What an amazing talent. For those that don’t know, she was born with eye cancer and life didn’t get much kinder. Despite so much suffering, she still lit the world up with magnificent humour. RIP Sweet Caroline.

@@HarryBarryGary Not too sweet to her husband Peter Hook who she physically abused during their marriage, but yeah we shall gloss over all that because a man was the victim and not a woman. But yeah, sweet Caroline.

"I'm trying this act out for a friend. She was too nervous to do it," must be one of the most absurdly funny lines ever uttered on a comedy stage. Caroline just throws it away, but it pops back into your mind hours later, or even years, and you laugh all over again.

It’s so crazy how she can seem so effortlessly funny. Obviously she put a lot of work into her craft but a lot of it is her natural charm and timing.

Caroline was epic, so naturally funny with no ego or overkill comedy. So observational and real... I loved Mrs Merton, spent time as a single mum watching this icon and laughing my pants off with a bottle of guinness and my universal remote control waiting for her show. Life is so different now,, I miss those days!!! Rest in comedy heaven sweet funny lady 🙏❤️

I could listen to her for hours. This performance was a masterclass in delivery. You could so easily bomb with that material but she's such a natural comedian, so likeable and charismatic. I remember hearing her on Martin Kelner's show as Mrs Merton before she was famous. Really clever woman!
@redditbanditvideos75853 жыл бұрын
Some good observations. Reminds me a lot of most American comedians who don't have exceptional -or often even above average material-, but their character, stage presence and delivery just somehow make it work.

I loved the bit about she likes it when you're driving on a main road and you let someone in from a side road and they give you a little thank-you wave . . . ,'So if I've got nothing to do in the afternoon, I go out and drive along main roads and let people in.'

I have lived outside of UK for a long time and accidentally stumbling on her standup comedy gigs, I was happy to enjoy her great humour. Then shocked to find she has gone too soon..... only 52. One of the funniest women of that, or any generation. She could probably tell these stories for hours! Mrs Merton allowed her to inject more bite into her comedy, and The Royle Family more warmth. Caroline (and Craig Cash, of course, who made both those shows with her) was amazing.
