I use this rig for as much of my fishing as I can , the only difference being the bait stop goes on the d section before the bait screw . This tells me if the rig has been picked up at anytime as the d pulls through the hook eye under the pressure of an aborted take , I also make a twisled section behind the top loop which acts to kick away the rig ti reset it . Most rigs you see are just about selling components, no need for putty just use a oval split shot , this rig gives a great hook hold I’ve not lost a fish at the net since I used this rig . I fish very snaggy weedy waters where the hook hold is paramount . Nice to see a basic rig being championed.

Personally, I feel the multi is one of the most efficient rigs in terms of materials and time spent tying as well as versatility. However, in terms of hooking potential its about average. I have seen that rig get done in a few times on underwater cameras and I can see why. Its the same fault that the majority of rigs have, the weight is simply in the wrong place. For me, the shot on the hook (and variations thereof) is the ultimate rig in terms of hooking potential. In my six years of using that rig, I have never had more confidence in a rigs ability to absolutely nail a fish every time the bait enters the mouth. My friend Galen and I recently did a video about my shot on the hook rigs using his underwater filming equipment and it showed an 80% efficacy rate for hooking with four takes out of five interactions where the hook bait entered the mouth fully. Upon closer review that one time where the bait was ejected, it was clear the hook itself never made it far enough off of the deck to find a hold. Great video, and you have a new subscriber. Cheers from Canada!

A granny knot is a strangulation knot, the line will cut itself on itself given time and reduce the breaking strain by 50%. Use a size 8 shot instead as they are lead at this size and below, using a larger one made of a much harder lead substitute risks it cutting the hooklink by shearing through it when it moves. Also pull the tag end of your knots and don't cut them so short as they will otherwise tighten in use and possibly undo themselves.

I'm sorry and correct if I'm wrong but the multi rig incorporates two different materials a coated hook link or fluro carbon hook link and a soft hook link material normally attaching the two with an albrite knot you can attach the hook by a knot less knot or the slip D method but you need to use some shrink tube though the only thing I do different to you is when pulling the rig to make sure everything is tight is i put a pulling tool through the D and then pull it preforming the D so there's not need for a hook bead i am led to believe the only differences between between them is the multiple materials used for the multi rig and a coted braid for the slip D great video though and very well explained keep up the good work

I'll be defo trying this out, although while that granny knot will likely be fine, I'll be sliding on a float stop/tungsten gripper before any loops are tied. Other than that, looks ideal, and well explained. Thanks mate.

Putting the granny in will weaken the rig, why not just put the putty over the stripped back bit of coated braid?
@thenortherncarper251Ай бұрын
@@pumba5322 that’s exactly where it is, I’ve never had the granny fail on me and I’ve never had putty slip on it. This was a tip I took from a very experienced angler, better than us lot anyway! Thanks for the support mate 👍
@pumba5322Ай бұрын
@ I was always taught that the more knots you put in the rig, the more you weaken it, the putty (decent putty) wouldn’t slip on just the stripped back coating, therefore meaning you wouldn’t need the knot, I’m intrigued who the experienced angler is? Are they better than us, or just able to put more time on the bank 😉😉😉
@thenortherncarper251Ай бұрын
@ yeah it all comes down to a confidence thing really, if it’s cold then I personally believe it may slip your way, whereas on a knot it physically can’t move. Oli davies - Nash. He makes this rig on one of his videos 👍 definitely fish’s more but is also a great angler 👍

Mate... 20 years ago, the Ronnie rig didn't existed... Dave Lane came up with the 360, then Ken Townley made it a big thing using the long shank curved hooks, that were on par with the CarpRus longshank nailers, and without the 360, there would have been no German and definitely no bloody Ronnie

@thenortherncarper251Ай бұрын
@@Ian-dj2nj never had that issue! This rig is much better with a bore bead as opposed to a bait stop but these work too, the reason it doesn’t it that when you cast it forces the bait and screw to stay over it 👍 never once has it pulled over 👍
