Not in my experience Chris, however it is possible that your vehicle could be checked/bait removed. It's best to have a plan B if you do plan on trying to take it with you just in case.

you forgot to mention that each person's hi vis vest must within their reach and not kept in the boot of the vehicle

Yes good addition there - Hi-Viz jackets do need to be within reach of the driver and all occupants so they can be accessed before leaving the vehicle.
