Hi, I built the workbench, pretty much exactly as you posted, I created it in Sketchup to get my cutlist, I made a change by putting a drawer in the sawbase and another in the right hand cabinet. I am going to add the sliding addon this weekend. My other workbench was a lot larger, this new one still gives me sheetcut options but the added bonus of a smaller storage footprint. Thanks so very much for sharing.

First a shoutout and huge thank you to CarpenTAK for the excellent design of this workbench and the very informative videos in general! Dear Kevin, as I'm preparing to build a workbench for my own DeWalt 7492, this design looks perfect for my needs and since you mentioned you had created a sketchup model of it, I was wondering if you'd be willing to share that with a fellow woodworker? I'd be very grateful! My contact email is in my KZbin profile. Thanks in advance for considering

If you have plans I would gladly spend a few dollars to buy and support the effort you have put into this built. We’ll done. Would also be great to have some running commentary explaining some of the decision making or critical aspects in construction. 👊

Gotta say that's possibly the best designed and executed diy sliding table I've seen but I don't see what advantage it offers over a similarly well designed sled.
@roderichmarschner29832 жыл бұрын
Simply, capacity. Not this one. But you can build a slide to take a 5x12 sheet, no way you can use a sled for that. Once you have something bigger than ~18" along the cut (~45cm I think) it just gets awkward to have a sled big enough to do the task. A slide starts to work much better at those size, but still works very well at small scale. Edit: They are also designed to be infinitely variable for angled cuts, cove cuts or other unusual things. Sleds can be built to do that, but the offset between the table and sled height makes things less then ideal. This still has it's problems. Just fewer
@carpentak2 жыл бұрын
great! You've explained it well. My slides are designed to cut up to 70 cm. It is not possible with a sled. In addition, its extension fence can be extended up to 160cm and can be measured.
@saberman12 жыл бұрын
Amazing... I want one for my table saw.
@kdietz65 Жыл бұрын
Sliding tables can get tricky. With the other jigs and extensions you built, you're still basically using the saw itself to cut the work piece. Assuming the saw was calibrated when you got it, you should get square cuts and the jigs won't affect it. But with a sliding extension table, now you're using a piece of equipment that did not come with the saw to make your cuts. If it isn't lined up perfectly, you won't get square cuts. I'm sure yours is perfect, but if I tried to build this myself, I have doubts as to whether it would be square enough.
@AaronHoyland Жыл бұрын
You can see him square it up against the table saw fence starting at 16:20. He then drills and taps one small hole in each mitre track and inserts a small threaded insert to serve as a stop. That way when he's adjusting the fence, he can pull it back until it touches against each insert, and then he knows it will be square.
