Got to love Road Lake. I fished not far from you at Etang de Fays as travel was opening up. It was our first time at this venue and it was top class. Mark and Mikey were very accommodating and we’re going back next year. Fun video guys I’m sure Alex was sick he missed out. Hope he’s well now. Great video as always, one question though, @ 17:49 you show your lead clip set up with straight mainline and no tubing or safety leader, is there any reason youre not using them as most places i go to these days you have to have tubing at least 18" up the mainline?...just curious tbh

If you want big Carp, come to Australia. We are over run with them. Biggest we caught on a dam fed river pondage (Dad on the rod, me in freezing water with the landing net) was easily over 18 pound. Caught on corn. Took over an hour and some due to the light line he was using.

Carl, what diameter of mainline would you recommend for carp fishing? i want a bit stronger line than usual, because im a starter in carp fishing, i only fished with feeders before. I have a .26mm braid for the snag leader

Do you use tubing on your line cause it helps hide the line when the fish are around your bait cause it camouflages it

Love watching your carp fishing video. I see you travel around quite a bit. Somewhat of a globe trotter? I fish for all types of fish, fell in love with fishing in early childhood. Was very good at it & successful at catching large fish of all spieces. No offense intended, but most of the fishing videos I watch including yours, dont impress me with the size of these so called monsters? Most video fish I've seen dont qualify as monsters in my experience," not here in western New York anyway? So far after years of watching giant carp fishing videos,I've yet to see anything over 3 foot or so? The only time I see 4,5,& 6 foot fish is when I look down into the water at my line here in western n.y. Next time u crave monster fish & have a traveling bone, I could give you tours, put you on top of them & let you camp at my place. Mostly just bank fishing, but I do have a new small 12 foot 2 man job boat. You'll need an out of state license for N.Y. I'm 58 now. I dont expect people to believe me,but as a child of 9 yrs or so,dad, myself & 2 brothers looked down off an elevated bank into a out 8 feet of slow moving river mouth water & watched a school of 8 carp or more doing a water angel dance in the spotted shade & sun of a huge tree. There was not 1 under 4 foot. Most were 5,6 & 7 feet long. Common & grass carp. Big around as telephone poles for those long torpedo shaped grass carp. Looked like 7 feet of utility pole. I'd guess atleast 60 or 70lbs. That is not the only time I've seen such around here. Lake Ontario is full of all types of fish & all these tributaries are nurseries for them that they migrate seasonally up stream & back down to the lake. All of them do this, not just salmon & lake trouts. Bass, carp, pike, ect all do it too. We get a mite cold with winter windchill here some years & the lake will freeze over completely to canada sometimes ,but not to the botton, too deep, store warm. These creek will freeze to the bottom some years, fish do migrate for many reasons, not just breeding. Its ok,they will return with the deep spring waters of rain run off & snow melt while the water is deep enough to not get beat up on the stones in the rapids.
