Thanks for uploading this - used to watch TFI a lot back in the day. I didn’t see Mrs Merton as always struggled with cringe comedy like that but loved her characters in the Fast Show. I’ve just watched all The Royle Family again though, first time in a long while and it is absolute genius + interesting she mentions it in this interview. Can also see Craig Cash is amongst her friends there too. Watching the Royles again has made me think a lot about Caroline and I feel very sad that she’s no longer with us. You can tell by her body language she wasn’t comfortable and what a bell end Evans is for mentioning her breasts. RIP Caroline - you had many struggles in your life but what a funny, beautiful, talented lady you were.

It could've been nerves, but in other places i've heard her talk about growing up around older generations of ladies like that. What was great about that character was the fact that that generation could laugh along with the rest of us. R.i.P xx

I read Peter Hooks account of their marriage, she was a complicated person, he had a really dark time... But it seems all the great comedians were damaged of mentally imbalanced, Sellers, Hancock, Spike Milligan... Etc.
