I know it may seem easy for most anglers. But how can you keep casting to the same place.
@SimonDewCarpFishing5 жыл бұрын
Lewis Staff I will try to cover this in a future video mate 👌 Two things that may help though are to pick a horizon marker such as a tree this helps your left and right accuracy then use the line clip on your spool once you’re happy with the distance you want to fish. This ensures you’re fishing the same distance each time. Mark your line with pole elastic so you can re-clip after a fish. Never fish with the line in the clip. Once you’ve cast to your spot un-clip so the rod doesn’t get pulled in!

Thank you so much that’s some grate information. Especially mark the line. Hopefully the next time I go I will watch catch thanks to your help 🎣.

Hi Simon, enjoying bouncing around your videos. Total novice trying to catch my first (targeted) carp from my local very deep res. There are a few big carp and very few fish for them. Spent a lot of daytime last year fishing a channel feature I know but not even a liner suppose fish dont go there! I wonder now if it's to silty as all you pros talk about finding a hard spot. I never leaded around (yet). You also mention casting to showing fish and I've only seen two fish show / crash both in 35 foot of water. I assume these fish aren't feeding on the bottom..but should I do as I'm told and cast?

hi mate I would consider using adjustable zigs if the water is that deep especially if the water is clear. Also try pre-baiting for a couple of weeks to get them feeding on a spot

Hi Simon, thanks for the vlog! Always interested to hear your approach. Do you use a leading rod? Marker float? Prodding stick? Cheers.
@SimonDewCarpFishing6 жыл бұрын
Hi John thanks for your question. I mostly use a marker float rod with a 3oz lead and braided mainline which helps feel the bottom contours better. I will be making a future video about using a marker rod and how it's set up so keep an eye out for that one.

Hi great blog , a question I fish monument 2 spring till October in open water clay and gravel bottom no features with a W after bait ,how would you fish in open water thanks
@SimonDewCarpFishing6 жыл бұрын
David Fisher hi David thanks for your question. I’ve never fished monument but from what I know about these types of lakes then they are very pressured and busy therefore the fish will look to hide from pressure and shy away from lots of bait. I’d definitely consider the margins in warmer conditions and for the open water try to find where the gravel meets the clay as these are the patrol routes. Also pellets would feature highly in my approach as these fish are reared on pellets. Try light baiting for example a couple of handfuls rather than a couple of kilos. The middle of the lake could hold fish as they will move as far from anglers as they can. Hope this helps mate and always watch the water and watch other anglers too as some will do better than others 😉

Try different approaches on each rod with different baits and colours, then find whats working and swap all to working method. Weather has huge impact on feeding and behaviour so tailor your method to the conditions. Don't neglect Zigs and less common bait on pressured venues as different approaches to the rest can trick wary carp.
