This is precisely why I think she's the best female singer of all time. Whitney, Mariah, Celine, and Adele are all phenomenal vocalists, but whereas I hear their talent and appreciate their voices, Karen just touches your soul. Her voice is magic.
@tomschmitz2613 жыл бұрын
true.. and karen was and always will remain the ultimate singer who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU....she told the story of the song, every lyric, every word she played emphasis on, and she also had the most perfect diction and enunciation of ANY singer male or female i have ever heard....plenty countless great singers, lesser number of great vocalists, and then you have karen..

That is a spot on and profound comment my good friend. All those women you mentioned at first are great soaring singers with unbelievable range and pitch. BUT....they are not Karen. There is a purity, warmness, and spirituality in Karen's voice that no other singer has. Nobody!!!!!!! The GOAT, the greatest voice of all time, regardless of gender.

Well young lady you have added a new dimension to my life. I'm an old man who has been listening to the carpenters since their beginning. I've listened to their songs and albums hundreds of times. All of their songs are on my Spotify playlist. Their music is like an old friend but watching your videos responding to Karens voice and Richards arrangements has literally given new life and a new perspective to their music because of your moving and heartfelt reactions. Thank You So Much. Sincerely. RJ

I grew up listening to the Carpenters. As a teenager I would say at times they were my good friends. I would stay up through the night listening to them and it helped me deal with pain as a teen. @rlevitta Жыл бұрын
He wrote SOME of those beautiful songs - but he's often overlooked. He played piano, arranged and produced almost all of their song, and was 'instrumental' (pun intended) in their success. Notable other composers were Burt Bacharach and Hal David (Close to You,) Paul Williams and Roger Nichols (this song - I Won't Last a Day Without You, Rainy Days and Mondays, We've Only Just Begun,) Leon Russel (Superstar, This Masquerade,) Geld and Udell (Hurting Each Other.) Richard contributed some GREAT songs with lyricist John Bettis (Goodbye to Love, Only Yesterday, Top of the World, Yesterday Once More, and my favorite - I Need to Be In Love.)
@KNPrince3 жыл бұрын
This song was one of the only times that Karen had to go back and re-record her backing vocals... She had an inner ear infection during this session...
