks would have preferred the other way... had to pick one and go with it, knowing I wasn't going to make everyone happy. ❤️

When cutting the lining pieces using the template how many layers can be cut at the same time?

I hate to suggest another way, but sometimes I am instructed to cut the 2" squares after sewing all the way around while everything is still flat. Any pros or cons to this option? I have a lot of trouble sewing those triangle corners accurately, so I like your other options better. Thank you so much for making this video!
@CarolinaMoore

Oh! I've not heard of that, but it would totally work as well (and be less tedious than the 5 seams method).
@lucyblum3456
@lucyblum3456 6 ай бұрын
One con to doing it after sewing the seams is that the stitches could pop out when pulling the fabric to make the corner seams. Using a shorter stitch length can help.

I've never seen sewing the corners before the sides and bottoms! Very cool. I always sew the sides and bottom, then cut the corners for boxing. Great to see options!

I skipped past a couple of places, so if you mentioned this, I apologize. My sister buys stuff from a dressmaker supplier. Am I allowed to mention the name here? Whenever she's ready to put in an order, she gives me the catalog and asks me if I need anything. When I started making zipper pouches, she saw some 14 inch zippers were on sale, and ordered me a big bag of assorted colors. Best sister ever! I guess the point I'm making is, zippers are a lot less expensive if you find the right supplier, but you may have to buy in bulk.
