Oh trust me, I am a bread fan too @michelefallo9762 - you just have to choose the right kinds of bread, choose whole grains. My fave brand is Daves Killer Bread but it is pretty pricey. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.

The mediteraneans never eat whole grains. I think whole grains are bad. They did eat sour dough and put olive oil,salt and vinegar on bread. The vinegar lower glycemic index. I do not know why, but they throw the whole grain to the animals.@@thecookingdoc

This must be a calorically dense way of eating, no? Avocado, oil, nuts.... And limited protein. I want to hit at least 120g of protein a day. This is much cleaner than my current diet, but not so sure about using it for losing weight and gaining muscle... any insight?

Aloha. As an aspiring and proximal Mediterranean dieter/lifestyler - I have the knowledge, attitude...working on behavior - I very much appreciate your gentle but data-driven approach in your videos. I'd be interested in mackeral recipes that aren't Japanese (which is great btw but I don't have another frame of reference). Speaking of which, what are the data on Japanese diet since their longevity is so long? If you haven't done so, maybe a day-in-the-life-of video would be great.

Seems like the way you described the diet it's Americanized. Traditional Mediterranean peoples eat lots of goat, pork full fat cheese both cow and goat. Also there are as many Mediterranean diets as cultures and nations, just follow the coastline.

Agree with they eat cheese (especially goat & sheep) but in smaller portions than the SAD.
@DelectableDays6 ай бұрын
Let’s assume that’s true(I highly doubt it) but let’s just say it correct, the particular Mediterranean diet he is describing is superior to that in every way. A diet high in animal products, meat, dairy, and saturated fat ect, is not healthy. A diet high in plantbased foods with the bulk of its fats coming from polyunsaturated/monounsaturated sources, and with most of its animal based foods coming from seafood, is going to leaps and bounds healthier.

if you wanna learn about a diet, you should talk and make studies to people who were born, raised and died with it. im from greece and most if not all people i know have chronic inflammations, diabetes and autoimmune diseases by the time they are 40, and if you ask me that doesnt look or sound good. the reason this is happening is because we love eating all kinds of veggies, starchy ones too, our diet is also loaded in foods with sugars, such as fruits, and we dont really eat alot of red meat because growing up doctors would say its bad for us, so we would mostly eat lean meat like chicken and non fatty pork cuts. yes i am from greece, syros specifically, im 37 and i am getting disability pension from a various combination of health issues that vary from autoimmune and inflammation that would end up damaging the nerves system. lately i was forced to undergo to keto diet but didnt help so i had to eat pork salt and water for 4 months ( so far, because its cheaper than beef) to try and reverse some of these issues. intracranial hypertension diabetes t2 asthma some animal (cats rabits) , insect (bees and wasps) and pollen allergies (wild flowers at spring and olive tree flower pollen) . inflammation to ears causing me 80% hearing loss ( i have otitis but sugar and carbs kept my ears inflammated all the time) IBS/IBD/SIBO??? i dont know what i have because we dont have a specialized doctor to diagnose me in the island and no resources to seek help in the main land, all i know is the last 2 years i cant eat gluten, fructose, lactose and fiber because i get constipated and spasm/cramps and the pain is unbearable. also stop saying "avocado and healthy fats" nuts are imported and not native and so is avocado, no household had avocados and nuts as a diatery staple 30 years ago hell i dont know anyone in my hood eating avocados period, avocados are something exotic to us, most times you go to supers to buy groceries they are sitting in the shelves and end up in the bin because not many people buying them. just because a product fits perfectly into a diet, doesnt mean its native to that diet, we never eaten them and we rarely do now because they are more well know, and by now i mean the last 5 years, also nuts arent part in our diet, we dont cook with them we just snack on them rarely and by them i mean almonds, because we have lots of almond trees, every other nut is imported as far as i know. 4 months into carnivore diet fixed some of these issues 100% like asthma and diabetes and allergies are gone, intracranial hypertension is 90% reduced symptoms but still there my bowel issues are mostly gone, at least im not in pain or any discomfort, and i can actually FINALLY hear what people are saying and i can participate in conversations instead of just avoid every interaction or looking at the ground when i realize someone is talking because i couldnt hear, and whats sad about that is, when i used to tell people to speak up, they would for like half a minute, then they would forget about it, and talk normally again and that was so hard to do especially for grocery shopping or paying bills, it was really hard. i even had to leave from a doctor appointment because for some reason he, not refuse to speak louder, but his own version of loud wasnt loud enough for me to hear, so i told him this aint working, i cant hear you and im not paying you for services you didnt provide and so i left. what i've learned through my struggles through my life and my issues is that, we are not made to digest that much plant food, because most of the "good" vitamines and micronutrients are in plants can hardly with alot of effort be converted by our body, or in some cases cant at all. ketones helped me heal my body and im still healing and will be healing for a long time. plant diets work until they dont, and usually when you find out about it, you're at your 40-50's when your body starts failing at you. i was unlucky because i didnt even get to 40 or 50.... but considering everyone around me is going through the same things but more mildly, i would say yeah, 40-50 years old is when you start to realize you messed up. i need meat now to survive and i didnt like meat but i like living. so i did what i had to. i hope you dont end up in my place. god bless and take care of yourself dear reader because some people out there are delusional and live the reality they wanna live.

You can go with Chicken , duck , turkey , (the most, three to four times a week.) and if you're going with red meat, lamb is an great option, due to its benefits and portion sizes. but when it comes to red meat, that has to be treated more like a treat than a go to. Also while I eat any of those meats my plate has to be 75 percent mixed leafy greens with just a serving of it.

How much weight does a person lose after on the diet for 8 months
@sterlingsparkowich6355 ай бұрын
Calories in calories out, although it's subjective to a persons metabolic rate. As long as it's controlled you can consistently lose weight on this diet. If you tend to be more endomorphic you might want to emphasize more on protien and less on fats.
@sterlingsparkowich6355 ай бұрын
After personally testing and finding your exact BMR, and tracking calories religiously you can consistently lose however many pounds you want in 8 months, although I wouldn't over do it since you want to be sustainable in your habits, not crash.

you lost me at olive oil, as this is an ultra processed food and bad for your health, I would rather have butter or a more pure fat than that garbage
@Phonexwing5 ай бұрын
I thought the "seed oils are evil" crowd excluded olive oil. Olive oil is not processed, it is literally made from just squeezing olives. The Mediterranean diet also doesn't include and frying or high heat cooking that would cause problems with other seed oils. What's wrong with olive oil?
@wisefoodfit4 ай бұрын
Extra virgin olive oil isn’t considered ultra processed. Why ultra processed? Isn’t butter processed too in this case. It doesn’t come from milk without being processed, like the olives.
